And now, the moment you have all been waiting for.

And slightly early too!

The reveal of the DesignFinder 2018 Top 16!

Well done to all those who entered, and congratulations to all the competitors who made it through to round 2!

The link can be found in the first comment, and each individual item can be discussed on the Open Gaming Network forums (Clicking on the item's name will take you there, though you will have to sign up to comment!)

See you for round 2!

It'll be up on the navigation bar too, as soon as our webmaster wakes up. :P

Congrats to the Top 16! It was great to see the reveal of who wrote what among some very good items. A couple familiar names to me, and a bunch more I'm looking forward to getting to know. I hope once you're done with your Round 2 entries (or when you need to take some breaks) you'll take some time to introduce yourself to all of us.

I hope everyone else will go comment on the individual items (feel free to discuss them and the contest in this thread too!). Praise is great, but remember too that (CONSTRUCTIVE!) criticism helps the designer and anyone reading learn and improve.

And once again like RPGSS was, there's someone from NC in the mix. :)

We can't keep you guys out!

Congratulations to the 10% of entrants that made it to the next round!

We had a tough job to select the Top 16! Well done to everyone who submitted, and congratulations to the finalists!

Congratulations! I'm just starting to read the entries, and there's some really cool items here! I'll do my best to give my thoughts in their individual threads.

Ah well, looks like my item didn't make it. Oh well, grats to the others! They look really cool.

Any chance we could get one of those awesome feedback threads that SKR did that I found while scouring for tips? I'd love to know where my room to improve is.

Mentioned in the other thread: if folks' items didn't make it in and they'd like feedback, feel free to PM them to me, and I'll check 'em out when I have time!
To be clear, I'm not a judge or anything, just a plain 'ol Pathfinder freelancer :)

The Exchange

Congrats to all of the entrants, and mostly so to the top 16!

Scarab Sages

Lots of really strong work in the top 16. Great job everyone!

Crossposting from the other DesignFinder thread:

Congratulations, to the community members who made it into the Top 16!

And congratulations to everyone who entered. It is *hard* to do that, to put yourself, something you made, in front of a bunch of nitpicky judges. Even if you didn't make it, be sure to give yourself credit for that--and go forward and plan for the next thing coming.

It was an honor to read through all of your entries. Whether sheer perfection or... needing a little work... it's great to see what creative gamer minds come up with when challenged.

Seconding this! If you submitted, you should be proud of yourself! You finished something and sent it to other people to look at, and that’s an important accomplishment in itself. You’ll hear a lot in this industry that ideas are easy, but execution is hard, and everyone who entered proved their ability to execute. God job, all!

Just a head's up in case any of the contestants aren't looking at the OGN forums, one contestant asked some questions, which I answered there.

Now we are getting to the good stuff! Can't wait to read the adventure location ideas.

Congratulations to the Top 16!

It was great to read through all the items and see the imagination on display.

I look forward to seeing the next batch of entries.

Congrats!

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32

Round 2 is now over for the contestants in the Designfinder Contest, and the judges have retired to the 9th layer to deliberate!

The 15 entries (we had an unfortunate DQ) will be revealed, along with the judges comments, comments on the 26th, after which you'll be able to vote on your favorites to go through to round 3! - Once revealed, please feel free to comment and discuss the various entries, UNLESS you're one of the contestants. In that case, you should refrain as it could get you disqualified.

And may I say that some of the entries we've received were really good, and were places I'd want to explore with my own gaming group.

While we wait, I just wanted to mention that if you submitted a magic item and didn't make the top 16, send me a PM if you'd like my notes on your item. Depending how many people take me up on this, it might take me a while, but I will get them to you!

And I can't wait to see some awesome locations!
