Will Against the Aeon Throne have a player's guide?

At the very least, the heroes will need to know who this " the kidnapped colonist, who is an old friend of the heroes" is? Some suggestions of connections to this "old friend" may also be reasonable.

I doubt they'll have an official one, but Paris did a pretty solid unofficial one for Dead Suns that I found useful. We may get lucky and have something similar for AAT.

Against the Aeon Throne won't have an official Player's Guide as a separate document, but the first page of the adventure is dedicated to helping GMs and players decide how the party knows their "old friend." And it is organized by theme, helping them do double duty as a kind of "campaign trait."

This is good news.

What you are saying is that the "Player's Guide" (or at least what would be need from one) will be included in the first book of the AP.

Essentially, yes.

I'm hoping to run this with a some friends who haven't played SF before. We're making characters in July, and running the first act of Dead Suns first. Will it be an issue if they don't have specific ties to 'old friend'? Will there be issues if they are set up as a group of Stewards (starting off just doing stuff around Absalom before being sent to the colony).

Well!

Spoiler:
This might actually fit VERY well with the adventure, as the "old friend" is a retired member of the Stewards. And in the second adventure, the Stewards deputize the players to head into Azlanti space to get her back! You'll have to do some minor tweaks here and there, but you should be good to go!

Exactly the answer I was looking for :) Thanks!
