Which is the better archer?

Zen Archer or Divine Hunter?

Zen Archer.

But a Zen Archer with a dip into Divine Hunter might be worthwhile for the Smite Evil.

Divine Hunter is kind of a trap. Just be a ranged Paladin and keep your normal abilities. That said Zen Archer is still better.

Divine Hunter definitely makes a better dip than it does an archetype...

Scarab Sages

Zen Archer is better, but a Paladin might out-damage the ZA vs Smite targets at certain levels depending on DR and the equipment available.

Zen Archer

Divine Hunter winds up weaker then your average Archer Pally, since he loses out on some immunities in exchange for granting some feats that only really help the party if they are dedicated ranged characters without them, and makes Divine Bond less Flexible.

Zen Archer, on the other hand, is much more powerful then your average monk, stacking TWF with Haste and Ki on a bow, getting to pack Unarmed Strike damage onto it[2d10 arrows are devastating in 4-8 attacks], getting all ranged feats other than Deadly Aim for free, shooting off of wisdom, and still threatening in melee.

Well, from a combat perspective, Zen Archer.

Paladin is also the party face and has a lot of social interactions. Zen Archers typically have very bad charisma. So, the social aspects I would favor the Paladin.

If you like archery and want to be the party face, Divine Hunter is a good solid choice. If you only want to do combat, Zen Archer.

My experience with Zen Archers led to plenty of social skill.

But, if you want to be a Party Face Archer, standard Pally still does it better. You will wind up spending every feat on archery, but you will have better defenses and more useful class features in general. Divine Hunter is better for dipping.
