Love hurts,

Love scars,
Love wounds and mars
Any heart not tough or strong enough
To take a lot of pain, take a lot of pain
Love is like a cloud, it holds a lot of rain
Love hurts,
Ooo-oo love hurts

So like with Carbon-14? I didn't think they were that old.

Oh. The other kind of dating.

Well, this sort of question first needs us to lay out some groundwork on the assumptions we're working with (hey, we're all nerds here - overthinking this stuff is what we do).

So for me anyways, these assumptions are as follows:

1) Assuming we're going into their world (Golarion), not vice-versa.

2) Assuming I'm present as a "character of Golarion", meaning that I have my real-world personality, outlook, talents, inclinations and probably general appearance, but physically was born and raised in Golarion, so I'm not constantly dying of their diseases that my modern-Terran self would not have the immune system to handle or think it's weird that their world is inhabited by monsters that pretend to be your pants and then eat you when you try to put them on.
So it's "me", but "me" as if I was born in Golarion (not an entirely a fictional character).

3) Assuming I'm an adventurer! Because let's face it, that's what this game is about, and that's typically what you'd need to be for other adventurers to consider you as a "dating prospect" and not just a one-night fling.

So with those assumptions in mind, it's time to narrow down the list of candidates. I'm a heterosexual man, so I'll only be considering the ladies.

If I'm an adventurer, dating other adventurers, this typically assumes a "life on the road", rather than a "settled down", committed lifestyle. So I'll gravitate toward women that would be more inclined toward more casual, non-monogamous relationships (Valeros knows what I'm talking about!) as we drift in and out of each other's lives. Likewise, I'd not begrudge, but rather expect the iconics I'd date to engage in casual hook-ups when I happen to not be around (or on swap night).

Too many iconics in the mix now for me to do a full list of pros and cons for each candidate, so I'll just list my favorites:

Disclaimer: The following is a reflection of my personal preferences on who among the iconics I would prefer to date, not a judgement on their worth as human sentient beings. Respecting someone and being attracted to them as a theoretical potential partner are two very different things.

So w/o further ado...

Merisiel
Pros: non-monogamous, spontaneous
Cons: mercurial, weird age-gap, "Never the sharpest knife in the drawer"
Verdict: might be fun for the occasional one-night hook-up, but I'd pass on long-term "dating"

Kyra
Pros: Dedicated, fiery
Cons: Already in a committed relationship
Verdict: nah, she's taken

Seelah
Pros: Strong sense of justice, history of overcoming adversity, badass warrior-woman
Cons: Might be a bit busy smiting evil sometimes for "pleasures of the flesh"?
Verdict: Worth a shot?

Amiri
Pros: history of overcoming adversity, badass warrior-woman, very independently-minded
Cons: When she gets mad, watch out!
Verdict: yeah, worth a shot!

Lini
Pros: Nature-oriented, eccentric, gnomes are pint-size packages of awesome!
Cons: None that come to mind
Verdict: now we're talking!

Alahazra
Pros: Strong sense of justice, fiery, kind
Cons: distant. Also, I never really cared for the lack of focused theme in the "divine sorcerer" Oracle class.
Verdict: pass

Reiko
Pros: Ninja!
Cons: "Cool and aloof"
Verdict: maybe?

Feiya
Pros: One of my favorites, overcame horrible childhood, good-natured, and generally all-around awesome style
Cons: lacking in social graces, awkwardness
Verdict: Definitely!

Imrijka
...don't know enough about her personality from the "meet the Iconics section". But sure, why not?

Kess
Pros: badass fight-club pugilist gal, disdains the nobility, free-spirited
Cons: easily bored?
Verdict: perhaps

Adowyn
Pros: badass hunter-woman, nature-oriented, redhead
Cons: None that come to mind
Verdict: A romp in the woods with her and Lini sounds like my idea of a good time! :)

Estra: too old for me! Next!

Rivani
Pros: non-monogamous, intelligent, well-traveled (even for an adventurer), introspective, cultured
Cons: None that come to mind
Verdict: Worth it for however long it may last

Top 3: Lini, Feiya, Adowyn, in no particular order.

Any of the female iconics except Estra( too old for me....besides her husband is hanging around as a ghost and might not take to her dating kindly) and Shardra ( just not attracted to dwarves).

Oh yeah, the whole "ghostly husband hanging around" thing - almost forgot about that. Could make things slightly awkward. Especially if he likes to watch. Unless you're into that sort of thing. ;P

As for Shardra... while I respect trans folk and support them having equal rights and etc., I'm just personally not sexually attracted to someone who was born physically male.

Personal preferences, moving on.

BTW, did we ever get any official word on which of the iconics are straight, bi, homosexual, etc? I know Contributor Crystal Frasier said that Golarion doesn't have terms like "transgender" or "homosexual." Obviously, it doesn't have terms like "lesbian", from the real-life Greek Isle of Lesbos in the Aegean Sea, home of the famous female poet Sappho (origin of the term "Sapphic"), who, if her letters were any indicator, was actually bisexual. But Golarion would have the concepts and their own terminology for them, like the Dwarven "rivethun" (a catch-all for feminine trans women and intersex folk).

It's never stated explicitly that he's a Kinsey 1, and I think Valeros would make for a great night in the hay with a boy if the right opportunity/sufficient quantities of beer presented itself!

I'm not sure if I would want to date any of the iconic gals (they are too stylized for me to find them attractive), but could I get Valeros to be my wingman?

Feiya and Seoni for me, I've always been into blondes. Though I would never date them at the same time, they'd curse me into oblivion/burn me to a crisp!

Ha! Reta come with song and fireworks! Make entrance like WWE superstar! Val-guy never kill dog! Reta Bigbad only real iconic fighter!

I would totally want to try to woo Rivani with food.

I'd want to have Enora as a tutor who awakens a talent for magic within me.

I'd join Alahazra's cult any day of the week.

I'd like to feed Feiyah's fox and learn from her, but would pointedly avoid asking about her past.

I like Seelah, but couldn't imagine dating her.

Kess and Seoni both suffer from the blonde, which isn't my thing. Though I would go drinking with Kess, just...well, would direct her elsewhere. Especially given the peril it would put my teeth in.

I really dig Imrijka, but the interest strikes me as non-reciprocal.

Liri is adorable but likely not into humans.

Lirianne is interesting, even aside from her firearms focus.

Shadra is intersting for wholly different reasons, and likely has either an absence of interests or otherwise precluded.

Reiko I would want to do the full tilt courtship for, and ironically is the one I would totally take home to mom...in part because my mom would host a lovely tea ceremony for her, though it would be Japanese rather than Minkaian.

Seconded, it'd be like dating a female Peter Parker, only a lot more rigid and strait-laced.

Ezren? He's got a bit of a Christopher Lee vibe.

Doesn't matter. Whichever one fits the criteria. :-)

Not for me - if anything it would be more like trying to date the Attorney General, except her boss has her perpetually on call even more than the President.

I'd respect her immensely, but her job would always come first, and I wouldn't be able to begrudge that.

Actually, there's really no question. Lirianne all the way. Gorgeous, strong-willed, smart enough to be a successful cop, with a sense of wonder and adventure. I'm soooooo there.

I too choose Lirianne for pretty much all the same reasons.

Selytiel, Alain

The Exchange

Quinn. We could investigate so many things together!

He has that whole Scarlet Pimpernel/Sherlock Holmes vibe...like a Garundi Leslie Howard...<Le sigh>
