I'm creating a playful association and members have decided to name the "Cheliax" association. i know Cheliax is "Product Identity" My question is if I use Cheliax as name for a asocioacion?
if not possible, I have alternate names but liked that.

You're best bet is to email Mike Kenway at mike.kenway@paizo.com since he doesn't have access to licensing@paizo.com as I found out in Paizo con.

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

Our Community Use Policy outlines how you may be able to use things like that.

licensing@paizo.com is used for communication about open licenses such as our Community Use Policy and the Pathfinder RPG Compatibility License. Mike Kenway is the coordinator for *commercial* licenses.

i read the community use policy, (sorry english no is my strong)
i read too the Frequently Asked Questions. this call my atention.

I may "descriptively reference" trademarks, proper names, locations and characters from products listed in Section 1 of the Community Use Approved Product List. What do you mean by "descriptively reference"?
In general, this means you may create and publish original works using those things in a variety of ways. You can write original fiction or adventures using them, you can create original artwork illustrating them, you can write up entries in a wiki about them, and more. (You may not, however, simply republish significant sections of descriptive text from our products—you need to craft new text.)

cheliax how name i think is in section 1 of community use approved product list, and view too a variety things you can do.

I think we create a society with the name of Cheliax can be done, but I want to be sure. I intend to promote RPGs, have no problems with their publishers.

Sorry for my english.

Thank you but I'm not going to be doing anything that would merit communicating with either two address again out of respect for the majority of Employees who work at Paizo and are extremly nice. I won't let a few bad experiences ruin Paizo for me and wish the Original poster luck.

I'm not sure who Brian Lewis is but if I find a mail or email with a Cease and Desist for making and giving out gifts then it's a little silly as I have done nothing legally wrong. Brian Lewis isn't even on this list.

I do however appreciate Paizo's time on answering my inquiry.

Right—the Community Use Policy allows you do what I think you want to do—but in order to use it, you have to do all of the things is says you have to do, and you can't do any of the things it says you can't do. You can't just say "oh, the policy exists, so I'm good"—you have to actually follow through with everything the policy says.

Brian is our attorney; he's not on that page because he's not a Paizo employee (and because the public should not be contacting him—that's what me and Mike are for!).

So long as you can and do adhere to our Community Use Policy, you're not going to get in trouble for giving out gifts that use our intellectual property—that's what that policy is for. You can only get in trouble using our IP if you don't, won't, or can't follow the policy.
