a ROTR question about traits

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

me and my GF have dusted off our cards and went back into the grind on ROTR, and I remember reading somewhere about crown of charisma not defeating ieasha foxglove, that it would win the check, but wouldn't give it the magic trait and therefore wouldn't actually defeat ieasha, and so that leads me to question if that is correct, why doesn't the crown work because the crown does have the magic trait, basically what counts for purposes of adding traits, when do they not get added? etc.? also had the question about enfeeble and monsters immune to the mental trait, but im going to assume that those monsters cant be enffebled?

The traits of the card are only added if they are played during "Determine Which Die (Skill) You're Using". The Crown is played during "Play Cards and Use Powers that Affect the Check." So it doesn't add its traits.

Determine Which Die (Skill) You're Using I'll be using Diplomacy.
Play Cards and Use Powers That Affect the Check I'll play Crown of Charisma.

Confirmation from Vic.

Enfeeble has the Mental trait. The immunity rules (among other things) prohibit you from playing cards with the trait a monster is immune to. So you couldn't play Enfeeble.

alright, so to clarify, enfeeble cant be used against a monster immune to the mental trait?

Sovereign Court

As for the immunities question, immunities don't only affect what traits the check can have. If a monster is immune to something, no card with that trait can be played against it, in addition to not being able to have that trait on the check. The second part is especially important because some cards, like elemental weapons, don't have the element as a trait themselves, but add the trait to the check if you use a certain power.

Yeah. I missed that the first time through. I was editing to add it back in, but Andrew has you covered.
