Picking up Beastmaster Archetype

Pathfinder Society

Playing a lvl 5 character (fighter 1/ranger 4). I'm not content with the animal companion list given to rangers upon reaching their 4th lvl of ranger. Would it be legal to switch the 4 levels of ranger to the Beastmaster Archetype? Would this just be at the discretion of my venture captain?

The only legal way you can do that is using the retraining rules from ultimate campaign.
You can read all details in the guide to organized play on page 10.

Oh ok, I'll read up. Thank you!

Grand Lodge 4/5

Depends on whether your PC has been played at 4th level Ranger, yet, and whether the archetype switches out anything from lower levels.

Remember, if the archetype hasn't changed anything for the levels you played the class at, and you haven't played it at a level where there are differences, then you can switch into it for free in PFS, IIRC.

Silver Crusade 4/5

If you are not yet a 4th level ranger, but a 4th level character the cost will be 5 prestige & 200 gp to retrain the class skills class feature.

If you are a 4th level ranger/ 5th level character, the cost will be 10 prestige & 500 gp as you will also need to retrain the hunter's bond class feature.

Beastmaster alters class skills so it's lvl 1 and up archetype.

I am a 5th lvl character, but just earned my 4th lvl of ranger with the completion of my last session played. I have yet to play a session with my 4th lvl of ranger.
