Harrowstone possible base of operations

I'm wondering once the PC have cleared out Harrowstone. I'm thinking of having the town council possibly gifting the prison to the PCs. It seems like a waste for such a place to be left abandoned.

I don't see why not. But the PCs won't get to make use of it during the campaign, as they'll be traveling across Ustalav.

Good to know as I'm just beginning to read the second module. Maybe getting some use between modules.

Possibly, but there's not a lot of integrated downtime to spend on fixing the place up as-written.

You'd have to make some changes to justify the PCs getting significant downtime - mostly they're chasing enemies who appear to be on the verge of doing something apocalyptic. And I'm not sure what the PCs would want to do with an abandoned ruined haunted prison in the middle of nowhere.

Perhaps the players could have rehabilitating the place as a long-term goal, and you could wind up the AP with them returning full circle to claim and restore it.

Not sure it'd be a gift so much as a sequel in the making; there might be other prisoners' ghosts to deal with.
