Cavalier teamwork feat questions (and Tengu)

Hi all,

A couple of question re cavaliers:

1. Is the Mounts a Companion for the purposes of feat prereqs? For example, does a cavalier, whose Mount features says:

Mount (Ex): A cavalier gains the service of a loyal and trusty steed to carry him into battle. This mount functions as a druid's animal companion, using the cavalier's level as his effective druid level.

Qualify for Pack Flanking, which says:

Prerequisites: Int 13, Combat Expertise, ability to acquire an animal companion.

2. Do you count as adjacent to you mount when you are riding it? Clearly you are not adjacent to it horizontally, since you are sharing its space, but an argument can be made for vertical adjacency.

I suspect not, since quite a lot of teamwork feats specify "adjacent or sharing your space", which seems to be aimed at mounts. But I thought I'd check.

ETA: One I forgot:

4. Is there any reason (other than the name) I could not get a Horsemaster's Saddle for something other than a horse?

Bonus non-cavalier question to avoid spamming threads:

3. If a Tengu attacks with just its beak, as a sole natural attack it adds 1.5x its Strength bonus, right? I think it should, but it seems odd that the Tengu entry in Dragon Empires Gatezeer does not include a reminder it since that is not a rule most players (as opposed to GMs) would normally need to know about.

IMHO:
1)Yes
2)No, but you are sharing your space; Note: Pack flanking is a really cool feat.
3)Yes, 1.5 strength
4) You can use it on any mount (even that orc barbarian in your party/ if your GM allows to ride him). For tigers, dinosaurs, vermin... it works 100% (Though teamwork feat and vermin might be incompatible if vermin have no INT - subject to GM approval).

More specifically for Pack Flanking, it specifically calls out that it works if it's "sharing your square"--which a mount is. Even if you disagree that you're adjacent to your mount, Pack Flanking works regardless in this situation.

And yeah, Pack Flanking is awesome and definitely works for a cavalier on his mount. But it is not the teamwork feat out there, and not all of them have the "or sharing your space" language.

The adjacent question has never been answered, but has been widely accepted using the within 5' definition provided in the CRB making a melee attack.

Melee Attacks: With a normal melee weapon, you can strike any opponent within 5 feet. (Opponents within 5 feet are considered adjacent to you. )

Not as clear and cut as some prefer and local GMs may differ in opinion, but its safe to assume it will work or else casters and familiars aren't adjacent when the bird is sitting on his shoulder or his greensting scorpion is snug in his familiar satchel.
