Minimum Size

Rules Questions

Is there a minimum size that a player's character can be? If so, what is it?

do you mean to start with or with magic?
because with magic (polymotph spells. and maybe wld shape etc) you can take the smalles size(i dont remmber what is smaller fine or diminituve)

In general, PC races are always medium or small at character creation.

Magic used in play can adjust their size.

Fine is the smallest possible size category, that is usually reserved for swarms of things. Diminutive is the next smallest. I'm not sure how small one can become using the various polymorph spells, but I think this is largely unimportant.

I think the general answer you're looking for is that playable races only go down to small.

You could magic jar into a diminutive body and use reduce animal to become fine.

Just curious here, is there anything that allows the use of equipment that is a size category smaller than a creature is?

Maybe something opposite of Powerful Build, like "Slender Build" or "Under-sized"?

Certain monsters, such as centaurs, driders, and lamias, have the Undersized Weapons special quality, which causes them to wield weapons as if one size smaller. It's not optional, though. :)

Rod of Wonder is unreliable, but one of the possible outcomes is shrinking the wielder by two size categories for 1 day.

It's pretty easy to become tiny, but any smaller than that presents certain problems in terms of game balance. By RAW, martial characters are penalized by size differences but magic characters are not. A fine-sized spellcaster would be extremely difficult to find and/or hit but would not receive any penalty to their damage output or the power of their controlling spells.

@Queen Moragan: The Ring of Perfect Sizing is pretty nice. It makes it so you can use any single item within two size categories of yourself, with some limits.

Also, even if your campaign isn't mythic, the Ascendant Spell feat gives some access to mythic reduce person. :)

Once dex to damage became a thing that changed, up to a certain point. But it is still true.

Remember that worn armor has its AC value halved at tiny or smaller.

A tiny or smaller spellcaster could ride in a familiar satchel worn by some other pc and cast from there while being protected himself.

Dangit... I wanted to make a Nac Mac Feagle... Also, can paladins worship a non LG god?

The Advanced Race Guide is where I'd go for pictsies... try the Race Builder. :)

Paladins can worship LG, NG, or LN gods. Each god tends to foster a different sort of paladin depending on their teachings.

:( So... no drunk paladin of Cayden Cailean... dangit again

For a martial and mildly-divine servant of the Accidental God, check out the Sentinel from Inner Sea Gods. :)

EDIT: Here's what I would do:

5 levels of fighter (mutation warrior, Ustalavic duelist) into sentinel. Fluff the mutagen as a divinely-inspired libation. The duelist archetype gives the weapon training (light blades) class feature, which is important for one of Cayden Cailean's boons. Plus, it's awesome at stabby. :)

Cool, thanks!

Even with dex to damage, that is still a problem. You have to cross the enemy's threatened area adn enter into his square if you are tiny or below.

You basically make almost each and every fight into one against giants. You need rather specific build in order to do this.

It's rather obvious that if the campaign isn't mythic, this spell isn't going to be around.

Why do you say that?

(If your GM says mythic content is not ok, then content from the mythic book is not ok :P)
