Mammoth spirit's Megafauna Companion

Rules Questions

Megafauna Companion (Su):
The shaman's spirit animal transforms into a megafauna animal companion, using the shaman's shaman level as her effective druid level. The shaman must choose an arsinoitherium, a mastodon, a megaloceros, or another mammalian megafauna that has animal companion statistics. It retains its Intelligence score and the special abilities it gains from the spirit animal class feature, but it also has the statistics and abilities of an animal companion. If the animal companion is dismissed, lost, or dies, it can be replaced in the same way as a normal spirit animal.

My question is how much of the familiar is retained by the animal companion?

It looks like the spirit stops being a familiar entirely, and becomes an animal companion. I believe there was a long discussion as to whether an animal companion could even be a familiar, and I think the answer was no.

But if you are not doing PFS, you can always house rule some hybrid.

The text says "Intelligence score and the special abilities it gains from the spirit animal class feature", so that is what it retains. So you keep the int and special columns of the familiar rules and stick those over animal companion.
