Hi, everyone! Here's a link to the event if you're getting here through the forums directly.
I'm really excited to be running this game, and I'm happy to answer questions if you have them.

Hi Winslow - my son and I both got into this game, and we're excited to play semi-insane vigilantes!
A little about us: I've played RPGs off and on since the early '80's, and have been playing Pathfinder for about 4 years now. My son is 13 (almost 14) and has played Pathfinder for 3 years, playing several times a week in his after-school program (lucky dog!) and PFS with me. Just so you know, for planning purposes, he's very well-versed in the rules and basically plays as an experienced adult.
Now, a question: the game description says in one place that we will use pregens. In another place it says pre-gens are available and gives character build guidelines. Which is it? I'm happy to go either way, but it'd be helpful to have a little time to build something if that's the way we go.
On a related note: obviously, if we're making our own characters, there are ways to make non-lethal damage easier or more effective (an obvious example, I had a ranger who ran around with a merciful greatsword for a while). Do you encourage us to put something like that together, or should we avoid getting too focused on that aspect of the mechanics? I don't want to get all min/maxy in making a character, but there might be some fun character personality or history bits that surface from training to hurt or incapacitate rather than kill people.
Thanks!

Regarding the pre-gen characters: it is definitely optional to use pre-gens. I may have typoed my event submission, and I will ask about correcting that detail on Monday.
Regarding your second question: min/maxing for nonlethal damage will not be inherently necessary and the pre-gens (if anyone does use them) will not be built in that way. The tone I had originally imagined for the game was a little more on the side of comical and cinematic. That said, I will try to plan for and take queues from the players. My prime goal is to make the game as fun for everyone as possible, so if someone wants to come in swinging for 34d1000 nonlethal damage I will do my best to accommodate that.
I'm glad everyone's already getting excited to play. I am too, and I think it will be great! Happy to answer any other questions.

Hey, looking forward to the game. Also looking forward to having Khelreddin and his son in the game -- it was fun having his son in my "Find Jatembe!" game last year!
I have a few of ideas for characters, but haven't built one yet. Probably I'll end up with one sort of Shelyn worshipper or another. I might go wizard with all kinds of enchantment and illusion effects, but I'm also thinking perhaps a maneuvery-Monk. Or, perhaps, an Investigator who just talks everybody to sleep with extensive lectures based on Knowledge skills. (That's a little bit too much like me in real life, though, what with being a college professor....)

Hey, rknop, so glad we'll be playing this together! My son really loved your Jatembe game, I'm looking forward to being at a table with you.
Zlata - do you play PbP here with a character by that name? If so, you and I played a Confirmation game a while back, will be nice to play in person.
As far as characters, I've got a few ideas bubbling. Something like Lenny from Of Mice and Men (but hopefully a bit less tragic), who is immensely strong and has to be very careful not to hurt things all the time. Another thought I had was a thuggish type (maybe using the new Unchained rogue) who was once a rising star in a thieves' guild and had to kill someone as a test, but found out afterward how seriously he was being tested, when he learned he killed someone dear to him, like a sister. This experience turned him to the path of good, and he refuses to use lethal damage, even against the bad guys, because he knows the harm it does. Even bad guys have sisters...

Zlatah - Wow, really? So is this alias with the same name and pic just a crazy coincidence, or is there some character I don't know about you guys have based your aliases on? Weird.
Anyway, PaizoCon is a blast, this is the third one my son and I have been to, looking forward to playing with you.

GM, question: if I build a Monk, can I make it an Unchained monk? (Unchained isn't on your list of allowed resources.)
Yep! I'm fine with Unchained monk and rogue. Thank you for asking.
Feel free to ask if there's other things from Unchained you're curious about. I didn't want to blanket allow it and then have to tell people "no" or make a big list for the unused sections. It's much more fun to tell people "yes," and easier for me to keep track of just the variant rules the players want to use.

Two traits?
Also, if so, can we select them from the Ultimate Campaign trait list?

Yes, two traits, and yes I'm fine with taking the traits from Ultimate Campaign.

Okay, got a character together - a lanky half-orc who worked as an enforcer and murdered for the thieves' guild for years and vowed to change his ways. He looks like the nastiest, tattooed bad guy you could ever meet, and uses that to stop evil-doers!
Mechanically, he's a rogue 4/monk 1 (using the unchained version of each!), who is pretty good at grappling and thwacking bad guys, and has a few ways he can debuff them - good Intimidate bonus with Enforcer feat, unchained rogue Debilitating Injury ability. Looking forward to playing him and trying out the new mechanics in a wacky setting!

Looks like we have pretty close to the full party reporting here!
Looking through the posts, here's our party make-up:
Cleric of Irori
Gnome wizard (enchanter)
Gnome bard
Rogue 4/monk 1
Fighter who thinks he's a paladin (this is my son's character)
Sounds like a party that will be both fun and functional!
