101 Uses for an Unseen Servant

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

You've all heard it before. Unseen servants come in handy. Seriously. My question is: HOW handy? Better than Grease? More useful than a Bag of Tricks? So let us come together in the name of United Pathfinder Fans Against Boredom (UPFAB) and list 101 uses for a seemingly endlessly useful spell:

1-Caltrop Delivery System: Have it move 15ft forward and scatter caltrops

2-Potion Administration: It's only a standard action, and how hard can it be to pour a potion down an ally's throat?

3-Crossbow Reloader: Because I don't have enough BAB or Feats for Rapid Reload.

4-Weapon Holder: In case I need a free hand for . . . something

5-Door Opener: Sometimes you don't want to be the one to open that particular door.

While back, someone in my party use Unseen Servant to solve the classic 'get sheep and wolf on other side of river without the wolf eating the sheep' in wall puzzle form. Naturally the puzzle activated a huge trap that would've likely killed us, but it didn't!

6. Pissing off your DM =D

7. Trapspringer. Fill a bag with 100 lbs. of worthless items (rocks, sand, spoiled foodstuffs, whatever) and have the unseen servant drag the bag in whatever direction the party wants to travel. It is advisable to bring multiple bags or have decent sewing skills.

Grand Lodge

8. Disarm Buddy: Picking up weapons as soon as they are disarmed. Disarm and grab. :)

9. The Silencer: STEP 1- Cast Silence on a rock. STEP 2- Have Unseen Servant carry rock of silence up to BBEG. STEP 3- BBEG moves away. Unseen Servant follows with the silence rock.

10. Pick up anything the enemy has been disarmed of and drag it over to me.

11. Clean up the battlefield afterwards.

12. Polish my armor.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

13. Distraction (Knocks on doors, rustles some leaves, lift cups in a crowded bar, ect.) Once used it to distract a guard by throwing a white sheet with two holes on the servant, and telling it to 'walk' in front and then away from him. Sheet ghost for the win.

Scarab Sages

14. Seat guests at a swanky dinner party.

15. Doorman.

16. Deliver a life preserver.

17. Carry a plate of fresh meat across water to safely lure sharks and the like to the surface.

18. Carry a large magnifying glass through a swarm to focus sunlight into it.

19. Safely clean perilous-to-reach surfaces (skyscraper windows, the Sphinx's nose, etc).

20. Safely muck out a dangerous monster's room.

21. Retrieve an object from a room filled with poison gas/baleful magic/vacuum/similar perils.

Shadow Lodge

22: bellboy
23: hold a bar at about knee level in a hallway to trip people as they run by... Hmm what would be the CMB for that

22. Handle scenery changes for stage plays.

23. Treantmonk says it best in his God Wizard guide: "Use to carry your stuff, or make sure that other wand is handy, or to massage your back after a long day of putting down the fighter ."

24. Make a 101 topic.

25. Scratch butt and pick nose without getting caught

26. Make shift obedient pet. Tie a rope around a small rock, or any light weight object, and unseen servant it to walk, heel, play fetch. " Don't mind me folks, just taking my pet rock out for a walk."

Grand Lodge

27. Grab the guard's keys off the desk. The material components are only a piece of string and a bit of wood. That's not too hard to scrounge up, even if you're stripped of all your items and tossed in a dank, dark cell (I know, because I did this recently).

Of course, Mage Hand can do the same thing and has no material components. Unseen servant, however, lasts for hours with a single casting, thereby not exposing you to risk by repeat/close range castings.

28. Paint your house.

29. Make your bed.

30. Wash your dishes.

31. Pack your suitcase.

32. Mine carries all my stuff for my STR <10 casters.

33. It fetches different wands/rods/potions for me so I don't provoke in combat. (yes, one AOE and it's gone, but I have like 7xday with my bard who almost never uses 1st level spells now)

34. I have used one to pour poison into food/drink while sneakily observing an enemy camp.

35. Carry a catnip/scent items when confronted with animals/pets.

36. Fake an invisible opponent failing to sneak across the battlefield.

37. Handy assistant to the cook.
