I'm reading through the new Daughters of Fury module, and I came upon

SPOILER:

Yvogga, the tiefling summoner.
My issue is, her eidolon is assumed to be out and available for fighting, but then in her "During Combat" section, it says that she summons monsters. Her summon monster SLA, though, can't be used when her eidolon is summoned. Is this a mistake?

RPG Superstar 2014

She doesn't summon monsters with her SLA, but with the summon monster scrolls in her gear.

Aha! Got it, makes more sense now. Thanks Victoria! I'm looking forward to running this one for my players. :)

No problem! Hope they have lots of fun... keep 'em on the ropes. ;)

Chapter 2 question:

Spoiler:
When PCs are supposed to go out and talk to folks in the Borderlands, page 19 tells all about the various terrains and suggests using the rules for Overland Movement from the Core rulebook to determine how long it takes PCs to get from place to place - important as there are random encounters to check for every hour they are out there...

But the map of the borderlands on page 20 has no scale.

"In general, most characters can walk along the Path Road and its branching trails at a rate of just over 2 miles (or 2 squares on the map) per hour. If the PCs are on horseback, they can easily travel 3 miles per hour on the road and trails."

So there should be a scale of 1 square = 1 mile.. But there are no squares.

How far away are the various homesteads supposed to be?

In the absence of any official ruling, I'm using 1 cm = 1 mile, and using Ye Olde String Trick to figure out how far my PCs are travelling...

Ye Olde String Trick - I'm laying a piece of string along the path, curving it to follow the path, then marking where it ends. I then stretch the string straight and measure. That's how far the PCs have to travel.

Here's a question - How is Yvogga able to cast sleep? Her stat block shows this as a 2nd level spell, yet that spell does not exist on the summoners spell list. What am I missing?

A correction. Yvogga's stat block lists sleep as 1st level spell.

Well, I just ran it for a party of new and fairly new players. They had a really good time with it as did I running it. Two of the encounters can be somewhat overpowering- the one with the Bearded devil and then the final one with Shayle. Yvogga was a lot of fun to play as I have not used Summoners before and just dropping random monsters onto the battlefield was fun.

The party essentially "broke even" as they defeated shayle but only after she flew down from Eiseth's Roost and essentially did a flying bull rush into the Half Orc and she died upon impact. The paladin of the group was able to nail Shayle for 60 pts of damage on a smite evil.

The adventure went a bit better than I thought it would and there were some memorable moments in it. Not bad all in all.
