Hi in my friends home-brew campaign that takes place in Galt I am playing a pathfinderized low level version of Slade Wilson (Deathstroke). He is a 5th level Slayer wielding a whip-wood quarter staff, two katanas, and a crossbow. Any advice as for feats and just generally how to play and role-play Deathstroke? So far I had him assassinate a belligerent dwarf who was giving the party problems.

If it were me I would play a crusader cleric1/ monkX of Shizuru. Grab crusaders flurry at level 3 and your set. Slade was not a deeply charismatic man but be did know what to say to influence folks so I'd take conversion inquisition to represent this. From that point on just stick the bonus feats the monk give and decide where you want to go from there. Would be easy to have several style feats.
Guided hand feat is also worthwhile if you seek wisdom being how he fights (closer to Raz I think though). Weapon adept monk is a worthy alternative to vanilla monk.

I am stuck with the 5 levels of slayer as he as already been introduced to some of the party. I am basing him partially off DC Comics Slade Wilson but also off the TV show Arrow interpretation of Slade Wilson. Mostly what I am looking for is roleplaying suggestions and advice on advancing the current version that I have. I can post the build if necessary.

RP advice.. Arrow Slade was gruff at first but once he warmed up to people he wasn't so bad. So don't be a mustache twirling villain from the start.
Also, maybe mix some broken glass and gravel in a blender, add some motor oil, and down it before a session. It should be just enough to give you that awesome manly voice.

First off, I may not know a lot about the Deathstroke (shame he is awesome) but I wouldn't consider him anywhere near a mustache twirling villain. I would say he would fall into the category of chaotic neutral. Does whatever if the price is right kinda guy if my limited knowledge is correct. It may be troublesome to deal with as I am unaware of the alignment of your party, but generally your willingness to do something should be based on whether you feel you are being compensated adequately. You are a mercenary no two ways around it you are in this for money. Your party should be considered as tools to get the job done until they have earned your respect. As I said this could be frustrating for the party to deal with but that is sort of my impression of deathstroke, however strictly you wish to go by this is obviously up to you.

Aren't guns kinda worthless without rapid reload though? Maybe I should just stick to swords and the occasional crossbow. Unless I could talk my GM into letting me replace dodge or power attack with exotic weapon proficiency fire arms and then take rapid reload at 6th level. Or is it more affective to just focus on two weapon fighting (my version of Slade fights with his fists, a quarterstaff, and two sawtoothe sabres).

I thought Wakizashis are also exotic weapones
They are. Both they and the sawtooth sabers are not worth the feat for proficiency imo. If you are getting it for free via class or race, fine, but I wouldn't waste a feat on it.
That said, Samurai resolve is a great way to mimic Slade's toughness to kill, and gives your proficiency and bonuses with the wakizashis.
If staying pure slayer, I would use shortswords or kukris.

You sure? I checked and the traitbis called adopted and I lookedd up swordtrained and that wasnt an alternatate racial trait.
What he means is you'd be able to take a race trait of another race, race traits are another category of traits akin to combat, magic, faith, social, equipment, ect...
Swordtrained is a racial trait, not the same thing.

I think you should keep going with slayer Pick one weapon and become the King of that. DC villaens live by other rules than PF PCs and in PF deathstroke would only use one weapon since that is the best.
Slade is kind of the best at what he does. And that is the feel you should go with. Use your massive int to get goos skills in everything you want to do and UMD. The UMD can simulate the occational super tech that a good tech villain like deathstroke have. Make maximum use of studied target on the skill Rolls and flaunt you superioity. I would use a two handed weapon and distance my self a little bit from the image of Wilson slade to get a little bit more of the feeling:) and i would make him a Master of the dirty trick maneuver since that is a exelent way to turn the tablet on annoying heroes just like Deathstroke often does when some Teen Titan think he is winning.
Edit: the dirty trick comment is more about the feel of playing a guy that feel superior in PF than how slade use dirty tricks in the comic( we have newer seen him pull Down someones pants) it is a way to get a little narrative power in battle.

Take the Extra Slayer Talent feat twice, selecting rogue talent: firearm training and rogue talent: grit to give you proficiency in guns, amateur gunslinger feat, and any grit feat(I would take blind-fight first as slade is good at that, and it's a prereq for the ricochet shot deed feat which allows you to get sneak attacks with guns at any range) For gear I would say dual sawtooth sabre's, a pistol, a dagger, an adventurer's sash, an eye patch, a battle mask(when you become slade), and for armour/clothes a soldier's uniform combined with a mithril breastplate seems accurate.

Also is their anything even close to a sniper rifle thats an early fire arm?
If you attach a Far-Reaching Sight onto a double hack-but in conjunction with Sniper Goggles you should be able to replicate the effect.

What exactly does a gunslinger get that couldn't be replicated with feats? Also in Arrow, Slades primary weapon was the sword, guns were his secondary weapon, although he was good with them.
You need Lots of feats to replicate the gunslinger class features and you will still miss out on dex to damage and the high level deeds.
So yes you can throw in some 7 feats and be a second grade ranged character.Helcack |
Personally I don't think gunslingers are very good for this particular build, the difference is some good deeds for more options with your gun and getting dexterity to damage with your gun are the two non-replicable things with feats. I would grab Pathfinder Unchained when it comes out and ask your DM if you could use variant multiclassing rules with Gunslinger maybe to get the most accurate representation of Slade(give up half your feats, get some gunslinger stuff)
Gwyndrath |
Instead of multiclasding I would need a good solid way to deal damage. I think sneak attack might be a good alternative. What might be some good ways to get dneak attack? I was thinking feinting. On a side note, the feats i now plan to take are:
Feat instead of two traits( my Gm allows that) blind fight
1st: Exotic weapon proficiency Sawetoothe saber
Bonus: Improved unarmed strike
Ranger Combat style: TWF
3rd:Extra Slayer talent: Rogue Talent: firearm training
Slayer talent:Double Slice
5th: Extra Slayer talent: Rogue talent: grit (ricochet shot)
Slayer talen: Ranger combst style: Two weapon feint or rend
7th: quick draw or power attack
