Solid Base for the Build Idea

Advice

Heylo all,

So I am looking to make a Sylph Wizard (starts at level 5) I like the idea of using obscuring mist scrolls, scribe scrolls ability and cloudgazer but I am really stuck as to what school to follow otherwise, spell sage really appeals but so does Storm and Wind. I want to be able to move around and do as much damage as possible, if stationary I want to be protected from ranged attacks. I have some idea as to what I will grab for my spells from the cantrips etc. but any advice is appreciated. There's so much more choice then I recall (played this a few years back) and I am a gemini with OCD lol

Thanks for the aid, no opinion will go un-considered

Cheer and Thanks a lot

Sylph Guy `

If you haven't read any Wizard guides, I'd probably skim through them.

Otherwise, from your description, I'd pick Admixture Evocation or Teleportation Conjuration and move on. I could use a bit more description of how you envision your character, and how important optimization is for you as a player.

Also, what is "Storm and Wind"?

Thanks for the reply, My GM doesn't allow 3rd party so Wind and "Storm Theme" (sorry I meant I was going to focus around wind/electricity" build is out. Looking for a mobile wizard who can keep moving and out of melee attack range. Being a Slyph I wanted to capitalize on their racial abilities in the elemental direction but start at low level as more of an effective ranged damage type vs. debuffer.

If you want to blast as a wizard, a one level dip as a sorcerer (crossblooded elemental [air]/draconic [blue or bronze]) will give you +1 damage/die with electrical spells and the ability to make any damaging spells use electricity. Crossblooded orc/draconic is +2/die with electrical, +1 with others, but may not match your theme.

The conjuration/teleportation subschool seems like the best way to meet your desire to be mobile and stay out of melee range.

Sorry, what do you mean by a one level dip? Starting as a level 4 Sorc and not a level 5 Wizard? I am staying A Sylph as my race for sure

A one level dip is to take only one level in a different, secondary class with the intent of enhancing the primary class.

Avr is suggesting to take 1 level in Sorcerer, but to take the rest of the levels in Wizard.
Specifically, Avr is suggesting to take the Crossblooded archetype and to pick draconic and elemental bloodlines. The draconic bloodline makes all your electricity spells do more damage, and the elemental bloodline lets you change your fire, cold, acid, and sonic spells into electricity spells. This benefit makes your Primary class (Wizard) a stronger electricity caster.

Though I do not disagree with Avr's suggestion, for players who are not comfortable with the amount of rules interactions involved in multiclassing between archetyped classes, I will suggest that a plain Evocation wizard might be good enough to have fun without having to dive into the rulebooks too often.

Thanks for the clarification, couple of years away from this game and my mind is blank lol I like the idea of both though but I also like Djinni too. Thanks again all for the assistance.
