Spell combat

Advice

Magus Level 3: If the Magus cast chilltouch can he attack twice next round with his weapon? I think not because:
If I use spell combat, how many weapon attacks can I make?

You can make as many weapon attacks as you would normally be able to make if you were making a full attack with that weapon. For example, if you are an 8th-level magus (BAB +6/+1), you could make two weapon attacks when using spell combat.

This is a revised ruling about how haste interacts with effects that are essentially a full attack, even though the creature isn't specifically using the full attack action (as required by haste). The earlier ruling implied that spell combat did not allow the extra attack from haste (because spell combat was not using the full attack action).

You get the one free attack when you first cast the spell. That's it.

But if it has multiple charges you can use your other attacks to use up the remaining charges.

Spell combat Chill touch plus spellstrike. Cast spell first, try to deliver with that attack and your full attack.

Next round spell combat, full attack first then cast next spell, losing remaining charges of chill touch. In effect for one spell you can get a free attack and the effects on 2 full attacks.

If you want you can include a regular full attack in between to use up more charges.

That's correct. Having a held charge does not give you extra attacks. You get one attempt to deliver a touch charge as a free action in the same round you cast a touch spell, but only in the round you cast the spell.

So if you use spell combat and cast Chill Touch, you can make two attacks in that round: one from casting Chill Touch that round, and one normal (full) attack.

The next round, you can still deliver Chill Touch charges through your weapon as ChessPwn says, but you must use your normal single attack to do so.

Overexplaining a bit because I'm not entirely sure why you cited that particular FAQ as your reasoning so I want to be extra-clear.

That's correct, the Haste ruling has nothing to do with the question originally put forward.
