I placed at least 1 gp worth of goods into the Machmont AH. This includes T2 refined goods, +2 and +3 refined goods a T2 long sword as well as other items and 20+ recipes.

I also bought 100 coal fir 12 cp each which are safely back - actually I added an extra 8 while passing the plains 2 South if Marchmont.

I hope some of it sells to make it viable to go back and place more stuff in the AH. I tried to set sensible prices - some I saw where just ridiciolous - for 2 sp per lodestone the sword would cost nearly as much just in lodestone alone.

I'm happy to buy stuff we need or which is reasonably priced.

There is a lot of exploitation at Marchmont.

At one point I listed a heap of goods at a much more reasonable price and it was immediately (within 20 minutes) bought out and relisted at the inflated price.

I am sure someone will chip in here with some story about how xxx for coal is only reasonable becasue yyy but basically you would generally be silly shopping at Marchmont you are better off direct trading with an established settlement.

I'm putting up stuff for a reasonable price as well, Thod. A lot of good gathering hexes around Marchmont. The inflated prices won't matter if their crap doesn't sell. Like eBay. Marchmont isn't going away, might as well help the new peeps.

There is a market in Marchmont. I sold items for approx 80 silver so far. I didn't make a list what I sold for which price. But this means it is worthwhile to bring in stuff again.

Have all my prices be optimised? Likely not - but the 100 brimstone I listed were just clogging up the vault. The T2 longsword also sold. Recipes - well - difficult to tell what sold and what is left. But the list looks a lot shorter.

Bought some 80 coal again. Not much else of use for me.

yes, i traveled to Keeper's Pass on the GW recipe tweets from GW forums and missed out on the deals but found that KP recipes sell at 3x the amount of the equivalent MM recipes

so even if people are resellers they still come in at under most Player settlement AHs at this time

not to mention the opportunity cost of the 20hex travel times

so Marchmont is where it is at this time

It's rather depressing that NPC auction houses are in the game at all, severely reduces the likely hood of folks venturing to new markets when there is such a convenient non-affiliated auction house.

I only occasionally venture out to Marchmont and was unimpressed with the pricing on the few things I checked. I would be curious how our prices are stacking up against the prices there. You can compare using our Auction Search Tool.

(Probably not as much variety yet, but we're working on it.)

Let me know if you want to contract to transport!

Thannon, I agree the NPC auction houses should be closing at some point in the near future. There is little incentive for players to travel to nearby payer settlement markets if the starter town has what they are looking for. Let's hope their days are numbered.

I think you do need one Auction House at the settlement where new players spawn (maybe limited to T1 gear of a low plus) and potentially Thornkeep just because it would be odd for TK not to have an AH.

The rest should disappear though.

Remember, Marchmont is the starter town. They won't stay there. Its up to PC settlements and companies to make it worth while to move. I intend to stay there until I'm properly wooed. ;)

Yeah, Keepers actually does quite well because Kindleburn has died now its no longer a starter town and Golgotha killed off Hammerfell as a viable major trading hub in the first few weeks of the game. We have become the trade and craft center for the South East.

I'm a total idiot. I've been selling in Rathglen, not Marchmont. My bad. But stuff is selling there too.

Yeah if anything Rathglen was originally the NPC trading town to go to however the change where new characters all now spawn at Marchmont seems to have made Marchmont the NPC AH of note.

There is a little bit happens at Thornkeep AH but it is not near as busy as during Alpha.

Keeper's Pass has mainly been a huge crafting and barter center so far but the AH there also starting to pick up nicely, I saw a few spells and maneuvers some T2+1 Dwarven Armor, T1+2 bows and a couple of T1+2 cold iron daggers on there yesterday.
