No organised middle day slots - Does anyone care?

I had a great time last year and didn't do any PFS games because I was new to Pathfinder (but not role playing), and I thought learning a new set of rules AND how to do organized play was a little much.

I actually only played in 2 lottery events, so I spent my time going to seminars, playing card games, painting minis, and playing in those 20 minute delves, which were about my favorite thing to do at the con.

I actually would have liked a few more choices of things to do, and especially this year since I'm bringing my whole family (my wife and daughter have no interest in PFS) having more choices, for me, makes the ticket price increase worth it.

I think saying that PFS is "The reason we go to the con" is a narrow statement that doesn't take into consideration the diverse interests of Paizocon attendees.

Know what makes me mad? The Banquet. So many games I don't get to play while other players are stuffing their faces with tasty food. And I sit outside and angrily munch my...oh, wait, I'm actually attending the banquet this year. Wow! The banquet rules!

And as someone who's not really into PFS, no, I don't care. More room for pickups! ;D

Now that the schedule is out, any comment?

I'm interested in joining and/or starting some PFS games during afternoon slots.

WELL, since you asked, after reviewing the schedule I would say that wac was justified in his concern that there would be little official gaming in the afternoon slots. I see very little room, if any, in the 3rd party offerings that were posted. Players are having to self-organize, much like we said they would.

I do not agree with his position that it would be better to have official PFS tables in the afternoon slots 'because attendees could opt out of that slot to take a break'. Considering the volunteer GMs who cannot make that choice, and the players complaining that they do not have the ability to play the entire Scions of the Sky Key trilogy, there would be attendees who could NOT make that choice. Better to put the onus on the attendee to make sure his days are chock full of gaming than force volunteers to be available on the chance that others want a full 24/7 gaming schedule.

Yeah, i can see how if afternoon slots were offered many people (myself included) would play right through. The volunteer GMs are given a bit of a reprieve this way.

It shouldn't be that difficult to set up some afternoon games either. I'm not sure where the correct place to post them is, but I'm keeping an eye open for it. I'm certainly willing to run a scenario on one of the afternoons, but I'm not sure if I'm better off posting it or just inviting people I meet at the con to participate.

You can submit a game to be added to the schedule for open signup, and there is a Warhorn link floating around for people to self-organize.
