I think we've just about ironed out the issues that have been preventing us from releasing the RotR errata decks as print-on-demand sets through our friends at DriveThruCards, and I expect these to be available in a couple of weeks.

Since we updated a bunch of cards in between the two printings, there will be different options depending on which printing you have.

Owners of first printings will have the following options:
• Updates for the Base Set Box, Adventure Deck 1, and the Character Add-On Deck (66 cards): $6.99
• Updates for Adventure Decks 2-6 (83 cards) $8.99
• Updates for Blessings of the Gods (36 cards) $3.99
• Updates for the full set (185 cards) $19.95
(I broke Blessings of the Gods out as a separate option because the change is pretty minor, and those of you who want to skip replacing those 36 cards will be able to save a few bucks.)

Owners of second printings will have just one option:
• Updates for the full set (79 cards) $7.99

As many of you know, we changed printers between our first two printings, and there's a small difference in both size and color of the cards between printings.

DriveThru has worked up two different card back color profiles with the goal of matching the original color profile of the set that the cards are designed to work with. That is, the first four products listed above will have a cardback that's color-matched as best as possible to the first printing, while the last product will have a cardback that's color-matched as best as possible to the second printing.

For the size issue, cards from our 1st printing are about half a millimeter longer than the cards from our second printing. DriveThru's cards more closely match our second printing cards. I think most people won't have a problem here; if you think you might, I'd suggest you wait for feedback from others before you buy anything.

Also, we are taking no revenue from these decks. The cost you see covers DriveThru's costs plus a small margin for them.

Awesome news. I look forward to purchasing these. Is tomorrow morning too late to verify the list for you?

Ack! I couldn't wait. So I noticed a few things.

1. Dance With Squeally Nord and Goblin Plate +1 aren't on the list. I assume this is because they are promo cards and reprtinting them would be counter to what being a promo card is, but I thought I'd point it out anyway.

2. All the dagger like cards are missing.

B Dagger 3
B Starknife 1
1 Dagger +1 2
2 War Razor +1 2
3 Venomous Dagger +2 2
4 Giantbane Dagger +1 4
5 Dancing Scimitar +2 2

3. Is Monkey just getting new artwork? And Charm Person the now obsolete recharge box? And Runeforged Weapons is what, becoming the "support" type? Honestly, it is great that you go that far, but you could skip those in my opinion.

That is all first printing stuff, since I don't own the second printing. And I haven't looked through the recent shield FAQ. Thanks again for doing this.

Now I must get to bed.

Sovereign Court

Glad to see this is coming around. Here's hoping the size difference of the cards doesn't keep the first editions updates from being usable without sleeves.

Also, is the Sihedron Medallion simply because it has a B instead of 1 for the deck number? I supposed that matters for some things like Feiya's power where the difference of B and 1 means something, but I also wanted to note that I think all the role cards in the C deck have a B on them. Again, I don't think that is worth a reporting since B and C have no functional difference other than sorting the cards back to where they came from.

We have the second printing and I had to check Swipe to see what was wrong with it. If all you are doing is changing "succeed at a check" to "succeed at your check", I can confirm that both Swipes from RotR already say "succeed at your check".

Definitely purchasing this when it come out :)

Oh. Monkey gets the Elite trait too. I guess that is worth a reprint.

What art are you going to use on the reprint of Monkey? I hope it is the art that originally appeared. I've grown attached to the chimpanzee ally that our group named "Monkey." (His full name is Dr. Monkey Banana-pants Monkerson III, Esq.) I'd hate to see some impostor try to secretly replace him and do a poor job of it by looking like a monkey instead of a chimpanzee. Our group would never fall for that. Well, maybe Valeros would with his d4 Wisdom and no skill feats, let alone the perception skill. But the rest of them surely wouldn't be fooled by such a poor disguise.

Just hoping there will be an easy way to send all that to France...

Looking at the Shipping Information at the bottom of the DriveThruCards homepage, I'd say it will be easy to send to France. Unfortunately, it will double the price of the full set deck…

(Books ordered thru DriveThru usually ship for a low fee because they have a print center in Europe. But it looks like cards can only be printed in the USA.)

Considering all the back-n-forth Vic has done with the printer about color coordination, I couldn't imagine having to do that with multiple printers around the globe.

1. Correct.

2. Thanks. I will add those to the appropriate sets for both 1st and 2nd printing (though there are 2 Daggers in the Base Set and 1 in the Add-On Deck, and only 2 Giantbane Daggers in AD 4).

3. As you already figured out, Monkey has a trait issue. (It'll get whichever art is easiest for the production team.) Charm Person is the recharge box—after all, the RotR rules tell you it's supposed to be there. And Runeforged Weapons is in because the printed version technically doesn't tell you how to use it, or whether or not it counts against somebody's deck list.

Right—the set error on Sihedron Medallion is functional, so it'll get fixed; the set errors on the role cards are cosmetic, so they're not getting fixed (although two of them are getting fixed for other reasons).

Turns out it was corrected between printings, so I'm removing it from the 2nd printing pack. Thanks.

Also, I have added the following cards (for both printings):

B Werewolf 1
C Werewolf 1
1 Staff of Minor Healing 2
2 Pidget Tergelson 1

Presumably for a mixed set I should buy the errata decks for the first printing?

My copy came on my subscription, and almost everything is the first printing. But, for some reason, Adventure Deck 3 (The Hook Mountain Massacre) is from the second printing.

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

Correct. And as it happens, all of the changes to deck 3 came after the second printing, so you'll actually need every card there.

I have approved the card back—I shuffled a number of the latest proof from DriveThru together with an assortment of Skull & Shackles cards, and asked a couple of people to sort them into separate DriveThru and Carta Mundi piles, and nobody did it correctly.

I am now proofing the errata decks.

At this point, I will be very surprised if we don't have them up for order by the end of the month.

Grand Lodge

Is there a way to tell what printing an adventure deck is from? I don't own all of RotRl, though I eventually plan to.

Grand Lodge

I'm pretty sure that when it comes to the actual boxes, first look to see if it says Printed in China (and, therefore, 1st printing). Also, if the box opens from the top, it is 1st printing; if it opens from the side, 2nd printing (USA).

Okay, thanks for the info Theryon. I'm guessing that my baseset will say "Printed in China" somewhere as well.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

What Theryon says is accurate, all first printing boxes, including the base set, will say "Printed in China" on them. All second printing boxes say "Second Printing. Printed in the USA."

Second printing adventure deck boxes also are slightly thicker materials, have taller tabs on the top, and open on side instead of the top. The bar code is on the bottom of the second printing boxes, while it is on the back of the first printing boxes.

If you don't have your boxes anymore, you can examine the following cards to determine which printing:

Character add-on: Amulet of Mighty Fists
Deck 2: Toxic Cloud
Deck 3: Swipe
Deck 4: Amulet of Fiery Fists
Deck 5: Blizzard
Deck 6: Corrosive Storm

Compare the powers to the faq. If the text on your cards matches the change in the faq, that deck is a second printing. If it doesn't it is a first printing.

I checked the dealer room at DunDraCon this weekend, and picked up a first printing deck 3!

Awesome! Teacher says every time someone collects a complete first printing, an angel gets it's wings. Or something like that.

Seriously, you probably could have grabbed extra and sold them for a bit of profit, given the number of people looking to complete a first printing set.

They might have had one more (adventure 2, IIRC), but I believe most of the other decks I saw were 2nd printing. I haven't seen any 1st printing boxes (of any adventure deck) when checking my local stores, but I do remember which booth I found my one in. I'll drop a line to a gamer who I know frequents that store.

Thanks for this. But I'm bummed because of:

C=1st
2=2nd
3=2nd
4=2nd
5=1st
6=1st
Base=1st

it Sucks when a villain has a different back than the blessings.

So some how I ended up with 1st printing for everything but the Character Add-On deck based on the info provided by Hawkmoon269. (Thanks BTW)

Didn't have the box so had to look at the Amulet to confirm.

I guess I get the 1st print set and let a few cards look different.

JD

My Base Set and Character Add-on are 2nd printing.
Adventures 2-6 are 1st printing.

Does that mean I only have to get this? :
• Updates for Adventure Decks 2-6 (83 cards) $8.99

Should I still get the 2nd printing pack?
I also don't think I will need the blessing of the Gods pack.

Yep. Also, please note that we've added some cards to most of the packs since the original post, so the prices may be slightly different when they appear.

Liberty's Edge

Would it be possible to get the publisher page set up on DriveThruCards so I can set up notifications there, rather than trying to find this thread for updates every day? :)

It'll happen when it happens. :)

I'm really excited about these and I know you guys are working hard on it, but has there been any mention of a concrete date?

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game Designer

We're done with it, and now we have a process to go through to get it online. We're talking weeks, not months.

Thanks for the updates guys. Will this be a print and play or will we actually get these cards in mail?

The main thing being talked about here is for you to get actual cards in the mail when you purchase these. A while ago Vic mentioned they would also looking at making PDFs available, but I'm not sure if that is still in the plans or not.

Wait, the errata'd cards are a different size?

Wait, the errata'd cards are a different size?

Yes, the cards use the size of the second printing of RotR, so they're slightly shorter than the cards in the first printing.

It seems to me that the only printer anywhere in the world that actually used that slightly larger card size was the original one. The rest don't have a die that size and would need to fabricate one, which is a considerable cost.

Was the size difference noted on the drivethrucards page?

If so Mea Culpa. I ordered the full first printing set. (which is not an insignificant amount of money for a game I had already purchased and supported fully) And I do not have the cards sleeved. I had not followed this thread religiously, nor should I have had to to have known that small yet important tidbit.

So, ~deep breath~ This is the sort of thing that drives consumers batty. I realize you are doing your absolute best to correct an aggregation of errors here. And yet I am left paying for and holding something of extremely marginal use to me unless I pay further dollars on sleeving the full RotR set. Since I use premium sleeves this again will not be an insignificant amount.

I'm not yelling, just trying to provide constructive feedback.

Thankfully it's a cooperative game not a competitive one. Everyone I play with would go out of their way to NOT cheat as it kind of ruins the whole purpose of the game. That said, I sleeved my entire ROtR set with the opaque branded backs so it's probably a non-issue for me either way.

I see backtracking that the size difference is .5mm

I'll live with that. Sorry for the rant.

But to answer you question, I don't think it is noted and it would perhaps be a good idea to do so.

I will add a note to the product descriptions for the 1st printing errata decks.

Awesome!

Will the PDFs be 1st printing size or 2nd printing size?

We'll post them all, so I assume they will be the correct size for their printings. I Am Not A Graphic Designer, though.
