Weeellllll get to work and do the third book I'll read it :)

thanks for making it clear that the book club is open to anyone!

I also would really enjoy seeing Neila and Salim get on each other's nerves again (and based on the popularity of Chris Jackson's books, a little romance isn't something the Pathfinder readers shy away from)! One of the reasons I am eager to talk about the Redemption Engine is how much more impressed I was with Salim after that book than this first one. I would really, genuinely like to see Salim and Neila butt heads now, when they've both grown into much healthier people.

So I just read this whole thing over lunch. I really liked it. I had a few issues with what the main character was (class et al.), but overall I liked the characters, setting, and story. For the download, does it have pathfinder RPG stuff in it or is it just a compilation of the story as a PDF?

Silver Crusade

The download is exactly the same as the dead tree version :3

I'll give you a few answers and hope that I am answering your question.

The download of Faithful Servants is simply an ePub of what is available for free in the Web Fiction.

The download of Death's Heretic includes a Pdf and ePub of the novel. There is no RPG gaming material included in the novel.

In general, there is not any PFRPG material included in ANY of the fiction. The notable exception to this is Pathfinder Comics, which has some gaming material in each issue.

Thanks for the heads up. I knew a few of the ePubs had a bit, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy this or not. Now to get the novel.

Silver Crusade

So now that we had a few more people show up is The Redemption Engine (and Boar and Rabbit) what everyone would like to cover next?

that was my vote!

Sczarni Order of the Amber Die

All right everyone, looks like we're good to go for The Redemption Engine. Let' s read Chapters One through Eight for discussion starting next Saturday (Feb 7th) at 2 p.m. All are free to join at any time, as always. Looking forward to hearing from everyone next week!

Silver Crusade

Wait! We have to start with Boar and Rabbit, the web fiction ties into The Redemption Engine just like Faithful Servants did for Death's Heretic.

Sczarni

I think it should also have its own thread

Silver Crusade

True.

Sczarni Order of the Amber Die

Indeed - we'll start with Boar and Rabbit then. Also, I'll start the post on Saturday with a link to a new thread the same way as Death's Heretic. Here we go...

Managing Editor

(Interesting... I wrote "Boar and Rabbit" expecting people to read it *after* The Redemption Engine. I'll be curious to see how reading it first affects people's impressions of both stories!)

(Prepares to take notes...)

I know that you want to keep the voting organic for what we read next, but I think that we need to make another thread for deciding order - that way, if someone were going to star with the next book, they could order it when it is announced, and have it in before the first part of the discussion starts, so they won't be playing catch up the entire time.

Also a good point, just to throw something together real quick:

1 - The Crusader's Road
2 - Death's Heretic
3 - The Redemption Engine
4 - Winter Witch
5 - Prince of Wolves
6 - Skinwalkers
7 - Master of Devils
Etc...

Thoughts?

looks good to me!

I agree that offering lists of preferences and voting based on those will help everyone get their hands on the materials before readings begin. I'll put something together once The Redemption Engine gets underway and run it by all of you so that we'll all have ample time to make that happen, perhaps with a new thread, as suggested.

But for now let's begin with our new thread for The Redemption Engine, starting with the Boar and Rabbit ePub. (Thanks again to James Sutter for all your work, and your participation with us!)

Thank YOU folks! Watching this has been a treat. :D

I *knew* it was worth paying the printer to put glue on the covers! (Sorry, I'm in a dad-joke sort of mood today.)

Really glad you're liking the book! :D

Sovereign Court

1 person marked this as a favorite.

It's the first book since part 1 of Game of Thrones that results in such hand stickiness (sorry, but I had to go there...)

:P

Reading Redemption Engine now. Awesome as well. Hope you'll write more Pathfinder books in the future. Salim or not, I really like your grasp of Golarion. It really helps set the tone for the locale the heroes visit. I find myself devouring these books as much to learn about how the streets feel like as to see how the plot will unfurl. Well done! I've PMed a question about Salim.
