The Amazing Spider-Man (Now For Pathfinder)!

Conversions

3 people marked this as a favorite.

Because I love superheroes almost as much as love gaming, and because I find the challenge of character conversion entertaining, I thought I would put together a build for everyone's favorite wall crawler. It's up for this week's Crunch feature on Improved Initiative, so check it out and see if you'd like to put it to use in any of your own campaigns.

The Amazing Spider-Man!

Silver Crusade

Yeah...seems you haven't met the Crane Wing errata...sorry about that...

Jolly, I have not. Direct me to it please? I get my information out of the books I have access to, and I like to correct my content when possible.

Silver Crusade

You must have been gone for a while, this has been a huge issue for some time.

New Crane Wing

Benefit: Once per round, when fighting defensively with at least one hand free, you can designate one melee attack being made against you before the roll is made. You receive a +4 dodge bonus to AC against that attack. If you using the total defense action instead, you can deflect one melee attack that would normally hit you. An attack so deflected deals no damage and has no other effect (instead treat it as a miss). You do not expend an action when using this feat, but you must be aware of the attack and not flat-footed.

So yeah, you only get to deflect on a total defensive action, so you can't do anything else that round...hurray!

Jolly,

It's not that I've been gone, but that very rarely do the groups I'm a part of pay attention to errata. I don't play Society very often (bad experience with groups in my neck of the woods) so what's in the book tends to be what I go with.

Anyhoo, thanks for the knowledge and the build has been updated!

I meant gone from the boards. "Crane Wing'd" has become a slang term for nerfed around these boards.

Honestly I looked over the build and I'm not how Spidey it feels, but that's just because a lot of his powers don't really work in PF. It feels more ' Like we'd need a limited flight/glide to work for web swinging, webbing up opponents is a big thing that isn't really covered (tanglefoot bag works, I guess), and we could easily have more of a Spider Sense in initiative bonuses to let you act before hand. I'd say a one level dip in Divination Wizard would be enough for that, but a bit of a sacrifice to power in the name of concept.

Combat Expertise on a Monk is also a hard sell, since Monks already have a hell of a time hitting.

Hitting the key points of the build is rather difficult with anyone in PF (Illusion of Calm could help with moving around the battle field without drawing AOOs, but even that's giving up offensive presence to not really do anything. I feel like you'd need some home brew to really do this, but there's a lot of things it's hard for PF to replicate as your friendly neighborhood web slinger.

Liberty's Edge

I didn't know about Crane Wing. Cannot unsee that errata.

Can someone cast Modify Memory on me? I'll willingly fail my save.

Jolly,

It's a little embarrassing to say, but I don't think I've ever really been on the boards in the first place. I come here very rarely when I'm trying to put together a build and I can't come up with a good solution on my own (had a lovely response for an article about initiative and another on armor class), but generally speaking I'm not about. Not trying to take pride in my ignorance, just saying that I have no knowledge of what goes on here so if you see me about it's likely that I'll need direction from time to time.
