summoned creatures and item slots...

Rules Questions

Does a summoned creature such as a summoner's eidolon have available item slots like a player? Could I for example give one a belt of giants strength to wear to boost stats?

Depending on the form yes. But any slot that's occupied on an eidolon will make that slot unusable on the summoner. So if you give a belt to your eidolon, you can't use a belt on your summoner, even if it's a different belt. Same deal with rings and all that. This presumes of course that your eidolon has the appropriate body parts.

Really? Where does it say that?

Link (Ex)

A summoner and his eidolon share a mental link allows for communication across any distance (as long as they are on the same plane). This communication is a free action, allowing the summoner to give orders to his eidolon at any time. In addition, magic items interfere with the summoner’s connection to his eidolon. As a result, the summoner and his eidolon share magic item slots. For example, if the summoner is wearing a ring, his eidolon can wear no more than one ring. In case of a conf lict, the items worn by the summoner remain active, and those used by the eidolon become dormant. The eidolon must possess the appropriate appendages to utilize a magic item.

edit: If you could see me i would look like a ninja. *you hear the sounds of sunglasses being put on*

Go to the section in the summoner class marked Eidolon and you'll find this.

I feel silly.

The Exchange

don't feel silly, Summoner is a complicated class with lots of little bits of information. besides they reused the ability name even though it has this big difference (or was there a druid nerf?).

I had seen this come up before so I knew it had to be somewhere.

Yeah I totally glossed over thinking of the druid stuff.

If you're running a game with a Summoner, or playing one, You've GOT to read ALL of the text several times, top and bottom. The class is essentially a mini-book in itself with all of the exotic mechanics and rules exceptions built into it.

And that's not even counting the archetype material.

We were just having a random discussion about summoners. Believe me before I actually make a class I make sure to become a subject matter expert.

i KNEW this existed somewhere, i just couldnt find it on my phone app and had no clue which book summoner was in so was losing the argument while speaking. thanks for the answer guys. Shimesen +1/Chaotic Fighter 0 (this fight at least....)

How am I zero? I said they could wear items. They can. You said they didn't have item slots. They do.

Also the rest of the arguments. Chaotic Fighter 1473/Shimesen 3. He's actually getting better.

Someone's upset.
