Where is the schedule?

PaizoCon General Discussion

I'm new to Paizocon. Just bought tickets for my daughter and I.

Now, how do I sign up for games/sessions?

Lantern Lodge Customer Service Dire Care Bear Manager

We are still in the process of creating a schedule. When it is ready to go we will send everyone with a ticket and email to let you know that events are ready to check out. There will be a lottery process for some high profile events (stuff like a game with Erik Mona) and when that is over there will be a general event sign up. We use the email address associated with your account.

thanks

OK thanks. What I am hoping is to find a 3 day campaign, starting at lvl 1, so my daughter and I can play a continuous story each day. Similar to GenCon. Are there lots of events like that?

Most likely all (or almost all) Season 5 scenarios will be available in a variety of time slots. If you didn't want to do anything but play scenarios, you could play two 1-5's Friday Morning and Afternoon, then play the Special Friday Night, then three more 1-5's on Sat Morning, Afternoon, and Sunday Morning (The banquet is Saturday Night), ending at Level 3. For instance:

Slot 1, Fri Morning: #5-8 The Confirmation (Tier 1-2)
Slot 2, Fri Afternoon: #5-4 The Stolen Heir
Slot 3, Fri Night: Friday Night Special
Slot 4, Sat Morning: #5-1 Glass River Rescue
Slot 5, Sat Afternoon: #5-11 Library of the Lion
Slot 6, Sun Morning: #5–12: Destiny of the Sands—Part 1: A Bitter Bargain

5-4, 5-11, and 5-12 are role-play heavy scenarios, so you may wish to adjust based on what you think your daughter will enjoy most. Age-appropriateness is easily handled at the table, but if you're concerned 5-12 is the only one that might stretch things if your daughter is younger. Also, it's the first part of a three-parter that you would not be able to finish at PaizoCon (part 3 is Tier 3-7, instead of 1-5), unless you came in with 1 XP already.

Thanks Majuba. Silly question, but I am new to Pathfinder.

Slot 1: 5-8 The Confirmation (Tier 1-2)

means

The first time slot on Friday, levels 5-8, scenario name, Tier 1-2.

I think I have that right but don't know what Tier 1-2 means.

Also, my daughter and I enjoying more role-playing vs hack-n-slash. Is that what you mean by 5+ are role-play heavy?

Thanks!

Ah! No, the 5-XX is the scenario # (for Season 5). Easy confusion, since 5-9 could mean Season 5, Scenario #9, or Tier 5-9. For instance, Here is #5-8. Tier is the level range.

You understood me correctly about role-playing > hack-n-slash, but I was referencing specific scenarios (Seasons 5, #'s 4, 11, and 12).

Edited the last post a bit for clarity.

Great, thanks for the clarification and details!

Do we know or have any form of hint on what kind of special is going on for Friday Night? I.E. is it going to be like last year - only another sneak peek for what is being released for GenCon 2014? Is it going to be a whatever a Convocation is? Or something completely different? I'm sure whatever it will be, will be awesome.

It will be similar to last year.

I just approved all of the staff RPG games today, and they are on the way down the system. It'll be a while yet before we go public with them, but I can say I think I'd be more than happy to play in any of them.

They all sound fantastic!

It could be a Grand Melee year actually.

Grand Convocation is every three years, so next year (*fingers crossed*).

Majuba and Zantumal,

Spoiler:
Considering I am running the season five special for tier 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8 this year at Paizocon, and at Gencon, I am confident it will be similar to last year. Mike has not mentioned any thing about a grand melee, nor a grand convocation.

Leg o' Lamb,

Could be considered a Spoiler:
Last year July was the Season 5 Special which was in actuality the sneak preview to GenCon's official start of Season 5. So, shouldn't this be called (what you have advanced knowledge of) a Season 6 Special and again a sneak preview of the Season 6 Special for GenCon - or its not being called the Season 6 Special because it is a continuation wrap-up of the current year's Season 5.

In essence doesn't the new season start with GenCon and what gets played at PaizoCon is a dry test run advanced playing - which also makes me go off on another tangent that perhaps we aren't going to switch to a new season this year and keep with the current demon invasion Season 5 flavor for a while longer.

AND if anything that I've said is accurate, are you saying by not saying anything at all, that the event being played when the special is normally held this year at PaizoCon 2014 will be the Season 5 Special (which I already played last year with some tweaks) - or a more accurately titled Season 6 Special which will have the same kind of atmosphere/mechanics such that the differing tiers actions dynamically affect each other live and a cool giant map up on the projector screens but with a different story and goals.

Sorry, its (at the time of this post) 110 days out until I'm on a plane. I need tidbits and such to keep me going and looking forward to when I wake up everyday and realize its another day I have to go to work. Don't get me wrong, I love my job but... jeez do I ever look forward to this once a year vacation.

Thanks Leg o' Lamb! I guess I was half-hoping - I have a character who was level 1 for the first grand melee (at the first grand convocation), level 9 at the last one three years ago, and would be just level 11 for this one.

Zantumal, pretty sure that was a typo for 6. You're right to be excited - PaizoCon is the best time of the year!

FYI: A Grand Melee has been two things:

  • An actual PvP tournament to the death (no penalties)
  • A series of timed and tough arena fights, with points on the line for the championship.

Spoiler:
What is being run at Paizo Con is the end of season 5 special. It will not be a rehash of Siege of the Diamond City. There is a season 6 special at Gencon but it is tier 3-7. Mike's blog post asking for gencon volunteers laid all of this out.
