The Empyrean Order

Name: The Empyrean Order
Alignment: Neutral Good
Preferred Alignments: LG/NG/CG
Purpose: Community betterment, protection of the weak, and promotion of justice.
Player Roles Accepted: All
Website: covenantofthepheonix.com

History: The Empyrean Order is a group established for the purpose of championing the ideals of positive gameplay in Pathfinder Online. Our early involvement in the community and strong mission statement garnered a wealth of support which has solidified our dedication to the purpose. Because of our identification with this purpose, we have officially become the Pathfinder Online branch of the Covenant of the Pheonix Gaming Community. Joining us will extend to joining them, allowing you to benefit from the opportunities they offer to enjoy other games together during the long wait for Pathfinder Online. Individual chapters still receive a fair amount of autonomy meaning that our leadership and structure which revolves around Pathfinder Online is dedicated to the title.

Ideology: The Empyrean Order believes that just because you can do something in a game, that doesn't necessarily mean you should. To that end, we want Pathfinder Online to have a community where -- even though Open World PVP is enabled -- random Player Killers are a fringe element rather than mainstream, and griefers are nearly non-existent. We also believe in helping new players, reaching out to the rest of the community, and generally making Pathfinder Online a better world for people to enjoy together.

Who Should Join TEO?: Everyone who agrees with the above ideology and wants to be a part of an organization that puts it into action. Beyond our military and militia, we have five guilds: one focused on combat training and creating combat events, one focused on helping people and community outreach, one focused on scouting and exploration, one focused on crafting and trade, and one focused on knowledge and study.

We cater to every play-style; from people wanting to be part of an elite military to pacifists; from people looking for a heavy role-play experience to those who'd prefer to avoid it; from Americans and Europeans to Australians and more.

Our Rules:
1. No killing without just cause. One of the main ways we distinguish ourselves is by only killing when we have good reason to do so. More details on what constitutes good reason will be given as we get more details on the game, but for the most part this constitutes enemies of The Empyrean Order and those who are a threat to the general public.
2. Do not make agreements you do not intend to keep. Nobody in The Empyrean order will demand you make promises or enter into contracts, but if you do, then you should honor your word.
3. Respect other members of our order, and try to respect those outside of it as well. I know this rule is very difficult and can rarely be followed perfectly, but know where to draw the line, especially in a public setting. This one will be enforced the hardest on inter-guild drama, any rivalry between members should be friendly. This does not always mean that all members are expected to think alike or see eye-to-eye all of the time or even most of the time. It does mean that these disagreements are expected to remain civil even if you have to agree to disagree.

Joining The Empyrean Order:
1. Register on the CotP boards.
2. Apply for CotP membership.
3. Introduce yourself in the Pathfinder Online section.
4. Join into our ongoing discussions on our policies in the upcoming PFO title, and check out the other titles our community have to offer.

Mumble Usage: CotP has a dedicated 24/7 Mumble server. Mumble usage is a requirement for all TEO members, but a microphone is not required unless you are part of the military. This is because Mumble is where most of our conversations happen, and if you aren't in there, you really will not get integrated into the community as much as we would like. Mumble does offer text chat options and if everyone in-game is using the Mumble then you can likely reply to comments on the Mumble via our in-game chat as well.

The Mumble setup guide for our server can be found here.

@Shane it is clearly TEO's impressively progressive new diversity/EEO* initiative manifesting in real-time.

I'm now picturing an army of liches in white robes handing starter gear and friendly advice to newbs and enforcing the peace.

    Goblin Squad Member

With their risen Doves heralding the oncoming age of peace between the living and the dead.

I really like the revamped charter that TEO has decided to go with. If I was not already a solid member of T7V, I could see myself becoming a Green Cloak.

    Goblin Squad Member

We've had the 5 guilds for awhile but I don't think they were as well advertised in the old topic. Green cloaks have proven a very popular sub-build. Much more than I was expecting.

I have no problems with the notion that a Lich may be redeemed (or Baelnorn's that don't need redeeming) and use their vast power and longevity for the forces of Good.

Also a welcome to Kabal who has signed up as well.

thank you, happy to be here. Ill have a character on circle too, hope that is not a problem. both companies share many goals, imo would be a good idea to merge maybe.

I personally have no issues with having a separate character in Keepers of the Circle, at this time. I admire their dedication to a non-aggression principle and do not foresee conflicts between the groups.

Forbidding multiple characters going to different guilds seems it will just cause them to do so in private rather than to make the fact known. Having the knowledge available will allow us to discuss and work through any potential conflicts of interest together.

If you are a member here, please pop in to the CotP forum and check out our members area. Also, if you haven't been by the CotP boards in a while, there is a big meeting (CotP as whole, not PFO specific) in about an hour and 20 minutes. Sorry for the short notice here.

    Goblin Squad Member

Unfortunately I cannot attend the meeting since my wife and I are going out to an Opera concert tonight. I'm excited.

    Goblin Squad Member

No need to excuse. It was merely a service announcement for those who wish to and are able to attend.

A quote from my pen and paper group, presented without context (I couldn't find a better place to share this and it had me cracking up):

It would appear that I am the copycat. It looks like Darius has been a Paizo poster since 2004.

I shall not, however, surrender my "Dude Surfer" avatar easily! ;)

I see no mention of guardians or protectors that pursue the arcane arts, does the Argent Guard include non-martial characters or are you only allowing those pursuing the martial arts to join that sub-group? It seems like the Blue Stars are going to be more of a metagame information element.

The guilds are not restricted by or intended to be segregated by class. If you are a combat focused sorcerer or wizard then the Silver Blades are likely more to your suiting than the Blue Stars.

If you are a scholarly / knowledge focused fighter or paladin then the Blue Stars may be more to your suiting than the Silver Blades.

I myself have declared my guild (Silver Blades) but am conflicted about my choice in class. And probably will remain so until I've had a chance to test them all out in the Pit Fighter.

    Goblin Squad Member

    Very much as Andius states.

Think first of what you wish to do, and that helps determine which sub-guild you may seek to choose as a primary. Though it is entirely possible to defer that choice for now. The HOW you do it is a separate element. Some "class concepts" certainly fit certain areas better, but they are not restricted as such.

Please note we have guild oriented discussion going on in the CotP boards in our member's section. I would love to hear feedback from any of our members who have not been checking in there.

    Thanks!

I think you guys misunderstood me. "Martial" typically implies physical combat rather than magic. I was simply commenting on the word choice. :)

I think TEO or T7V is where I'll end up. I actually filled out an app for T7V over a year ago but posted awhile back that I would rather see how the first bit of EE goes before committing. Both organizations seem to want to promote a playstyle very close to what mine typically is.

Hmm, I just looked it up and I may actually be wrong. It means "warlike" which really does fit well. I think I must have been going off of roleplaying jargon instead of actual real world semantics.

Yeah. In the real world, "martial" doesn't include magic because we don't have magic. ^_^

Makes sense. A combat oriented wizard is more "martial" than a crafting focused fighter.

the term martial derives originally from Mars Roman god of war
