[PFS] Eyes of the Ten?

PaizoCon General Discussion

Hey all -

In doing a search, I've seen some rumblings of an eyes of the ten, but nothing official. Is everyone waiting to see if there's one scheduled officially, or is someone running a table in open gaming? Perhaps a Saturday / Sunday split game (since the big special is Friday night and the banquet is Saturday night)?

Just trying to see how much interest there will be out there for it and what the logistics might look like. I've got a Dwarven battle Cleric that should be ready for it, and I'm potentially interested in playing. Thanks all!

I doubt there will be an official table of it at PaizoCon. It takes at least 5 slots to run and probably closer to 6.

It's possible you'll find enough other kindred souls looking for a game though, so good luck.

I'll keep watch of this thread. PaizoCon would be an excellent venue for Eyes of the Ten, assuming a solid GM and a good table.

-Matt

Wow! I knew it was long, I didn't realize it was 20-24 hours of play time. Well, I'm keeping my eyes peeled for it, what slots it's being played in (if at all), and decide then if I'm up for joining.

It is probably not going to be scheduled officially at PaizoCon, but will run at GenCon. I would run it, but have too many other slots to run already. (Although I do arrive early Thursday...)

Well, all we've got is from this other thread.

I am currently working on the schedule for Paizo Con and the schedule should be known in the same blog as my call for volunteers later this month. Since we will have a few more tables, I should be able to schedule Eyes of Ten. However, I do not think we will be scheduling sanctioned modules for PaizoCon.

So we'll see.

-Matt

Good catch Matt, perhaps there will be EoTT at PaizoCon...

Dark Archive

I'd be up for Eyes of the Ten; the GM I had here who was organizing some runs of it is moving out of the country and my work schedule makes it hard to get a game together right now (before I even try to run down a GM for it).

I don't see any tables of it in the events up yet, but here's hoping. It might be a good all day Sat & Sunday sort of thing, as someone mentioned above.

Having just played it this weekend, it's intense, exciting and exhausting -- tho that could have been the 3 hours of sleep the first night hehe..

So it looks like we've got three potential players so far for an Eyes of the Ten run. Does anybody know of a solid GM who would be up for this? As Scott/Lamplighter and Rob can confirm, I would be bringing a character who would make the run enjoyable, and I would do my best to help the GM have a good time.

-Matt

Baring the objection of anybody else who would rather do the work instead of me I'll try and organize a table, although It is unlikely I'll be able to participate.

This schedule is under the assumption that part 1 takes about 10 hours and that parts 2/3 run a little short and that part 4 takes about 6 hours.

Proposed EoTT for PaizoCon:

Saturday 8-7 (with breaks as desired): Eyes of the Ten (pt1)
Sunday: 9-1:30 Eyes of the Ten (pt2)
Sunday: 2-6:30 Eyes of the Ten (pt3)
Sunday: 7-1am Eyes of the Ten (pt4)

Sunday evening would have to be run in one of the conference rooms at the hotel but I imagine there will be little problem securing one of those.

Even if you've posted above with interest to play I would like a confirmation of interest with this schedule.

What I'm really looking for now though is volunteers to GM at least 1 session. There will be bribes/goodies available, their exact nature TBD.

Dark Archive

The Sunday segments would assume we'd find space once the formal convention closed down.

That said, my flight doesn't leave until Monday and this schedule lets me actually still play other characters/games besides the GenCon special.

I have a Summoner 12 and I would be down.

Going till 1AM Monday morning is a bit much. In my experience, if a set group just gets started and goes, a lot gets done rather quickly, especially when things like food breaks are done efficiently and the group doesn't have to get introduced to different people every few hours. I figure the Eyes group can just start Saturday morning and go, and we'll do fine.

-Matt

Rob: Thanks for your getting that started. My thoughts were to wait and see if we got any GM interest, but this might be better.

As far as the schedule, I might suggest moving some of that time to Friday, since the convention is over in the afternoon on Sunday, and many folks will have flights out pretty quickly (for example, mine leaves at 9 pm on Sunday).

Is anyone willing to forgo the banquet or even pick up after?

I will not be attending the banquet.

-Matt

An alternate schedule, assuming no banquet attendees within the group:

Friday 2:00 PM-6:00 PM (EotT Pt. I First Half)
Saturday 8:00 AM-Midnight (EotT Pt. I Second Half, Pt. II, & Pt. III)*
Sunday 9:00 AM-1:00 PM (EotT Pt. IV)

Friday is meant to be a bit of a dip, giving players a chance to do something else in the morning and the GenCon Special in the evening. Heavy lifting occurs on Saturday; this is a 16 hour block for what is in theory 12 hours of actual table time. Sunday is ideal for just Pt. IV; we're talking the finale. People need to be rested and we need to know we have some wiggle time at the back end to do it right. I don't want to have to call it early for time purposes.

I will say, while I know doing a Friday 8 AM-6 PM & Saturday 8 AM-??? would be easier time wise, I really want to get a chance to play Rivalry's End. I'm not going to get one before the August cutoff for Shadow Lodge perks, so I'm not willing to give over my entire PaizoCon to EotT.

I am attending the banquet, but am willing to renegotiate my schedule, or even attend after.

As of right now I've signed up for events assuming this won't happen with intent to vacate those seats if it does. Do we even have a full table/GM?

No one has messaged me, so I'm not sure. I've done the same as you.

It looks like we are up to a three man table. I may know a potential GM. Once a GM comes forward, the rest of the table is likely to fill out. However, I would be all for four-manning Eyes of the Ten, as it would take less time and likely be more enjoyable that way.

-Matt

Hey Mattastrophic! Were you able to get that GM? If so, we should find out what their availability is so we can schedule the game. Also, thanks for finding a GM!

Unfortunately, the effort hasn't really worked out. Unless another GM comes out of the woodwork, I don't see this table happening.

-Matt

Scratch that last post, I've got someone. Eyes of the Ten is ON at PaizoCon!

Let's plan to play starting Saturday morning, through the banquet slot, until we are done. It looks as if there are three players so far. What sorts of characters will you be bringing?

I will be bringing Lady Gabrielle d'Apcher, a skill-based, secondary-melee PC.

-Matt

Dark Archive

I'll come with a Summoner 12. The Summoner himself focuses on casting/battlefield control & buffs, whilst the Eidolon is a melee beast. Actual Summon Monster spells are used for utility. Keeps pretty tight to a Fiend/Devil theme.

Dark Archive

Also, until I see a fourth player/this is 100 percent certain, I'm going to go ahead and hold on to my Saturday/Sunday seats and just plan to meet up before the Saturday slot starts to see if this is going to happen or not.

If we get started on Saturday morning, what would the schedule look like? I only ask because my flight leaves at 9 pm on Sunday. Also, who is the GM? Do they post here on the forums?

Dark Archive

Well, if we did 8:30 AM-12:30 AM (16 Hours) Saturday we could probably finish Pt. I (8-9 Hours) and Pt. II (4-5 Hours) with meal breaks. Sunday could be 8:30 AM-6:30 PM for Pt. III (4-5 Hours) & Pt. IV (4-5 Hours) with room for breaks as well.

You should be fine if your flight leaves at 9PM. I think the GM's leaves earlier than that.

The schedule isn't really set, it's a play-till-we're-done thing. It's possible that we'll have to start on Friday afternoon, as well, to make sure the whole thing happens. Is that okay with you guys if needed? We'll definitely all be participating in the Friday night special, though.

Also, let's keep the table below six players. A Summoner counts for two of those slots. Then add myself, and I've heard confirmation from a local Rogue10/Barbarian2.

The GM is Ryan Blomquist, Venture-Captain of the Minnesota area.

So, for planning... what sort of PC are you bringing, Horseman?

-Matt

Sorry to eavesdrop on your conversation, but I couldn't help overhearing...

Ryan ran our group through EotT last summer; you'll have a blast!

Glad you were able to find somebody. Best of luck!

Thanks for all the info, folks.

Assuming I play, I'm ok with the schedule so long as I make my flight (which you've said the GM's leaves earlier), and can play in the Friday night special (which you've said we are).

The only issue is that between the time Matt said no go and BOOM! We got a GM! (to paraphrase), a buddy of mine offered to run for me and a group. He seemed excited at the prospect. I'll talk to him to see how attached he is to running, and if he's ok with not running for me, I'm in.

I'll be bringing a Dwarven, melee-focused cleric.

I see. Well, one thing we can do is use this to muster two potential tables from a larger pool.

I've also spoken with Todd Tepper, Venture-Lieutenant of Oregon, and he would like to bring his Maneuver Master/Barbarian/Thug Rogue.

How many of us are here on Thursday night, actually?

We could start in then.

I'm sorry, I wasn't specific enough. My friend would be running it locally in my area. He will not be at PaizoCon.

My flight gets in early on Friday morning.

The Exchange

I get in on Thursday, and would like to join it (if there is a spot).
My first character: Cwenburgh, Elven Archer Ranger is ready to go through this series.

I am scheduled for the Banquet though and would prefer to start on Friday, though I do not fly out till Monday evening.

Hey everybody!

After speaking with our GM, who will be posting here when he gets a chance, I just wanted to ask all those interested in Eyes at PaizoCon to PM me with your email addresses for the more detailed coordination leading up to the con itself.

I'm getting pretty stoked about this.

Hey all!

So, I'm the lucky winner who gets to run this one. I want to post out my proposed schedule first:

Friday - 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Saturday - 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Sunday - 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

This schedule is going to be running tight, but if we're running at PaizoCon I want to run within the convention schedule and not deny anyone the opportunity to participate in the Special or the Banquet. I know those things are very important to a lot of the folks who come to PaizoCon; especially the banquet is, for some, the main draw.

To make that work, I'm going to need everyone to be Johnny on the spot. First, when I say Friday at 1:00 p.m, I mean I'm going to start reading the introduction at 1:00. To facilitate this, my email address (which I don't feel bad sharing, because its public) is twincitiesvc@gmail.com; if I could get each of the proposed players to email me, I'll compile a big email with some important questions that will take care of the pregame information, including tracking sheet info, some ability modifiers for the necessary evils of behind the screen dice, and some essential lead-in information that I would otherwise need to collect from you on site. Hopefully, this will facilitate faster play as I will have a better handle on who your PCs are and why they're here.

Hopefully with a little bit of preparation and some tight play we can all have a blast and get this one wrapped up before my flight leaves Sunday afternoon. I think its going to be a lot of fun, and I look forward to meeting you all in person. If any of you are going to the meet and eat, I'll be the short guy in the flip flops.

I haven't figured out exactly how many people have already signed up, but if there's still room for this I'd love to jump in. I have a level 12 conjuration specialist wizard. I'm sending the email right now.

Good luck with that first adventure, folks.

I hear it is absolutely BRUTAL.

The first encounter in part 1 is my favorite encounter in all of PFS.

It also has the best faction mission ever.

Thanks, guys! The module got next to zero feedback for like the first two years it was out, and my inner narcissist almost committed suicide over it. :)

That's likely because PFS has placed restrictions on actually playing Eyes of the Ten, such that it's really tough to actually play Requiem of the Red Raven. I am told, though, that Requiem is head and shoulders above anything else Pathfinder Society has ever produced, which is why I've been busting my butt to make a table happen before it is retired.

I'm even looking at doing an incharacter journal for PaizoCon 2013, which would of course include my PC's journey through Requiem and the rest of Eyes. We'll see how it pans out.

Requiem for the Red Raven is epic. My players said that it was so awesome, it was like playing a home game (extremely high praise). And it only took over a year of careful manipulation (and leaving behind one player who missed sessions) to get everyone at just the right level to play it. It's so sad this is getting retired.

If you folks want to have this entered under the PaizoCon event code, just stop by PFS HQ and pick up a tracking sheet, and we will make sure the info gets entered for you.

Just want to say thanks to Ryan and the sharp party of adventurers who made this run an epic smash!

This entire thing was a blast. Thank you to Ryan for the weekend long marathon GMing (and the rather impressive instances in which you effectively had a conversation with yourself as several NPCs!)

Thank you to Fourth Horseman, Mattastrophic, and (third board name unknown; Killian the Half-Orc) for an awesome experience.
