EE for Tech Demo Founders+?

Hello!

Of those who supported the tech demo at the founder+ level, there was at least 1 person who complained that they were unable to afford EE on the second kickstarter. Are those people getting comped Early Enrollment? It seems really unappreciative not to, especially considering it is a subset of the mere 171 people who contributed $250 or more (I'd argue that every one of those should get an extra EE pass).

I asked something like this in a less noticable way (thread response rather than new thread) right around the time it happened, didn't get a satisfactory response, and a couple days later I did what most people do on the internet when they don't like something: Get mad and storm off muttering obscenities under their breath and look for something better. Well, I didn't find anything better, and I still really want to know what the deal is here.

At this time, we have not decided how we'll allocate Early Enrollment beyond those who gained access from participating in the 2nd Kickstarter.

Thank you very much for the response, I appreciate it. IMO how this is handled will be a strong indicator of the company's overall attitude toward its supporters/players. I do hope that we'll be updated once a decision is made.

For what it's worth, I know at least two people who would gladly pay to get into EE. I tried talking them into backing the KS. From looking at the number of newcomers that have joined the forums post KS I think there are quite a few that a wishing to pay for EE access.

It seems fair to me to find a way to let tech demo founders into EE and even other post KS2 early supporters. The main thing I'd watch for is the order of access.

*Actual Crowdforgers
*KS1 and KS2 supporters that buy into crowdforging levels after the fact
*Post-KS1 and KS2 supporters that buy into crowdforging level.

And with that announcement I think it would be necessary to set a hard date (the "end" of early supporter times) of when you can no longer gain EE access; the end of this spring perhaps?

Founders are also part of the goblin squad, they will be notified before the general public when EE access is sold.

People were told time and time again that participation in the first kickstarter would not give you a copy of the game, or EE access, unless you pledged at the alpha level. If you thought you would get more, you were not paying attention. If you pledged at the founder level in the first kickstarter, and couldn't afford the $100 for Crowdforger Pioneer in the second kickstarter 6 months later, you probably shouldn't have blown $250 just to get a forum icon and a coin.

I would not expect there to be an 'end' of early support chances. When GW starts selling EE spots, I imagine it will be first come, first serve, and not stop until they sell every slot. I would imagine a majority of the prospective players want to see how the game plays out, and plan to join midway into EE. This will be one of the longest "beta" phases, just behind Minecraft.

I'm not opposed to founders getting first shot whenever EE access opens up, but they shouldn't be given anything freely.

I'm not quite following what the OP is trying to say. Is it that people on the first KS don't get EE?

I am in at $400 and debating over adding more, but the idea of a bunch of PDFs, naming my own drink and paid EE is making me wonder if I might be better off restructuring my 400 investment.

I asked whether GW would provide EE to those who contributed at the $250 level or higher on the first kickstarter but were unable to contribute to the second. I asked about this because I didn't think it had been addressed directly. It is of my opinion that to not do so shows a lack of appreciation for those who supported the project in its early stages when it needed it most. Valkenr clearly disagrees with my perspective. So far the answer was "it has not been decided" with no indication given that it will be provided.

I did not contribute at that level and the determination of this does not directly affect me or anyone I know.

Didn't Lisa Stevens say that we can change (not lower) and add onto our KS when the surveys are finally released? I'm almost certain she did.

I also recall that it is at the $300 level that included the EE, that is the level I started with. I have gone back and forth whether to add to my current pledge or restructure it. I'm at 400 now and could go as high as 650, or I could give up the EE and add 100, leave it at 500 and sell off 5 entries as part of guild starter package.

The $500 level from the second kickstarter gets you into the first or second month of EE... From what I saw on the number of pledges and what was said on the fund list. Its pretty straight forward on that.

Says the first 200 guilds get into month one of EE, there are only 188 pledges at the $500 level. 200 per month after that.

Anyone at the $400 level get month one access to EE.

$300 backers get month one access

$175 Buddy backers, the first 500 pairs get into month one of EE, after that 500 per month

$100 Pioneers, the frist 2000 get into month one of EE, and 1000 per month after

and so on

Edit: it also says all Crowdforge levels pledged before the $1million mark will be in the first month.

No news here ? I don't really bother with EE, I'll play enventually, but not getting a Destiny twin while I participated at 500 bucks when the game was just a project is a little hard.

There are people here who undoubtedly have bought the following add on in the pledgetool (not the same as Goblinworks Store):

Quote:

$35

Adventurer Reward Tier

You have selected this add-on x times.

You can purchase additional Adventurer Reward Tier packages as Add-Ons. Each package of the Adventurer Reward Tier provides one Pathfinder Online account with all the bonuses and rewards described in the Adventurer Reward Tier. This is the perfect way to give a friend the gift of a Pathfinder Online subscription, along with all the special promotional bonuses and benefits of the Adventurer Reward Tier! Pathfinder Online accounts created with Adventurer Reward Tier add-ons will be invited to play during the last period of Early Enrollment, and will be eligible for Daily Deal items as of the date you increased your pledge by one or more $35 increments, not the date of your first eligibility.

This add on, when gifted to you by a friend, will add all bonus perks from the Original Adventure level pledge tier from the second KS to your account (TBD how the actual gifting will work, a code perhaps?).

So, make friends! :) Or keep an eye out on Ebay.

This is what the Original Adventure pledge will give you:

Quote:

$35

Adventurer

Patrons at this level will receive a digital downloadable copy of the Pathfinder Online game, an invitation to play during our Head Start period, a two-month game subscription, and a New Player Pack of consumable in-game items. In addition, you will become a member of the Goblin Squad. Goblin Squad members will be identified with a special icon on the Goblinworks messageboards (currently hosted on paizo.com). Members of the Goblin Squad will receive alerts letting them know about new information first, such as special announcements, new blog posts, or new concept art.

Adventurer Reward Bonus - Character Name Reservation

Reserve the name of your first Pathfinder Online character! At the end of this fulfillment process we’ll ask for your first, second, and third choices for your character name. (If all three of your choices are taken by earlier backers, we'll contact you to arrange for more options.) We reserve the right to limit the use of certain names for legal, marketing, and community management reasons.

Adventurer Reward Bonus - The Pathfinder Tabletop RPG Experience

You'll receive a PDF of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook, the Guide to the River Kingdoms sourcebook, and the Emerald Spire super-adventure.

Adventurer Reward Bonus - Destiny's Twin

As a special feature of Adventurer accounts, you'll be able to have two characters training skills at the same time! As long as your primary character is earning skill points, so will your alternate character. (You will not be able to log in and play both of these characters at the same time.)

Adventurer Level Reward Bonus - Head Start

You will be invited to participate in the last period of Early Enrollment for Pathfinder Online, providing your character with a head start in your Pathfinder Online career.

Adventurer and Crowdforger Reward Bonus - Invite a Friend: Shieldmate

Invite a friend with another Pathfinder Online account to be your shieldmate. Once the invitation is accepted, both accounts unlock a special bonus: All characters on both accounts gain the Shieldmate Mark. Any time two or more characters with the Shieldmate Mark are in a group, all characters with the Shieldmate Mark in that group gain a combat bonus. You can only offer or accept one shieldmate invitation.

In addition, if you participated in the Pathfinder Online Kickstarter, we’ll determine which Daily Deal in-game items are unlocked for both accounts based on the earliest pledge date of you or your shieldmate.

(If you pledge for the Buddy or Guild reward levels, you’ll allocate the bonus accounts in a different step of the fulfillment process. Buddy and Guild accounts are not automatically shieldmates, and you can choose to friend other players instead of Buddy or Guild accounts in your reward.)

I don't know what to say.

Hey, did not want to make you feel bad. I have participated at quit a few Kickstarters in the last two years, and there is a lot of regret and unhappiness about missed chances, deadlines, "only heard about this today" going around with this. Even when Portalarium (Richard Garriot making Shroud of the Avatar) implemented a new grace-period where Original founders could make new founders by gifting them a pledge, it will not be enough. Grace period now over (lasted a whole year, made some Original founders unhappy too) and as we speak, more unhappy people are entering the forums there because they just missed this grace period.

Anyway, it is all about luring people to your KS, making the KS succeed and keeping your promises.

Let me tell you that I think that GW should give *anyone* that pledged 35 dollars or more at the Original KS(first one), the Destinies Twin perk. I have no problems at all if a company tweaks their promises here and there, and your case certainly applies.

Goblin Squad Member

We will have to see what happens if GW has a tougher than expected time of filling EE to their schedule. I certainly wouldn't have a complaint if some of the KS 1 supporters got into EE as early as possible.

Especially when you consider that there will be drop outs, no shows, people with multiple spots that only play 1 at a time, etc...

Shadow Lodge Goblin Squad Member

I don't keep a great eye on the Pathfinder Online forums (to my detriment, I did pledge) - is there a timeline on a possible release date? For EE and actual release?

Sidenote: this wiki entry says development has "only just begun", though the whole entry is from 2011.

Goblin Squad Member

@Avatar EE is planned to start Q3 of this year, making release somewhere between 1-2 years after that.

Most games end up taking 3-6 months longer than their target release dates, but GW seems to be determined, albeit EE is a very simple game so I wouldn't be surprised to see them hit the mark.
