Are we going to see the aforementioned races in miniature form? Honestly I have scoured the internet and have found ibis people, Eagle bird folk, even skeksis but no crow people.

The Kenku are great as a sub, but the lack the distinct oriental feel for the upcoming Dragon Empire rage that inevitably will hit the Pathfinder games around the world.

Liberty's Edge

I was going to recommend the D&D kenku minis for tengu, but it sounds as if you’ve already considered this.

There is a kitsune miniature produced for the Bushido war game by GCT Studios. There’s also one for the Dreamblade game by WotC.

Unfortantly with those two kitsune.. they are females. :(

AT least they are wearing cloths, unlike most other animialist minitures i've seen.

When did these become PC races?

You could see if you could find some of the old ironclaw miniatures.

Shadow Lodge

Dragon Empire Gazetteer makes reference to them. Also the Dragon Empire's Primer which comes out in hard copy today.

Considering that most traditional stories of kitsune have them assuming female form, that’s not surprising.

Dragon empire gazateer.

Doesn't matter really. Generally anything that is anthropomorphic animal is either female or tribal. And if they are female, they are reaaally female. And possibly naked.

Liberty's Edge

I picked up a couple of catfolk miniatures years ago, male and female, both fairly sensibly clad in typical ‘adventurer’ type gear, but I concede that what you refer to does seem to be something of a trend, yes. And one of the kitsune miniatures I referred to above, while clothed, is very close to spilling out of her kimono.

...I was after the Tengu on this thread, no idea how this became about Kitsune. did we give up :P lol.

Oh and also

We've not yet announced any Dragon Empires minis... but I suspect someday we'll do some.

You did write the thread title, right?

Dark Sword also has a nice Tengu. there is a thread in the Gaming Miniatures section of the boards specifically on Tengu miniature suggestions.

Shadow Lodge

I more meant from my first post's query. But yes I did write the title in respect to all the races ^_^.

Really? Because I could not for the life of my find a wolf-ish female of any sort when I was playing 4E.

You couldn't have looked too hard for a female werewolf, reaper has at least six. Horrorclix has one. Those are just the ones I've stumbled across, I'm sure there are more.

That was the race that was generally tribal. Often also large size.

But here is females.. One that I'd consider actually playable as a mini, if I ever did a female character.

Apparently I'm not the only one trying to find miniatures for my Tengu and Kitsune characters. I'va had mixed luck with both unfortunately. I found a Kenku that worked well enough to be a Tengu, but it is a cheap plastic one unfortunately. The Kitsunes have been even harder. The closest thing I've found for my Kitsune ninja (male) is a werefox that is wayyy too female.

I hope that paizo will be releasing some of their own minis for the new races soon... for both genders XD

For my Tengu I used a WarHammer Skaven Plague monk and crafted a head out of green stuff. It came out pretty well link.

I had trouble finding tengu minis also, though I've seen someone use other bird races as stand ins that work fairly well, but maybe not as PCs.

Liberty's Edge

I need some myself. I have players playing non-human characters as most of them selected the ones that looked more like animals this time around. The look on their faces when I said I had almost no minis that looked like them was slightly amusing, but I was distressed by how disappointed they were that the minis could not accurately portray race this time.

I'm trying to find anything to make this work out better for next time it happens.

Are there any specific ones that you are looking for?

There seems to be a few options that can be used for female kitsunes out there, but males seem to be completely out of luck. Don't know about the other races though.

Around 20-25 years ago I picked up a miniature I'll probably end up using for a Kitsune, but I have no idea where you'd look for one today.

I've also got another figure that's almost identical in pose, garb, etc., but in fully-human form. That one's not painted yet.

Liberty's Edge

I have Tengu male, Kitsune male and catfolk of both genders in the game. With some work I can find catfolk, but so far I have only found one female with a bow. The males I found are burly and tall which doesn't work for the male catfolk. He chose a cheetah look to his character.

The last Kitsune I used a Rageclaw warrior from Reaper as he aimed for large and in charge type of character. He even went for the tallest he could on a Kitsune and added on lots of muscle for his look.

The current Kitsune is slender in build and a rogue. The tengu is the other problem. I have only found a prepainted Kenku and am looking for one at my gamestore.

For male catfolk, you might consider some of the Rakshasa D&D minis.

Liberty's Edge

Might work. I don't recall what they look like, but I will have to look them up and see if the player is willing to use it, but I doubt he will throw a fit given he is fairly relaxed about his minis usually. He was just excited about playing a cat and wanted his mini to reflect it

Ok, for any type of catfolk try Black Orc.

If you are looking for help finding figures, try down in the Gaming/Miniatures threads. A lot of serious mini gamers hang out down there.

I'd really like to see a vanara mini as well. If you can find any of them, Ral Partha made some tengu miniatures for their Bushido line, but these were the variety with wings as well as arms.

Wow, people have been looking for these miniatures for a year now and still there has been next to nothing. You'd think some mini-maker would have taken advantage of the market for these things by now.

I actually ended up resorting to making my own kitsune mini.

See also this thread for Kitsune mini options. If I was better at figure surgury, I'd use the seperate heads pack referenced in that thread and the tail from another to make one.

And most of yet another year has gone by with no minis for these races...

There is a kickstarter right now for stonehaven miniatures about elven adventurers that has a female kitsune right now with make one coming soon. They should fill in until paizo makes us some hopefully soon.

They just got my money for being like, the first people ever to plan to make a male kitsune mini.

I would look at some of the old horrorclix mini's. I've gotten a bunch of nice looking catfolkesque (panther-like) figures. I 've also used the kitsune from the dreamblade mini although its a little bit bigger than most mini's.

For Nagaji I have used the Heroclix minis. Their name escapes me now since I pulled them off their original bases. Some of these mini's I've gotten for less than $.25 cents at largers cons. I would seriously look at those before you spend your money.

Kenku for tengu was a choice for me from the very last set of DD mini's that came out.

Samsaran I dont think would be too difficult as they dont look all that different from humans. but wayang is a different story. I'll have to look at my pile of minis to find something that could possibly fit.

Not a bad tengu, but I really like the old (REALLY old) Ral Partha figs that I have. They have wings.
