Grizzly the Archer wrote:I don't think the mini guide to paragon surge should truly be here. It was a thinly veiled attempt at nerfing the spell, through a guide like style. The guide might have some purpose, but based alone the honesty of it, I wouldn't include it with other guides that were honest in their principles. That guide was made Sep 2012. The author's post indicating a desire for a nerf was made Tuesday, over a year and a half later, after extensive use of it. An opinion can change in that amount of time.
As it still functions as a mini-guide, I think it should be considered.

Just noticed that it was necro'd from way back then. In that case, yes, opinions change all the time, especially with such a long difference in time. My previous statement retracted.
Still I don't think it should be nerfed.

How come N. Jolly's guides haven't been added to the index in the front? They are comprehensive and well done, should be a great addition.
so i'm gonna be nice and blow your mind gently...the first post (index) of this thread hasn't been updated in a long time cuz posts eventually are uneditable...
click Broken Zenith's link to the Comprehensive Guide to the Guides...you will be very happy.
BZ is compiling everyting there. after you're done reading all those guides(N.Jolly's included) you can have fun absorbing the Guide to the Builds that is linked toward the bottom.

Actually, a mod or someone was keeping it updated for a fair while (at least a year, if I remember correctly). I think whomever it was stopped doing so when Broken Zenith started posting his most excellent compilation.

You must have an old copy.

Thanks for this incredibly useful compilation!
However, Axe's Guide to Finding Divinity (cleric guide) leads to a 404, maybe you'd like to check or take the link down.

Thanks! It looks like Axe's guide is down permanently. I'll poke around, but take it off the list for now. Thanks for pointing that out!

The link was removed last December.

is there, somewhere on this forum, a guide about Game Mastering pbf?
There is the GM's Guide to Challenging Encounters but as a guide to Game Masetering in general? No. There are a lot of great blogs and stuff out there or even posts on the forum. I suggest reading the Advice forum and searching for GM help threads.
Broken Zenith |
There's actually Brewer's Guide to GMing and the mini The Top 10 Tips for New GM's as well.

Thank you, these guides were interesting to read.
What i'm looking for is more about the "how to" use of map and tokens on the Paizo forum. Do you have to scan your book's map? Is there a place (here or elsewhere) when you can find or download the maps used in Paizo adventures?
I'd like to master a PbF here, a short adventure first, not a full AP.

I typically use a screen capture tool to snip the maps edit them in photoshop - GIMP is a good free program that can be used for the same purpose - to remove things only the GM should see using the clone tool and then put them up in google docs as a drawing. Load player tokens to the drawing set share setting so those with the link can edit and everyone can move thier own tokens.

I'd like to submit a guide I recently finished:
Deadeye's Servant: A Guide to the Archery Paladin
The discussion thread is over here. The guide uses material from the core rules, APG, ARG, and UC.

Guide to metamagic (not mine).
Also not mine are three guides, one for each of the Path of War classes:
Stalker
Warlord
Warder
All three are works in progress (as is Path of War itself).

Thanks Cevah. What an interesting read.

Sup all, still messing around with 5th Ed, but since the ACG is out now, work will be starting on the DR/AA themed Investigator's guide soon, although it will have a considerable amount of borrowed content from the Alchemist guide where appropriate, since they are similar classes, and I really don't feel like doing write ups on the same things that have the same functions (like Extracts, unless there's some that particularly serve the Investigator better), as well as updating my Alch and Barb guide with info from the book as soon as it hits the SRD.

I wonder if anyone is working on the new classes from the ACG. The only class I have been fiddling with so far is the Arcanist, but I have yet to have a chance to play it.
There are several posts in this very thread just above your own, in which people who have written guides previously announce their intention to do so.

Ah lol. Guess I shouldn't have skipped right to the end after looking at the page to see if there was. Thanks.
