I found this figure's body to be an excellent way to learn glazing and wet blending. The figure's large surface area makes it difficult to accidentally put your flesh colored paint on the clothing. Yet the folds allow you to practice various shading techniques.
The face, however, is small! The eyes and face are no smaller than many figures, but that doesn't make the eyes any less difficult (and frustrating) than painting other mini's.
Myself, I like to first prime in white, wash in black, and drybrush in white. This adds shadow and contrast, and particularly helps the lines in the face, especially the mouth.
For my players, he's a kind of lovable selfish bully with some inner soft spots (the metaphorical kind--literally he is a big soft spot). Easily the most distinctive mini on the board, he's stolen the spotlight from the main villain in the current module I'm running, which is a bit frustrating for trying to keep the story on track. (I'm a first-time GM and still learning the basics.) Highly recommended, especially if you like NPCs with odd sorts of 'inner beauty.'
I got this figure as a part of one of the Complete Encounters sets, painted him up, and use him as thug, guard, slaver, big dumb slob in a barfight, whatever. He's multi-talented! And my players think he's hilarious. Definitely one of my favorites.
I'm wondering how this guy would work as an Ogrekin? I mean if you did him up a little less like a Wyoming cowboy and bit more hillbilly. I mean he looks a fair bit mutant just from his picture--and oh yeah, the big version of the picture opened up. This guy is perfect!
I've got a half-ogre thieves' guild jailer/torturer in my Osirion campaign and this guy looks like he would do awesomely as a mini for that guy!
