A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1-5.

Shrouded in thick fog, the shifting Gloomspires north of the Shackles have long frustrated explorers. However, a recent discovery by the Pathfinder Society has revealed a brief opportunity to navigate the columns safely and search for the lost treasure of the legendary pirate Sevenfingers. The only problem is that the Pathfinders are not the only visitors to the Gloomspires.

Written by Tom Phillips.

This scenario is designed for play in Pathfinder Society Organized Play, but can easily be adapted for use with any world. This scenario is compliant with the Open Game License (OGL) and is suitable for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game.

If you wanna RP, look for another scenario. But this was a great session! Any character can jump in as a first level and still enjoy it a lot

Eat or Be Eaten

4/5

Eaters is a combat scenario with a good story and some roleplay.

Other scenarios have been labelled as “horror” scenarios but don’t do the job. Eaters is especially gross and disgusting (in a good way). And the encounters... terrifying.

There is no doubt that this scenario can be deadly, especially if the PCs are not tactical. It can be very swingy and things can go bad quickly. We (were not smart) and got lucky. Perhaps scenarios like this should be labelled "veteran" so more casual players don't get their PCs slaughtered?

Having said that, learning about the Gloomspires, the inhabitants, and the pirates was fun. The encounters were memorable and well designed. There were opportunities for good roleplay throughout. There was a fun choice to make at the end.

”Detailed Rating”:

Length: Medium (3.5 hours).
Experience: Player at subtier 1-2 with 6 average PCs.
Sweet Spot: TBD.
Entertainment: I thought it was memorable. (8/10)
Story: Introduced us to a new location, a new culture. (8/10)
Roleplay: Some inter party and negotiation roleplay moments. Will depend on how bloodthirsty the group is. (7/10)
Combat/Challenges: Fun but perhaps too lethal. (8/10)
Maps: Colored maps really helped, especially in the main room. (8/10)
Boons: OK but will most likely be forgotten. (7/10)
Uniqueness: Learned about new cultures, new ways to corrupt PCs, and new ways to TPK. (8/10)
GM Preparation: TBD.

Overall: Eaters was an enjoyable horror scenario. (8/10).

More than your average dungeon crawl

4/5

Despite the name of the scenario, there are a variety of ways to go about it. Diplomacy can take you far here, and my players particularly enjoyed that aspect of the scenario.

Interesting things await in the Hall. No spoilers but your pathfinders will not be bored. Combat are perhaps a bit too easy but I'll take a relaxing scenario to a grueling dungeon crawl any day.

No Time to Chew the Fat!

4/5

A+ grade location
A grade encounters
A grade mission
C grade roleplaying opportunities

This mission really needed a hook for the PCs to talk and chat with one of the denizens of the Gloomspire. As it stands now, the party is expected to power attack everything in sight. Still, the rest of it is creepy as hell and very memorable. I'd love to see more from this author, especially if he started thinking up some roleplay challenges in addition to his terrifying dungeon challenges.

Oh gods what

I'll be keeping an eye out for this one!

It looks exciting!

Is it an omission or doesn't this scenario contribute to any faction's storyline?

This scenario does not contribute to any of the factions' goals—at least not directly.

Thanks for the information, John!

Ooooo, a Halloween release! I'd better make this one extra nasty. ;-)

I tried to search up where Gloomspires are. Apparently they are a "in this scenario only" type of location?

Doing my research, it appears to have been mentioned in an RPG SuperStar entry. Other than that, I know nothing about it.

Which map packs/flip mats are used in this scenario? (I really wish yall would release that info with every scenario once it has been finalized so GM's can see if they have the particular resources.)

Submitted by this adventure's author, featuring this adventure's location, and even mentioning the same NPC... hmmmmm... =)

GM's only:

I used this map for the top of the Gloomspire containing the tomb. Unfortunately, it's currently out of print.

Thanks Tom!

I need to learn to keep two eyes on the ninja.

You need more eyes than that.

Would this scenario be good for a character on a large mount? I can't tell from the description whether it takes place outside or inside.

In response:
It would be challenging but not impossible for a Large mount.

An amazing ride tonight. Thoroughly engaging delve into horror that brings the Society back to the explore part of the motto.

A bit of squeezing, but nothing bad. Only a few places are only 5 feet across.

I beg to differ; it would be extremely difficult to get the mount where it needs to go.

The side column graphics make the module unreadable in the bottom of the columns when printed black and white. Please stop those little graphical background flourishes that add nothing to the content as a playable module but mess with the printing

Anyone know if their will be follow-up scenarios like the Labyrinth of Hungry Ghosts published, or are anymore Gloomspire adventures not going to happen?

Hello, how many level 1 players is this adventure written for?

Thanks in advance!

Like any PFS adventure from Season 4 on, this is written with 6 players in mind, but there are adjustments provided to adjust it for only having 4 players.
