BADGER!

5/5

All the minis in this set vary from good to fabulous. Kyra looks GREAT.

And Biter the Badger is awesome. The set would be worth it just for those two. Everything else is gravy. Yummy yummy gravy.

Great set

5/5

Stupid forum ate my review...

Buy this set. Seriously. Merisiel and Amiri have great poses, Harsk and Ezren are decent, and there's a badger.

The Kyra in this set is gorgeous. It's the best prepainted mini I've ever seen - bar none - and even surpasses a few that I've commissioned from professionals.

Good Value

5/5

The iconic heroes sets are the best character minis that Wizkids have ever done. These sets give consumers good quality minis at a reasonable price.

Having said that, the faces on the miniatures do not contain the level of detail as their stock images on this web site. Not even close. The minis look like minis (which is sometimes a good thing since I don’t like the creepy look on Lini’s face in the stock image). Still, most of the faces look good and contain a level of detail not found in other minis.

Besides the face, the level of detail on their clothes, gear, and even tattoos are perfect, and couldn’t be any better.

It's worth noting that all of the weapons in this set were straight.

Mini specific ratings:

Amiri: Good.

Ezren: His face looks smushed like a pig and looks nothing like the stock image. His yellow shirt is orange/red. Amazingly all the remaining details on his clothing, buckles and material components are perfect. Although it's acceptable (mostly because of how good the clothing looks), it's the worst mini of this set.

Kyra: Great, amazing level of detail. The best mini of this set.

Merisiel: Good.

Harsk: Good, but his red gloves were brown.

Biter: Good (which is rare for animal minis) but instead of being black and white, Biter was painted black and grey.

”Pathfinder Card Game Exclusive Cards”:

If you’re into organized play, you’re probably also interested in what the exclusive cards offer.

Barbarian (weapon): +1 2H sword. Extremely useful to a starting character and will be used until one of the last adventures.

Wizard (item): Recharge the item to use Arcane for a single non-combat check. Extremely powerful and will be used until the end.

Cleric (blessing): Blessing of the Dawnflower is almost identical to a blessing of Sarenrae but with the ability to play another blessing on the check. Extremely powerful for Kyra who will use it the entire AP, somewhat powerful for other clerics.

Rogue (item): Boots that buff stealth and acrobatics checks, also allow exchange with an item in the discard pile. Useful to a starting character, I’m not sure about later.

Ranger (item): Discard to buff diplomacy / perception for any character at your location. Reveal to allow scouting if a liquid trait boon is played. Considering that the only liquid item available is found in adventure 5, I don't believe this is a useful boon.

Ranger (ally): Biter allows a character to explore again with a +d6 combat bonus, but only if it’s a monster. Only useful if no other animal allies are available. Not useful, disappointing.

Good product for the right price.

Already sold out of this product?? Hope they have more come release time...cant drop the cash for all of them at once

Grand Lodge

When was this released???

Sczarni

It was originally going to be a Feb release, when it was pushed back, they most likely didn't update the release date in the system, so it just showed the current stock of 0 and sold out when the original release date was reached.

I suspect the status should be pre-order, like sets #1 and #3.

It has not been released. It will be, most likely, a month or so after the first set is released, which also has not been released yet.

Man... after getting set #1, I'm REALLY looking forward to set #2! Is there a street date yet for this set?

My Subscription page has it listed as a march release with the rest of the sub, its sitting in the sidecart. Since these authorise in the next few days I assume it won't necessarily be going out with this months subs.

Lantern Lodge Customer Service Dire Care Bear Manager

Its not going out with March subs. We'll update it in our system as soon as we know more.

Sorry for being dense here but does this mean the street date is not expected until mid to late April or early May?

Is it right that this set (#2) will ship after set #3?

It is stated as late april on the product schedule page where set #3 is stated as early april...

Or did that get switched?

Thx Sara

There was some old/bad data in the system that was displaying this incorrectly. It's as accurate as the information that we currently have available.

I just got word from my local dealer in germany - he will receive set 2 on thursday 26th of march. I´ll post a review on the weekend. :-)

Liberty's Edge

Any update on the specific date that this set will be released?

Well, it's April... when do I start harassing my FLGS to get me a box?

May, it would seem.

Noooooooooo!

Could just be the one heading to Paizo's warehouse, and other shops will have them earlier.

Dark Archive

Dear Paizo Staff.

Could you please clarify when this set (and the ones after) will ship and why?

Is the delay only for America or is the rest of the world (Europe, Asia) being delayed too?

Lately a lot of Paizo products are delayed again and again.
I understand that this is an aftereffect of the port strikes but i find it hard to comprehend that this can cause a delay for more than 2 month (3 in this case).

Some customers are already complaining and that is not good.
It would be cool if you could make the reasons more transparent.
I love your products and will keep on buying them and it would help my wallet to know when i have to save some money. ;-)

Thank you for your time and effort.

Marco,

These are not a Paizo product. They are a Wizkids product that is licensed through Paizo to make Paizo creations into minis.

Paizo does not have control over the release of the product, although they work with Wizkids and therefore, have a ball park date that might be a moving target as it is in this case.

I asked my local store owner to order the set for me today and he said that the distributor he goes through for Wizkids products (I think it might have been Alliance) had it listed as not available for order. However, he was able to pre-order set 3 for me. He said they're kind of weird like that and that I'll just have to ask about it again later. I wonder if the delay confused their system or something.

I know that Paizo is not to blame for the delays - it was not my intent to do that.
I just want to be informed better.
The way it is now i have to search here and there for a release date that keeps changing.
Paizo could give the information they have to us (thanks Kajehase)and change the release date on the top of this page and in the "Product Catalogue and Schedule" section a little faster. ;-)

When they have the new dates from a different company. They do what they can.

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

We change the date as soon as we have official news that a date has changed. In the cases of *most* products from other companies, these dates change automatically when our distributor's database is updated. In this particular case, we learned of the delay before our distributor did, so we adjusted it first. So not only did we make the change as soon as we knew, but we were among the first to know.

In late February, the executive director of the Agriculture Transportation Coalition said "We know that even upon ratification, clearing up the congestion will take months." And that was late February.

The Longshore & Shipping News reported on March 15 that Long Beach still has "a massive inventory that will take about three months to clear."

Also, I can tell you from experience that the closer to the intended release date that a product is delayed, the more likely that it is that the delay occurred in shipping and/or customs.

For example, if we have a product that we're releasing in August that's coming by sea, it's going to be on a boat in June. If it's *not* on the boat in June, that means we'll know 2 months beforehand that it's going to be late. But once it makes the boat, unless the boat sinks, or a container falls overboard (which we have admittedly had happen), the next common opportunity for delay is when the boat reaches port, which will usually be just a few weeks before the product is due to be released.

So the fact you're hearing about it now as opposed to two months ago is a very good indicator that the reason you've heard is correct.

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to give you all a heads up that Iconic Heroes Set #2 is back in April! We will be able to ship them out with subscriptions this month. The April New Releases Thread Has been updated to reflect this.

So what you're telling me is that a bunch of sahuagin have bunches of copies of some Pathfinder product. "Raiders of the Fever Sea" by any chance? Or which product was it? :D

The time we had a delay caused by containers going overboard, the containers that went over didn't actually contain any of our products. We were delayed because the ship and its contents were held for examination by insurers when it reached port. It caused the GM Screen and the second printing of the Core Rulebook to be delayed by about a month.

We also had a delay when a crane dropped a container on another container—one of them did have our products inside, but I forget which. We've also had trucks carrying our products catch fire (yep—trucks, as in "it happened more than once").

Liberty's Edge

That's kind of awesome, in an "I'm sorry it happened" kind of way.

Does someone from the company go on location to see whole bunches of smooshed or burned products, or do you just receive a "we regret to inform you" letter?

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

In the case of the dropped container, we were delivered product and had to sort out good from bad. In the case of the truck fires, it was "here's the tracking numbers of the stuff that was destroyed."

So has this hit the street yet? I see it is no longer listed as a "pre-order".

It looks like it has. Remember, this is not a Paizo product, so the street date is not under their control.

This isn't directly related to Paizo, but I wanted to share it anyway.

I just got into statue collecting. If you think miniature and printed paper product delays are horrible…you've seen nothing until you've pre-ordered a statue still in concept-design. Woah nelly…

And that's not even factoring in any strikes or transportation mishaps.

I know it isn't Paizo's product and so they don't have control... I just ask because I really really want to support my FLGS but they routinely tell me something isn't on the street yet but I see it available on Paizo, Amazon, Ebay, etc... I want to shop local... but they don't make it easy.

My local FGLS said it is not out yet. :-(

I am really looking forward to this one.

After reading all these posts I was really surprised to find this set in my local gamestore yesterday ... living in Europe is an advantage for once, wow!

BTW, the mini's look great. The quality is a serious step beyond the usual standard.

I need Lem. Unfortunately, while there was a Lem in an early PF Battles release, he is now "unavailable". :-(

If you can paint (or know someone who can) you can get Lem unpainted from Reaper in their Bones line for less than $2. Or places like MiniatureMarket.com sells (and has in stock) the pre-painted Lem from the Shattered Star set for a heft price.

Mine has been shipped. They are out and getting into the stores. I have not checked my local store being I have ordered them from Paizo at a discount.

I can paint. You open the bottle and throw the paint at the mini, right? :-)

I'll check out the hefty price. Thanks for the info.

Wondering if I'm the only one... I've been comparing the Kyra from my Beginner's Box Heroes set to the Kyra in Iconic Heroes Set #2 and I've noticed her BBH version robes are painted with quite a bit more detail than that of her IHS2 version. I expected the ICH2 version to be superior.

I wonder why they included a bloody badger and not Lem in this set?

They're doing a Medium (or smaller) pet in every Iconic Heroes set, I believe. ^_^

Pathfinder LO Special Edition, Maps, Pathfinder Accessories, PF Special Edition Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Starfinder Superscriber

Yes. So we get five characters and one pet/familiar/companion/whatever in each set. Six sets would give us 30 characters. There are 31 iconic characters. Hmm. How many have pets/familiars/whatever? I count six, not looking at the ten hybrid classes. So six sets, including the 21 base classes that are not hybrids, and including six pets. That leaves room for nine of the ten hybrids, so we're still one short.

Waiting is…

Lem can be considered a pet.

What are the six pets you're counting? It seems like they're only doing medium and small minis in this set, so if you're counting things like Seoni's lizard and Alain's horse, they probably won't make the cut. In fact, since the pet seems to come with its owner and Seoni and Alain have already come out, those two pets almost definitely won't be included.

By my count, there are three iconics left that have pets: Adowyn (Hunter, wolf), Feiya (Witch, fox), and Shardra (Shaman, tuatara). However, both the fox and tuatara are tiny, so I don't know if they'd make minis for them. But, although they are tiny, they both have a strong presence with their respective iconics so it's really hard to say. Personally, I think there may be a better chance of the fox getting a mini since the tuatara has a card in the card game already (although by that logic, the wolf already has a card as well, but whatever).

Anyway, point being, I think it's perfectly possible that they may break the usual format for one of the sets and not include a pet, allowing them to complete the current 31 iconics with the sixth set.

Silver Crusade Contributor

Plus, they've already made a fox mini. ^_^

Kalindlara wrote:

They have already made minis of almost all of the figures in the sets so far. Don't see that as a restriction for doing a unique fox if they wanted to.

Silver Crusade Contributor

The previous post expressed some doubt over whether a fox mini would be made, due to size. ^_^

Will there be a fourth, fifth, and so on box set of these? Considering that they seem to be selling out -fast-, I was thinking maybe probably hopefully so, since the minis -and- the cards are nice additions to any Pathfinder collection.

Yes. See this comment from Vic Wertz.
