I am opening recruitment for a PFS table of #4-06: The Green Market (5-9).

I have three players who have never played a PbP game before, but they are all experienced PFS players/GMs, and a fourth player who has as much PbP experience as I do.

With that in mind, I am going to be very selective in who I chose for the other two slots.

Please indicate the following if you wish to be considered for this game.

Character Name
Class or major role
Level
Have you played this scenario?
Have you GMed this scenario?

Please read the following before applying.

Expectations for Players

Welcome to our PbP game together. Here are my expectations for players that I find make the experience easier for me as GM, and better for all of the players. :)

Have a complete stat block in your profile:
I will only accept characters who have a complete stat block in their profile. You should be able to run your character entirely from your stat block. If you need your character sheet or ITS in front of you also, then it is incomplete. Feel free to apply in Recruitment threads with a character that isn't up to date, but make sure to have a completed profile before the game starts.

Post every day:
One to two posts per weekday and once per weekend is about the average pace of games. If you will be unable to post for a few days, please let the group know.

Move your minis on the map:
I use Google Drawings and/or Google Slides. If you are unable to manipulate the maps (iPhones have this problem), just indicate in your posts how you want your character to move so that someone else can do so for you.

Make posts interesting:
Most of your posts should include both dialog and descriptive text. Dialog should be bold text in quotes.

Make your dice rolling clear:
You attacks and damage should be on separate lines, and in blocks. They should include any bonuses. You can add the bonuses yourself or you can leave them separate (which is what I tend to do so that I make sure to count them all). Here is an example:

"Take that!" Elska says as she fires 2 arrows at the ghoul with her composite longbow.
attack 1, rapid shot, Point-Blank Shot: 1d20 + 4 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 4 - 2 + 1 = 11
damage, Point-Blank: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5

attack 2, rapid shot, Point-Blank Shot: 1d20 + 4 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 4 - 2 + 1 = 21
damage, Point-Blank: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 = 8

Link to your spells and abilities:
I don't know all your spells and abilities. If it is a magic missile, you are fine. But if you cast anything even remotely more obscure, please link to it. Pretty much everything that is PFS-legal can be found at www.archivesofnethys.com. That is my preferred site.

Let me know if you have a wonky ability that I need to know about before I need to know about it:
Is your character built around some unusual ability or combo? Let me know about it up front so I can learn how it is supposed to work. If there are FAQs about it, link to those for me so that I can be up to speed before it comes into play. Is your ability somewhat up to table variation? Let me know that, and I will try to rule as fairly to you as I possibly can.

Give me feedback:
I know the rules pretty well, but I don't know everything. If I mess something up, don't hesitate to bring it up (in the Discussion thread or via PM). PbP has the advantage that rules discussions don't bog down the game like they can in face-to-face games.

Explore, Report, Cooperate!:
Remember that we are all here to have fun. Try to share the spotlight with other players. I don't care if you can one-shot every encounter; many of my own characters are built that way too. Just make sure that everyone else gets to show off too. :)

Grand Lodge

Fox, I'm interested but I have only one character in that range. Who else is part of the team? What are the levels and classes of the other characters?

Also, would you accept a pair applying? The character I'm thinking of submitting is Zahra Senay, a sylvan sorc, who is paired with her husband Omar Senay, Bret's Cleric. Will this be a fast-moving game like the other one I saw you run?

Hmm

Hmm

I would certainly consider a pair. :)

The other players are my wife and three of our friends (Codanous and his wife, and one of my local VLs). Only Codanous and I have participated in PbP but the others have been wanting to have a go at it in a game with familiar faces, so to speak.

The other characters are:
1. Alchemist 6
2. Unknown 7
3. Unknown 9
4. Probably a rogue 9, but she is open to other characters depending on the needs of the group.

I hope the pace is pretty close to the other game I ran. Was that too fast?

I haven't read the scenario yet, so I won't be starting for a couple of days at least. My sense, though, is that a sylvan sorcerer and a cleric would enjoy this one.

Sovereign Court

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I have an aasimar sorcerer 5 who uses a glaive. He concentrates on summoning spells and can mix it up in melee. Sidney is an open book, all his XPs are on these boards, so you can just search under his alias.

I like to play him as a low int, but charismatic piece of beefcake that is impressed with himself.

Actually fast-moving would be good. Bret would be upset if I tied up our only high level pair in a PBP that took months to complete.

Let me see what he thinks.

Hmm

There is also a CORE game of this same scenario being run by GM Aerondor, if anyone is interested.

Liberty's Edge

This character would love a slot if there is one available

I have not played. Have not read. Unchained monk who uses style feats and focuses on the melee attack

The Green Market sounds interesting.

Hilary is right that we really don't want to tie up our high-level characters for very long though. I need to talk to her about this. Might still work if I go slow-track.

I've already got Omar's stat block in the profile. I've got to spend money before playing him next, but you can get an idea of what he can do by peeking at the profile. I've never run him in PbP, so there isn't really much I can point to that is a demonstration of his personality.

Grand Lodge

A conservative man holding a large ornate bow in one hand with a quiver on his back and hip enters the room, his face is shrouded, 'cept for his yellow Pupil-Slit eyes and just a stripling of red-skinned flesh betraying his Tiefling heritage. "The papers overestimated my abilities but here I am. My bow Swordslinger and I are combat ready."

My bad, this character is level 8 still, he is 1 xp from 9, bad memory

Sovereign Court

I have never played or GMed this scenario. I also have a dwarf zen archer level 7 that is free. He eats spicy Varisian sandwiches and is quite gruff with a 5 Charisma. He tends to insult people he thinks aren't pulling their weight, and as a disciple of Irori, he has high standards for himself and other Pathfinders.

Sidney has the 3 summoned monster feats so his favorite trick is to probably summon 1d3+1 augmented celestial dogs or eagles when he is not trying to hit things with has glaive.

Grand Lodge

I have this 8 oracle if you still have room. Or a 9 ninja. I've not played or GMed this scenario.

Grand Lodge

A striking Keleshite woman comes in to the lodge, accompanied by an equally striking and well-behaved tiger.

"Hello! I am Zahra, and this is Pumpkin, and that handsome man is my husband, Omar." She beams and offers you her hand to kiss. Then the tiger offers you his paw. "Ve are from Kat-a-pesh! Ve are very interested in this mission! But could you give us a few more details, Venture Captain?"

  • Start date?
  • Is there anyone else who's melee other than Pumpkin?

Neither Bret nor I have played and GMed this mission before. We are a paired submission.

  • We will start as soon as the players all have character sheets in their profiles, and as soon as the GM reads the scenario. ;)

I'm guessing a start date in the next couple of days. I can also hold off for a day or two if there is a F2F game you want to use your characters in before we start.

Here is the composition that we have currently:

    • Archery Eldritch Knight 8
    • Mindchemist 6
    • Cavalier 7 (and her "Doom-chicken", they are melee)
    • either Rogue 9 or TWF Slayer 6 (the slayer is pretty roguish herself; both are melee)

If you and Bret join, we would add:

    • Sorcerer 5
    • Cleric 7

    That would be

      APL = 42/6 = 7; or APL = 39/6 = 6.5.

If Sprite brings her rogue, you would be playing up with the 4-player adjustment. If she brings her slayer, you would have your choice of which tier to play.

If Zahra and Omar want to join, they are in. If not, I will choose two others.

I have opened up the Gameplay thread. Feel free to dot.

Your characters begin on a ship from Absalom to Korvosa. You may role play introductions to one another on board the ship.

    Grand Lodge

Oh, that would be a perfectly balanced party! Omar and I are in!

Correction: Zahra is level 6, one XP from 7. I updated my statblock but apparently not my headers, which I will need to get fixed right away!

Ok. It sounds like you will be playing up, regardless of what Sprite brings.

    RECRUITMENT CLOSED

Thank you to everyone who has expressed interest.

GM Aerondor said he might be able to take anyone who couldn't get into my game.

    Grand Lodge

    Dotted and deleted gameplay.

Do you have a preferred format for the headers? I'll want to make a couple of purchases before gameplay starts.

    Lantern Lodge

Classic players, feel free to jump over to my recruitment thread

Just make sure when you post you say you are classic not core.

    Omar Senay wrote:

I will post as a character in the Gameplay so you can see how I like the headers. If it is close to that, it will be fine. It doesn't need to match perfectly. They are as much for your benefit as it is mine. My one request is to provide links to spells or obscure abilities when you use them in play (or have them linked in the header). Common spells like CLW or magic missile are fine without linking.

    Such as:

Elska casts gravity bow on her glistening darkwood composite longbow.

You can make purchases in Absalom before leaving, or you can wait until Korvosa after the briefing. Both are large cities and have everything available.

@ Bret: it looks like the headers that you have for Colonel Tipper or Joli are just about perfect. :)

    While I'm thinking of it...

Can you all post the following information for the sake of reporting? (but with your own info.)

    Character Name Juniper Berrythwaite
    PFS # 75958-10
    Faction Silver Crusade
    Level 8
    Day Job Profession (chimney sweep): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 Good job, Juniper! ::facepalm::

Remember, you can take 10 on your Day Job.

I already have Zahra's Day Job of 33.

    Thanks! :)
