Chapter 6: "From Hell’s Heart"
by Jason Nelson

With an enemy fleet intent on conquering the Shackles looming on the horizon, the adventurers must launch their own fleet of pirates and buccaneers to defend against the invaders, culminating in an epic naval battle at the edge of the Eye of Abendego. Will the adventurers defeat the invading navy and save the Shackles? Or will the independence of the Free Captains be eradicated forever?

This volume of Pathfinder Adventure Path includes:
  • “From Hell’s Heart,” a Pathfinder RPG adventure for 13th-level characters, by Jason Nelson.
  • Pirate plots and sinister situations to expand the horizon of your Skull & Shackles campaign, by Adam Daigle.
  • More menacing sea monsters and terrors from the deep plaguing the Shackles, by Adam Daigle.
  • A pirate showdown in the Pathfinder’s Journal, by Robin D. Laws.
  • Seven new monsters, by Adam Daigle, Amanda Hamon, Mark Moreland, Eric Morton, and William Thrasher.

Each monthly full-color softcover Pathfinder Adventure Path volume contains an in-depth adventure scenario, stats for several new monsters, and support articles meant to give Game Masters additional material to expand their campaign. Pathfinder Adventure Path volumes use the Open Game License and work with both the Pathfinder RPG and the world’s oldest fantasy RPG.

I Am The Hurricane King! From Hell's Heart.

5/5

This is the shattering conclusion to what I have found to be the best adventure path thus far. I have a thing for pirates (Rum, buggery, and the lash!) but the game itself is beautifully written and a cunningly balanced mix of action and intrigue. Never had this much fun in a campaign before. So, Moby Dick is the BBEG? Or maybe Khan?

Naval battle at the Eye?

Very Pirates-of-the-Carribbean-movie-esque.

Not that I'm complaining. I'm stoked for this AP.

The Eye of Abendego again? :/

Well, it seems in #57 it's a RACE. So that'll be one facet of the eye.

#60 will have a grand navel battle taking place. When you figure how big the Eye is, you kind of can't avoid it in the Shackles region.

Nice, an epic navel battle.

My bets are on the bad guys being the Chelaxian Navy.

I totally agree. There had just better be a large sea-monster that pops up to join the fun in the middle of the large sea-war.

And I call playing Ahab.

Ah, Kyra could take them all. Those dervishes know how to work it.

Yes!

PCs get their own ship, island, port and a fleet of ships ending in an epic naval battle in the eye of a frakking huge hurricane!? This is going to be good!

Great Title!

To be greeted with a call of "Hello, Beastie"

A sudden, outside enemy appears that threatens the PCs? I sincerely hope this isnt going to be another dude of an episode 6. I hope these enemies have been worked in throughout the AP and not a sudden surprise.

I hope Scylla and Charybdis show up to blow this party into space, especially Charybdis would be cool in a naval battle!

I hope Scylla and Charybdis shows up in at least of these APs, preferably together, or at least close by.

If there even slight delays, this is going to be coming out awfully close to International Talk Like a Pirate Day...

7 new monsters!

Nice art but I was hoping for at least one AP that has no evil outsiders but that creature in the art makes me think otherwise.

spoiler:
That's a host devil from Princes of Darkness. I'm with you on this, I don't care for a glut of evil outsiders in the APs. However given that your adversaries in this adventure are soldiers from Cheliax - home of devil worship - it really does fit. Also, I'm guessing that other than this adventure, Skull and Shackles will be light on evil outsiders.

Spoiler:
Reading the Lore and the title I also immediately thought of Cheliax. Or what would be real interesting is if inside the eye is some sort of worldwound type event.

Eric Morton... ? Isn't he the guy who calls himself Epic Meepo on the messageboards ?

I've been thinking that too, though I'd have the Eye opening into the Elemental Planes and not the Lower Outer Planes.

With the delay of the 4/5 shipment, when is this estimated to ship?

Backorder? It's just now releasing, how is my subscription already backordered?

Oh well, really just looking forward to Shattered Star, so I'll live with the wait.

Us subscribers are taken care of before any other non-subscription orders. Let them worry about it.

Just a little concerned about the backorder thing, too. Especially when it says, 'Will not ship until all backordered items arrive at our warehouse. ' above the order.

Can we get a little clarification, please?

Dark Archive

Maybe the shipment is held up at customs again.

If Paizo are doing well enough to have sold out instalment 6 of an AP before it's released then I'm very happy.

More likely it's just a glitch though, imo.

The same thing happened before PaizoCon, so I'm assuming the same issue has cropped up. Sub numbers are higher than previous years at Con time. Between subscribers copies and the copies they need to set aside to bring for sale at the convention (PaizoCon earlier this summer and now GenCon), the warehouse is more or less wiped out at the moment. When it happened last time, the backorder tag went away when the PaizoCon leftovers were brought back to the warehouse. And then, I believe, they subsequently received some more stock as well.

Just a theory, but sine the same thing happened only a month or 2 ago, I think it's a relatively sound one. Either way, subscribers shouldn't have to be worried, I don't think.

Subscribers will get their copies of this, never fear! All available copies have been gobbled up by hungry hungry subscribers, so there might be a slight delay getting it to your FLGS, if you're waiting for it there. Don't worry subscribers, we've got you covered!

I was starting to think Cosmo had opened all the boxes and made a fort out of the books and was refusing to come out of his fort.
