Dotting; will post tomorrow.
Thanks for carryin' this on Haymish. :)

Don't know about the thief, but the lovers know exactly what role the other has.
Personally, I don't much like the idea of the thief, the the role of lovers is intriguing and I think we should use it.

Good luck to the citizens. With both a scanner and me gone you're going to have a tough time with it.

"Why everyone argue about not-important stuff? We need to find mutants and get rid of them."

Vote for the Duke.

Seeing Sutra's body, Thoen's face reddens and he clenches his massive fists tightly. "Why pretty lady have to be killed? Now we all are in trouble."
Turning to Jin he continues. "Thoen know where condwits are. He help put them here. He will lead you to them." Quickly scooping up the woman's body, he beckons for the others to follow as he makes his way through a maze of rooms and passages to where the conduits are, gently setting her to rest within one of them.

I think I'll have to agree on that. I think any conditional votes will have to be PMed to me. Attempting to force a draw is a good tactic for mutants and it's kind of unfair to attempt to push that out. I will take that vote as a simple vote.

That's fair. I'll keep it in mind.

Not going to have a chance to post again before the cycle ends, so taking a shot in the dark and voting for Jiminy. (If there's a tie I will change my vote to whoever of those tied comes first alphabetically.)

"Thoen already say he is not mutant. Why you not believe him?"
Realizing that he had only answered half of Sutra's question, he continues after a moment's pause. "Thoen not know who agents are; agents always be sneaky and not tell Thoen who they are.
Who does talky lady think mutants are? Thoen smash mutants if we find them."

Lynching only requires the most votes.

Make sure votes are formatted correctly. I almost missed Thoen's vote because it was tied into his sentence.

[Name: Votes for Name]

My bad on that one; it didn't fit very well with the rest of what I said, but I should've put it in there anyway with all the new players we have.

As Thoen finishes his meal he turns to the group, carefully thinking of what he will say before slowly speaking; "All you smart folk keep talking of killing mutants, but none of you have actually done anything about it. Thoen vote we get rid of Ocid. She use big words that make my head hurt lots."

Just had to do something to get us moving, cycle 1 ends tomorrow and no one has even made any accusations.

Hearing his name mentioned, Thoen looks up. His face scrunches up in confusion for a moment as he tries to make sense of the Librarian's words, but then he speaks.
"Thoen not know what ant-eye sochal is," he stumbles over the words he doesn't recognize, mispronouncing them, "But he's not a mutant. Mutants are bad. Thoen not bad; Thoen just works and does as he's told."

Finally seeming to notice that there is food, Thoen stands up and makes his way over to the dispenser. After filling his plate with enough to feed four ordinary humans he settles amongst the rest of the group and eats quickly and quietly, not making any attempt to start conversation.

I also have no preference.

Thoen sits in a corner, either not noticing or not taking interest in the food. Instead he stares off into the space in front of him and it seems to others that he is thinking very hard about something or other.

Name: Thoen Smith.

Species: Genetically Enhanced Human.

Appearance: Thoen stands at nearly eight feet tall, with bulging muscles and gigantic hands built to work.

Personality" Through the process used to make him stronger and more resistant to harmful environs, Thoen's mind has been dulled. with an IQ of about 80, he mostly does what he is told, but is sometimes surprisingly observant.

Occupation: General repair work. Usually moving and holding large parts while the smarter folk put fix them to other parts.

Thoen was just about to get his lunch, and is now rather unhappy that he wasn't able to have some food. Being hungry makes him kind of angry.

I like the idea of jedi/sith, but am up for anything else as well.

"I will take the role of library caretaker. Alessandra was a good friend before she was bitten, and I would like to keep some memory of her."

Sorry, thought I'd done that.
Vote for Bruce.

Although hesitant to consume more drink after his last experience, Thoen quickly picks up a mug and raises it.
"Of course Mr. McWhite. A toast to finding the last of these monsters and restoring our town to what it once was and what it may yet become."

Thoen walks into the pub where everyone else has gathered, although without ordering a drink, hearing Simon's words he turns to him.
"Simon, I trust that you speak the truth, seeing as no one steps forward to denounce you.
Bruce, do you have anything to say in your own defense?"

"How can we trust you Alessandra? You claim that you will merely give us one bite and all will be well. But if such were the case then you could have done as much from the beginning--while instead you have killed our people and forced us into a situation where we must kill each other.
You do not wish for a peaceful situation, and your crimes are too great against you. You must be hung."

After returning from his breakfast and returning to the group Thoen easily steps forward and begins stripping. Beyond his muscular physique, the only thing of any note is a rather large and shapeless birthmark covering his lower back.

"Your request that a man who sheds innocent blood also be condemned to death is fair, Miss Devries. However, under these extenuating circumstances we simply do not have time to hang another person unless we have reason to believe that they are one of the wolves. Rest assured that each of us will pay for his crimes at the end of this--But for the time being we must focus on rooting out the evil that has come among our people."

Let's do some math, what will all of the scrying going around:

Keeping in mind that if Eldon is correct then Whitey must also be correct, and if Eldon is wrong then so is Whitey.
That being said, assuming that Whitey's friend is, in fact, the other scryer we can say that they probability of them being incorrect is 0.25∙0.25=0.0625=6.25% (Not very likely).

If Whitey's friend is just a normal villager (Which seems unlikely, but for the sake of possibility) then the chance of them being incorrect is 6/8 (guessing).
So 0.25∙(3/4)≈0.1875≈19% (Still not very likely).

If Whitey's friend is a wolf (Meaning we don't have a probability for them because they'll just be feeding us lies), then we have to go with Eldon's statistic alone.
0.25=0.25=25% (So slightly more likely that Alessandra is not a wolf, but not by much).

Sorry to throw you under the bus there Professor, but if us villagers are going to win we have to fight dirty. For what it's worth, I've really enjoyed playing with you.

"I do not claim to know anything about the spirits. I base my assumptions off of what I see and what I can discern from logic; and I have seen you change from the person I once knew into someone--Or something--else.
The fact that Whitey's friend and Eldon both accuse you as well is only further evidence to what I have myself observed."

With that closing statement, Thoen turns and strides purposefully away. Presumably returning to his home to find something to eat.

Vote for Alessandra Devries

"On the other hand, Professor, Eldon also saw you as a wolf; and thus far your silver tongue has caused us to ignore it.
But now you bring up the subject of authoritative argument. Isn't it interesting that Eldon's words are the best authority we have?--We all saw his mirror, Alessandra. Would you care to remind us again how you explain away that?"

Thoen stops piling bricks momentarily, taking a second to wipe his brow before bending to pick up another stack.
"Thank you Dan. This last few days have been hard on me and it wasn't until now that I realized I needed to do more than sit back and wait for the end to come.
I've lived in this town for too long to let it be taken by monsters--I will work to root them out until I myself am killed; hopefully I can do enough good to give everyone else a chance."

Seeming to have run out of alcohol, Thoen stumbles to his feet, unsteadily making his way to where the others are. Picking up a stack of bricks he makes his way closer to the monument and begins placing them.

Coming from his home late the next morning Thoen walks into the village center dreading what he might or might not see. Upon finding his old-time friend arguing with Simon he quickly turns back and walks the other way,
Why is it that my pain and guilt must be prolonged? Why can this awful situation not simply end and be done with?!

After a brief conversation with Whitey during which he buys another bottle of whiskey, Thoen sits down in the dust at the side of the road, rocking back and forth in a drunken stupor and quietly bemoaning his hardships.

Vote for the Professor

As the group breaks up to begin the erection of the momument, Thoen stays until only a few of the townsfolk are left before turning to speak to the Professor,
"It is true that you have been acting strangely these past few days, Alessandra. You have been a good friend to me and I have tried to stand by you in this, but there is too much going on here for me to allow my sentiments to get in the way; if you are the wolf, then I must do what is required to save this town and its people." A tear slowly fills his eye and begins tracking its way through the dust on his face before he catches it and turns away in shame. "I pray that I am correct in my assumption, for I would never forgive myself if I was wrong." Turning to face her again, Thoen finds his voice even more subdued and filled with guilt at what he is about to do; "I am sorry."

With those final words he slowly makes his way back to his home, ignoring the invitations of the others to join them in building the monument.
It has been years since Thoen has taken any kind of strong drink, but he stops Whitey and hands him a sack of coins before continuing on his way. More likely than not the rest of the town will not see their smith again until the next morning.

Vote for Alessandra Dervies

Finding a small group of people gathered around the professor Thoen makes his way over to find out what they are doing. Doing his best to recall what German he can, Thoen eventually gets the gist of what is said alongside the portrait.

"I never would have guessed that the doctor was a criminal. Perhaps we should confront him and give him a chance to prove either his innocence or his restitution."

"I too will help with the burials. Just let me grab the shovel I have in my forge--It wasn't designed for digging so much as moving coal, but it will get the job done. I will meet you all there."

Thoen then sets off at a quick jog towards the edge of town where his shop is set up.

Thoen steps between Whitey and Tristen before the younger man has a chance to cause physical harm to the other.
"Calm yourself boy, we gain nothing by throwing wild accusations against one another. We must be level-headed if we want any chance of living through this menace."

Sorry to be absent so long; I've spent the last day and a half moving furniture.

At the accusation of Alessandra, Thoen quickly speaks up:
"You are a stranger here Wowbagger, and as such have no right to make accusations against our people without evidence. I have known this lady since I was but a boy, and I have never had reason to suspect her intentions to be anything but the best for those with whom she associates.
Perhaps you yourself have some dark secret to hide, seeing as you so boldly denounce the integrity of one of the better among us?"

Returning vote to Wowbagger

Professor Alessandra Devries wrote:

Changing to a null vote. The chances of actually catching a wolf at this point are minimal, and I feel guilty about taking someone out of the game before it actually starts.

What is the break-even point with this line of reasoning? We start out with a 20% chance, and it seems that it would be in our best interest to take that chance rather than let the wolves whittle us down. If we do nothing at the wolves kill a villager, then we're down to 3/14, which only brings our odd up to 21.4 percent.

If we continue to do nothing, our odds (by pure statistical chance) are:

3/15 = 20%
3/14 = 21%
3/13 = 23%
3/12 = 25%
3/11 = 27%
3/10 = 30%
3/9 = 33%
3/8 = 37%
3/7 = 43%
3/6 = werewolves win

...it seems to be in our best interest to take every chance we get to kill a werewolf, rather than abstain.

Point conceded. Although my secondary reason still stands, plus the fact that I'm trying to play Thoen as a naturally rational and trusting person--willing to give others the benefit of the doubt. He very easily might change his mind if others also express evidence of wrong through their own suspicions though, so he might change his mind once solid accusations begin to be revealed.

When the others reach the pre-determined location for the bonfire, they find Thoen already there, gathering wood and clearing the area from any stray brush that might catch and allow the flames to get out of hand.

Those who are less drunk most likely notice the large sword leaning against a nearby tree. Although not lined with silver, the blade still looks thick enough to do considerable damage to any lycanthrope it meets--especially if wielded in hands of a man as large as the blacksmith.

Changing to a null vote. The chances of actually catching a wolf at this point are minimal, and I feel guilty about taking someone out of the game before it actually starts.

Also going to bed now.
Vote currently for Wowbagger--Aliens have all sorts of ulterior motives--unless someone changes Thoen's mind before the end of the cycle.

Thoen is unfazed by Eldon's anger, and replies to him calmly. "On the contrary, Eldon, you shovel is in my shop ready for you to pick up. You know I always keep my word, especially when not doing so would come at the expense of another man's work." Thoen then turns to Taraz, taking him gently but firmly by the arm.
"Come on Taraz. It's time to get you sober again; being as drunk as you are is not a good idea at a time like this."
He proceeds to lead him down the street and dunk his head several times in the horse trough in front of the inn, calling back to the professor "I will see which others I can gather for the bonfire, but in the mean time I must try to find more iron--Although if I cannot, I will take you up on your offer Vorian."

Thoen inserts himself into the conversation, his considerable size and voice making it impossible to ignore him.
"The lady is correct in that we cannot just stand by in the face of this threat under the pretense that all is well! We must take action to protect ourselves and our families!" Turning to Vorian, he continues, "I have spent the past day forging bars and new locks to protect the homes of our people, but my usual supplier has fled and I am out of materials; have you any iron among your wares?"

AAXII signing in.

Name: Thoen

Appearance Working in the forge since he was a young lad, Thoen is thickly built. At six and a half feet tall he is clean shaven with lightly colored hair but is otherwise nondescript.

Occupation Thoen is the town's blacksmith, making tools for the lumbermen and the other villagers when they need them.

Reason for Staying Thoen is fiercely loyal to this little town that he has helped build up from the beginning. He would rather die fighting for the people he cares about than run like a coward.

Well played everyone. Perhaps next game I will create a more respectable character.

Ampere seems lost in thought as Lachelnschiefe comes to, but the Doctor's remark seems to shake him out of his reverie. Slowly he steps forward, squaring his shoulders and lifting his head--For the first time shedding the visage of fear and reclusiveness that he has been shrouded in ever since the announcement of assassins spread through the ship.
"The reason you should not throw me over the side, Doctor, is really quite simple--I am not one of them.
If anyone is an assassin it most likely would be that Wowbagger type. You wouldn't believe some of the things he once said about my family. There are plenty of reasons to kill him even if he isn't one of them."

As if his statement settled the matter, Adrien quickly left the room, muttering something about needing fresh air.

Vote for Wowbagger the Infinitely Prolonged

Ampere slunk into the room after most of the others had already arrived, doing his best to avoid attention as he poured himself a glass of wine ad spiked it with something from a flask he took from his belt. He then took a seat in the corner of the room where he could watch everyone closely. Silently he sipped his drink and listened to the rest of the conversation around him.

Vote for Hamish, seeing as he was the only one who was making accusations before Ampere left, which he saw as a sign of having something to hide.

Although French, Ampere has made a point of learning his English very well, and speaks with an American accent because it makes him feel superior.

"I too agree that this Wowbagger is a rather suspicious character, although I am hesitant to make accusations before any crime has actually been comitted. Anyway, I am not overly concerned with the whole matter--I will see you all tomorrow."
Ampere downs the remainder of his wine and then hurries off to his room, not to be seen again until the next morning.
