Appearance:
Slandra is a large woman, muscular and standing 6 feet tall. Some people might consider her attractive, but she does little to display or enhance what attractiveness she might have, so to most people she generally seems rather masculine-looking and not an object of beauty at all. She has dark hair, which she only occasionally combs or washes, and dark eyes.

Personality:
Although Slandra is rather dim and slow-witted, she understands her limitations, and she makes use of what intelligence she has as best she possibly can. As such, she can seem very quiet most of the time, a thoughtful look on her face as she tries to work out what's going on around her. If it's something she understands well, however, she can quite suddenly become loud and rambunctious.

Background:
Slandra's earliest memory is of a large, ferocious beast. The image isn't clear in her mind, so it might have been a bear or a wolf or perhaps something far worse. She doesn't remember the circumstances, but she is certain the beast killed her parents (although she has no memory whatsoever of who her parents were).

A priest from the Church of Lenver found her as a toddler, two or three years old, wandering along a road in western Telva. She was clearly terrified and in a state of shock, but the young girl could not speak. If she had ever known any words of her native Kef, she never again spoke them, and she certainly doesn't remember them now. The priest, an elderly man named Abra, took her in as there was no sign of the girls parent's and no available space at any local orphanages. He had no other children and thus no experience in being a parent, but he was determined to give her the best, holiest life he could.

It became clear very early on that the girl was not very smart. She was extremely slow to pick up even the most basic of concepts and tasks. It was years before she could even speak a coherent sentence and several more years before she those sentences had any grammatical correctness. Abra's attempts to teach her basic academic skills, such as history or geography, were completely wasted as the young girl simply either didn't comprehend or just couldn't remember what she was told. He began to suspect that whatever had happened to her before he found her had stunted her mental development in some way.

Despite her lack of intelligence, she did take quickly to spiritual matters, something that Abra was quite relieved about. By the age of 10, she was able to help him out in the simple services he ran for the people of the small village in which they lived. Not long after that, Abra saw to it that she was admitted to training to become a cleric.

Her training was an mix of both brilliant success and utter failure. Not surprisingly, the academic side of her training suffered considerably, but she showed great aptitude for combat skills. In fact, there was a rage in her when she fought that sometimes disturbed her instructors. It was soon said that she was blessed by Menuo, the god whom she took the most interest in.

Although she had to struggle through other aspects of her clerical training, she made it through in the end, having just recently been ordained.
