About Sister Isabella

Isabella Maria Victoria Brightsword is the sixth daughter of Sir Reginald Bartholomew Brightsword VI, a Paladin of Iomedae and member of the Silver Crusade and his wife, Clara Elizabeth Brightsword. Sir Brightsword had wanted a son to carry on the family tradition as a paladin, but his wife kept giving birth to daughters. After much debate about the proper role for women in a noble household, he finally accepted that some of his daughters might have to become adventurers to carry on the family's long standing tradition.

When Isabella was 17 months old, and her oldest sister was already in training as a paladin, her younger brother was born, finally giving Sir Brightsword the son he'd always wanted. However, the acceptance of women adventurers in the family had already taken hold. Isabella dreamed from the time she was a little girl that some day, she would go away on voyages to exotic, far off lands to smite the forces of evil like her daddy. When her younger brother, Reginald VII, had trouble with the mental aspects of paladin training, and didn't seem likely to follow in their father's footsteps, it just cemented the possibility that Sir Brightsword's daughters would be the ones to carry on the family's noble adventures.

As she grew older, Isabella's education included instruction on all the good and noble gods, besides just the family's traditional patrons - the deceased god Aroden and the younger goddess Iomedae. While she respects them all, Isabella was particularly drawn to the stories of Sarenrae's compassion, bringing the sun's light to shine on the evil of the world, offering truth, redemption, and healing to any who would embrace it. Offering evil doers a chance at redemption put her slightly at odds with her father's traditional law and order stance of simply destroying the forces of evil, but Isabella knew that in the service of Sarenrae, she would still frequently need to smite any evil doers who either would not or could not be saved.

Deciding that this was the path for her, Isabella apprenticed in Sarenrae's temple in Absalom. There, she learned not only the routine prayers to thank the Dawnflower for her divine mercy, but many more earthly skills, as well. She was trained in the sacred art of scimitar combat, the proper use and cleaning of armor and weapons, and knowledge of many various religions and magics used throughout Golarion. Eventually, her devotion and hard work led to her being granted the ability to use the divine magic provided by almighty Sarenrae herself.

Armed with these gifts, Isabella Brightsword is ready to join her father in the Pathfinder Society, serving the Silver Crusade in the hopes of using the Society's vast resources for the greater good of all Golarion.
