About Roga

Background:

You asked for my story friend so listen now. I will give the short one as the evening is short and we have much work to do tomorrow.

I was born in a small hamlet along the south border of Rostland in land belonging to the Rogarvia family. I hail from the Kellid hence my name. My father was a hunter and my mother kept the house. I don’t recall us being very poor, but there were never plenty food or cloths. I still think my family lives in the same hamlet, perhaps some of my siblings moved away, I doubt it.

That’s properly not what you want to know, so let me tell you, how and why I joined the order. My father was raising me to become a hunter, I wasn’t very good, but I grasped the basics of animals and so forth. We had previously met a huntsman named Iacobus, he worked for a local Surtovian Lord encroaching on the Rogarvian land. We always had friendly relations and helped each other out when required. But this day was different, he wasn’t alone, he had a hunting party with him, including the young lordling. That man had no respect for nature or animals and butchered without thought. I stupidly pointed that out and refused to apologise, when he demanded it. That let to a fight, which I won and with wounded pride he swore that he would ride me of his lands. Somehow it came to the knowledge of Origen, who arrived at my parents’ cottage and suggested that I should travel with him. At first my parents wasn’t sure, but I still have this feeling that my father knew him and trusted him and so I left.

The years went by and together we travelled the borderland, helping where needed. Origen used our travels to educate me in the ways of the order. His most important lecture was not everyone is persuaded by reason the first time and they should have a second time.

Oh… You want to know about some of my travels. Well I will tell you about three events.

The first one happened during the first year of my travels with Origen. We were asked to a village, where the hunters were disappearing. Strangely enough thise who returned had plenty of meat with them home, so there was no sign of displeasure from Erastil. We found the dismembered bodies of the hunters in the forest, torn to pieces by wild animals. It was however a druid who in misguided justice tried to revenge nature. We caught up with her and tried to talk her out of her plan but we failed and she escaped. That wasn’t the last time we encountered her.

Some times the wanderlust struck Origen and one of these times we travelled to the East Sellen River and sailed down the river into the River kingdoms. We hitched a rite with a merchant heading to Caliphas in Ustalav. Also travelling with the merchant was an elven man returning home from having visited Skywatch. Lanliss and I spent many hours on that river talking about what he had experienced near the tower and he educated me on elven society.

When we reached Mivon, we headed north again towards the border. We visited some of hamlets along the way. As we came closer to the border we learned that a couple of them had suffered from bandit raids and all lived in fear of when the next raid would strike. By sheer luck or divine intervention we caught up with them during a raid and managed to help the hamlet fight them off. I succeed in converting one of the raiders, Stichilo, afterwards and he is now a productive member of the community. However their leader Vors escaped lightly wounded missing most of his group.

Origen and I talked much afterwards about what could be done to help this region. We set the course for plains outside of Restov where we were to meet some of the other members of our order, from what I understood from Origen, it was a tradition to meet discussing the events in the past and what further actions might be taken. During the assembly a young woman rose and spoke passionately about the possibility of forming a new country south of the border, apparently the swordlords were issuing charters. Afterwards Origen and I spoke about this opportunity and we decided that I should try and secure a charter.

That however was not an easy thing to do. I travelled to Restov and discovered that many were trying to use this opportunity for various reasons. As I had no connections here, I had to wait like many others. I struck up conversation during these days of waiting with among others Menas, a cleric of Abadar. We talked about our different planes for the land and while they diverged quite a bit from each other, we were still able to take in a civilized manner, even friendly. The one day I was passed a charter when I arrived in the morning from a servant. I do not understand why, but I suspect that Yala might have been involved somehow.

3x3:

Allies x3
Origen the peaceful is my old master, he initiated me into the order. That old geezer always listens and never judges before he has heard both sites of the story a truly remarkable man.
Stichilo, a young man following Vors, when offered mercy he accepted and now works heart to help the community he once raided.
Yala, cleric of Erastil, who suggested and supoorts the idea of a new country south of Brevoy as a mean to protect the border communities.

Acquaintances x3
Menas Lodska, is a cleric of Abadar I met in Restov, while trying to secure a charter. He is an honest man and while we disagree on many things I respect him.
Iacobus Huntsman, a huntsman in service of Lord Henric Surtova. He respects nature and though I have never asked I am sure he is a green devotee.
Lanliss, an Elven traveller returning home after having visited Skywatch. I learned a great deal from him during our short time together.

Rivals/Enemies x3
Vors the Brute, a leader of bandits terrorizing a group of hamlets on both sides of the border. We fought him and while he got away many of his companions did not. I suspect that he is trying to form a new group.
Annik, is a young Kellid druid who lives in the borderlands and tries to harm anyone who kills animals or destroys nature. She is beautiful and deadly.
Eugeni Surtova is the oldest son of Lord Henric Surtova and stands to inherit his father’s title. He is arrogant and prideful, resolving to violence when his demands are not met. I seem to remember that he was training as a cavalier. It was him that indirectly sent me on my path.
