ROFL you'll have a hard time doing worse than this DM I promise you that

Ragathiel's First 4th Edition Experiance:

I was 16, and lived in Cheyenne Wyoming. IN that town there is very little to do even though its the state capital, and so when my friend Jeremy and I found a local DM that ran DnD we were eager to jump in and play for the first time.

Things were going really well, the guy wasn't the greatest but he was the only guy who was willing to run as a DM in the area of 100 miles where we live, so we ran with it. I ended up making a Dragonborn Great Weapon Fighter, with a greataxe, power attacking, cleaving, the works.

Our first game day, we all sit down, crack open some drinks and we go around the table introducing our characters. Then we get our first quest, to go kill some orcs in a mountain, classic. I made a J.R. Tolkein joke and we all ahd a good alugh about it. Anyways we were going into this cave and the GM turns finally to me and says "Drageric, what do you do?"

I respond with, "I step forwards and keep my axe handy in case we are attacked."

the DM looks at his chart, then table, his chart again and then just laughs and says "You fall down a chasm five feet across and die." then he turns to the next person, our Wizard and says "Oh and you Blah Blah you find in the next crack over a skeleton with a note, ruined armor and a magical sword."

The End.

:/

All right thanks everyone I always have LOVED the Dragonborn theyre what got me into 4.0 in the first place but my first experiance with 4e was horrible.

Yeah I'll take the +2 to Con and Str because those are my main stats and I'm going Guardian Build with a Battleaxe so Con would be best as there are several powers in Martial Power that add Con to my Power Damage as well as Strenth. Thanks again everybody.

Ah ok no problem at all what point buy? Im used to pathfinder style with 20, 25 etc but 4.0 is weird with 22 24 and 28. which one would u prefer me to use?

I am having trouble deciding which to be for race. Dragonborn or Human. what would you personally suggest DM?

Sorry for not posting sooner this is Raventhorn's brother. My landline and laptop are suffering serious problems and school is the only oppertunity I have to get on a computer. I am looking at playing either a Human or Dragonborn Fighter or Paladin.

Couple changes to Grigori really quick, changing up the attributes and skills a bit, re-crunch up soon, altering his fighter class to the archetype "Brawler" and replacing "Catch off Guard" with "Improved Unnarmed Strike" I hope that's all right by you DM?

I just have to add, from reading above, he doesn't really want EVIL characters. In this situation I believe that CN is the best alignment but that's just me.

For the character, Grigori is a Chelaxian born, but not loyalty bound to in any way, street rat kid when he started off. He was an orphan, rather small, and thus was picked on relentlessly changing one trait to Bullied Grigori grew up without much love, taking whatever jobs he could get but always training and making himself stronger until no one would dare bully him again. Now, as a young hulking adult, he would be content taking on the role of a bodyguard or hired muscle, but he detests the idea of beating people to a pulp for no reason. He is by no means a saint, his life has shown him the weakness of virtue and honor and he fights hard and very dirty, but due to his background, he detests having to thrash someone simply because. He'll gladly do it for the right reason, or pay, and he deeply enjoys physical brawls, training and conditioning his body to be an expert at hand-to-hand fighting.

For his appearance, Grigori is not a handsome bloke by any means, but he is also nowhere near ugly or repulsive. He knows how to assert his nature as a thug and is an expert at intimidating others. His hair is cut close to his skull, and a huge scar twists the left side of his face, hooking around his eye beneath his brow and arching down raggedly through his cheek and jaw. He also sports a thick but short beard, and speaks in a very chopped language when he does choose to speak. For clothing, he wears thick coverings year round, and paints his breastplate, gauntlets and boots black to conceal he is actually wearing armor with clothes worn over them. At first glance he would appear chunky but underneath all that cloth is hard and unrelenting muscle as well as two fists that strike with the force of hammer blows. He also takes to having a large fur hat in the winter, and also carries with him a small assortment of disguise tools as he has learned the art of disguising himself well. He even seems to take a small level of pleasure out of it, trying to come up with new and believable costumes that even a close friend, if he ever had one, would be hard to recognize. His most recent and convincing one is masquerading as an old crippled war veteran, but in times he cannot easily don such a cover, he also carries a full, face-concealing mask.

He owes loyalty to the person he likes the best and pays him the most, and in terms of starting a gang, he is as ecstatic as he ever is at the prospect, meaning he probably even smiles occasionally at the idea. He has small street cred as a fist fighter but he wants to go down in the city as the toughest brawler in the country, so he takes personal challenges very seriously, but has no time for taunts by lesser-bodied men and women about his lack of cultured intelligence unless they choose to back up their words with their fists. He also as a point of personal choice refuses to fight any kind of Monk, holding them at a sort of prestige for their mastery of the martial arts and would feel sluggish and stupid beside their agility and grace. If one challenged him, he would probably do his best to avoid getting into a brawl, but if he has no other choice he will do his best to not let the monk turn into someone like him.

Grigori's personal attitude is very direct and blunt, just like his fists or his face. He has a small level of self-contempt at least in the regard of not wanting others to become like him. He loves what he does, but does his best also to dissuade people from trying to emulate him, especially children.

That's all I got for now, looking forwards to breaking heads should I be in.

I already have a good idea of what I'd like to play, trying to class as the Meatshield as a Rogue, Fighter :) if that's ok. I'll have the crunch up soon.

Ye4ah you go to your profile and set Bardolin as your default alias

Hey guys, if you are interested, one of my other games is looking for some additional players, especially you Borum :) heres the link in case you were interested Infinite Watery Grave Recruitment

Discussion:
this is a yes from me, I really like DSX as a player as well as a DM and I really like the idea of a Songhealer in the party. Bard's i have discvered are so useful in this game it's not even funny for their knowledge bonuses and such. I play a cohort Halfling COurt Bard archetype for my RL Kingmaker group and even though every one at the table thinks his character is a retard they always want him around for a knowledge check or to heal their butts after tangling with a big baddie :P also Satire is USEFUL! Minuses to enemy attacks and damages, pour points into Linguistics and its hella useful! "Your mother was a hamster and your father smells of elder berries!" Troll misses killing the Rogue because he is so shocked by the little Halfling insulting him. roflmao XD anyways, definitely Yes on the Bard :)

Hey Galahad, just a quick question, what is Threatening Defender? Sounds neat :)

Discussion Board:
What do you guys think of the new people? I actually kind of like Galahad's characters despite the stat dumping. I kinda wonder if that Waiph guy got pissed or scared off cuz he hasn't posted his resubmissions.

Anyways I was just going to ask the two of you if we should try and vote on Galahad's characters to see which one we'd rather have in the party, assuming Borum accepts the guy :)

Lunar Mage wrote:

Just looked back through the threads, and I don't see anything specifically saying barbarians aren't allowed in this campaign. Borum did seem on the fence about it in the discussion thread, so a back-up martial entry may be a good idea, DSX. But I liked Tal and Marc quite a bit. Salshar's entry confused me a little bit, but she seems cool too. Just one quite note: I think it's hedonite, not hedonist. Either way, I can't wait to see their stats. ^_^

Looking forward to seeing more characters!! (and getting pretty excited about Serena, my wizard character ^_^)

I also really like Your characters DSX :) the only reason I brought up the barbarian thing was this post Triple B made on the Discussion board, we never did vote on it but this is the post that made me curious if Barbarians were actually allowed...

"Also, when it comes to Barbarians, I want a vote right now, should I allow them? This world emphasizes the civilized world, evil and good, versus the all evil chaos of the savage invaders, orcs, bandits, etc. Barbarians are one of my most tentative classes and while it's fun to play them I believe that they can get way out of hand when it comes to breaking stats. All one has to do in my game is simply dump into str and con, rage and get double over 20's in a matter of "Hulk smash!" I don't think I want to allow them, but what are all of your thoughts?"

We never broached the subject again but with him apparently absent due to a job hunt, best of luck to him, I can't ask him about it again :)

Just to explain what I said earlier ^^

Actually Lunar ^^ I think we three are supposed to post on the gameplay thread of us arriving at the village :) Seems like the perfect oppertunity for Serena to jump into, I have to do a bit more on this crap Fafsa but will have Arjhann's intro gameplay post up soon :)

Hey guys:) Im really glad to see you guys submitting!
Just a quick note DsX I don't think he is allowing Barbarians after all, although I can't say for sure, he won't be back for a couple days apparently. :) All of those ideas sound rly good Hu5tru, btw how much money does Rich Parents even give you for a mwk greatsword (350) and mwk breastplate (350?) plus a composite longbow (100+)?

Just curious, because the starting amount of gold on this one was 150.

otherwise really looking forwards to more characters in the party :) I am playing a Half-Dragon Fighter ^^ yays! *personal small victory dance*

Discussion Board:
I'm gonna have to go with Raventhorn on this one and not just cuz he's my brother, even though he brings up the same points I was going to. The guy seems ok really and I wouldn't mind him resubmitting different ideas though, under the specifications. Really it is up to Borum. Anyways that's my vote :(

I am not much good at map-making, but my brother is pretty good at it. I am sure he can help out :)

A quick question Borum, when it comes to my Draconic lineage, What are Dragons like in this world? Do we use the same dragons as Pathfinder, or do you have Custom dragons? I plan to keep my profile avatar the way it is on account of how much I like PF gold dragons and that I chose a Gold dragon as my dragon parent.

Arjhann the Drakon:

An immense towering figure, Arjhann is a truly massive being. Standing well over the height of most humans and nearly a full dwarf and a half wide, he looms over others. His face is broad and muzzle like, with a heavy set jaw, yellow cat-like eyes and Golden skin covered in scales. Where hair should be on the crown of his head are two long black horns that sweep back over his head and cascading mane of braided brown hair. On his chin protrude a collection of chin spikes and whenever he opens his mouth to speak rows of sharp fangs glitter, as well as razor-sharp talons on his huge fists.

Backstory:
Born long ago before the Great War, Arjhann lost his parents in the battles between Angels, Demons Mortals, and the Dragons. For several years, he lived alone, or at least he did until he was adopted at a young age by a hermit wholived far removed from the squabbles of Imperials, Hedonites and the wide world of chaos beyond. The Hermit's name was Edgar Larreu, an aged and tired old warrior who had retreated into the mountains after years of fighting to escape. At first, the elderly fighter was hesitant about taking in a half-dragon, but soon got over his trepidation when he realized that beneath the scales and horns, it was only a little boy, alone and afraid in an unforgiving world. With Edgar taking care of and training him, albeit after much pleading, Arjhann grew quickly into a formidable warrior, following Edgar's tenets of moral conduct as best he could. Knowing nothing of the Laws of the civilized world, the Drakon grew up believing that one should always strive to live a good and honorable life, but not allowing things such as Laws to prevent him from helping those in need.

When Edgar passed from this life, Arjhann took over custody of their small cabin for a long time until he realized that he needed more of this life than simple solitude. Thus, the Drakon set out from the mountains, carrying with him his tutors old equipment, a scarred suit of Scale-mail armor, a battle axe and a sword. Now in the current age, Arjhann works as a sell-sword to any who will hire him and whose cause and need is both dire and goodly-aligned. He fights to the best of his ability, and strives always to prove to everyone what Edgar realized long ago. While Arjhann is indeed half-dragon, he is also Half-human.

Out of all of them, I would most like to play Arjhann, because I've always wanted to play a Half-Dragon and this is the first chance i've ever had to even getting to make one :) thank you for that oppertunity, not wanting to sound like a kiss ass, I just really really like Dragons.

Ok I am asking this for my brother would you allow an eagle shaman with a roc companion, he also has no idea why bows are not allowed for duids but thought I should ask this before I tell him about this good looking game :)

Wait...I finally found a recruitment thread that allows Half-Dragons? Even though they're incredible super badass? O.O...

I'd really like to vest a HUGE interest in this, although I feel kinda intimidated by how you're phrasing the baddies...Foreshadowing our epic deaths much?

However, regardless, HUGE interest in this one, will be back on soon with character ideas! Keeping to your guidelines of course.

My need for help in learning is mainly due o the fact that I am probably missing out on a lot of neat feats or class abilities/powers that I can't get access to any other way. I know there is a race that is kinda like Giants with gray skin and such, seen the cover of corebook 2 the big grey guy looks really cool. Anyways...Again, appreciate any help or offers to play :)

And yes, that spoiler describes my first experience with 4.0 playing. The Gm seemed like a really nice guy and we got along great, then I admitted right before we started that I wasn't a big big fan of Watchmen the movie and he didn't react. I asked him why he made my character die on the beginning after the first encounter and just sitting there pissed off and confused, and he told me, quite literally "Sit down, be quiet and just watch, or get out of my house." then he proceeded to go into a monologue about his previous games and bad experiences and I tuned him out. Never played under him again. or 4.0 ever again. I lived in Wyoming at the time, his was the only gaming group I could find anywhere without having to leave the state. This was also 3 years ago when I wasn't old enough to drive so i was stuck.

Again, really appreciate any game offers, I learn best through actually playing :) Thanks Spiral_Ninja but PBP are the only thing I have besides a rather crappy RL Kingmaker game. Only RL game I have so I can't even drop it. ANYWAYS thanks a lot everyone whose responded so far :)

Hello anyone who reads this, please do not boo me out for posting this on here, but I have no other place to ask in RL so i must resort to here.

Would anyone be willing to teach me how to play 4.0 and possibly recruit me or start a game of 4.0 that I could actually play in? I have never been able to play 4.0 and have always wanted to, if only to be able to play as a Dragonborn, which rule in my mind. Ultimate Race to me, wish there was an race in Pathfinder playable...anyways... My one and only experiance in 4.0 is as follows

Creation: Level 1 Dragonborn Fighter, first time EVER playing
Story: A many-part home campaign with an awesome party
Setting: An icy cave deep in the mountains

Gameplay:

GM "All right gang, you set forth into the perilous cave. Dragonborn Fighter, what do you do?"

me thinking Oh man this is gonna be so cool "I step forwards and keep my weapon drawn in case any beasties are lurking about. What do I roll to look around for them?"

GM: "No need for that, you step onto this square, fall down a crevice, and die."

Me: "Why? Can't I just not step on the huge crevise and not die?"

GM: "Nope, sucks to be you. Eladrin Wizard! What do you do? Oh you step forwards onto a different crack? You discover an entombed warrior long frozen...

Again, I would really really appreciate anyone willing to teach me, as I have no way of getting access to a book beyond the first corebook and Martial Prowess. I have a quick, easy creation character generator on my comp but only with those two books on it, and its infuriating to me to have such an awesome character design or two and being unable to play the edition they star in :(

Still here with my Ranger build, sorry it took so long for the submission, still hope to be considered.

I wonder if it would be all right for me to submit a fighter or Lion (Tiger) Shaman for this recruitment thread :) Will have him up in just a bit, my landline computer does not have updated Herolab documents. :) Very interested, will throw a character together I've been wanting to play soon :)

EDIT: quick question, would you be willing to allow the Klar weapon? It's essentially a short sword attached a buckler, available in the Rise of the Runelords Campaign :) If not I will stick with a spiked shield.

Already Excited, looking to Field either a Ranger or Barbarian, unsure on archetypes but will definetly throw around some ideas, will post mine soon and hope to be considered for recruitment :)

EDIT: Barbarian Stats
Str: 14 (+2*) 16
Dex: 12
Con: 14
Int: 10
Wis: 10
Cha: 10

Ranger Stats
Str: 14
Dex: 12 (+2*) 14
Con: 12
Int: 11
Wis: 12
Cha: 10

Both are probably going to be changed quite a bit but for stats thats what I have for either so far :)

My vote is on the 1st Option. While squad battles sounds really cool, I think the prospect is a little new for me at least, plus the aspect of PVP possibilities has never gone well for me in the past. :) Anyways, my vote is on 1

Consider me interested. If you'll read above Nimon, he wants six :) What I gather from what he's saying Nimon is that we are a hero, as per usual, but are allowed a custom leadership feat that allows us a cohort and 3 followers or something like that.

If it were me, being a militaristic and more primitive campaign setting, I'd say that magic would be almost all out the window. Really, that would not be any fun for one of the PC's to run a group of Sorcerers that just point and blast things apart.

I'm stuck on a quandary for either Ranger or Fighter. WHen you say "select weapons" I'd assume you're ruling out weapons and armor not available during that time period, or on that matter, to a tribe of uncivilized "hunter-gatherers" just my take on what the rules are on so are.

Multiple Novels, at least 26 in progress as of right now. Glad to hear they're other writers out there :)

Some of the ideas are just for fun though, so for official, non-copy-righted stuff I've written it comes out to...19 different stories not based on Pathfinder, Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition, and Warhammer (Fantasy and 40K)

Power to everyone currently writing.

I am very interested looking to either be Half-Orc Armored Hulk Barbarian with CG alignment or probably a fighter, most likely either human, dwarf or half-orc, also NG or CG. :)

The Nasty Orc is banned for having a tongue too long for his mouth.

All Monks are Banned!!! muahahahaahahahahahahahaha

Just thought I'd add in my half-orc Armored Hulk Barbarian if he has a place in here. if he does just let me know and Ill have a backstory within the hour of the notice.

Personally i believe, drawing from your research into the insanely broken amounts of damage u can get off doing that, that the Titan Mauler is insanely broken. just a point by me but any game i run won't allow that class.

Thanks GM DSX :) the idea is good but the Foo Dog being unable to talk seems to me to be the perfect trouble. it would literally be labeled as "What is it boy? Woof!" lolz since he can't talk he can't communicate well but as I've seen with Mouse, he doesn't need to speak to get certain messages across to Dresden, also he's a kick@$$ character. i mean to me its "he's a huge fricking dog that can fight monsters. he is Dogasaurus Rex!" lolz

If you would prefer however I did have that Ogre-blooded changeling idea. I know i would get a lot of jokes but I'd be going w the name Malcolm ^^" the idea of balancing your entire nature on a knife's edge of fey and human sounds so cool. its up to you depending on which you'd rather have in the group :)

Well as your Foo Dog companion, I would prefer the Sidhe :) glamor is a weapon in itself and plus when i think of Faeries i think of the hot chick with the aura of Glamour. in this case its the hot chick with Glamour and a huge dog :P

Actually Foo Dogs cannot speak, they are simply incredibly intelligent dogs with the kickbutt ability to fight creatures of darkness. :) In fact, that's even going to be part of my trouble aspect. "What is it boy? Woof"

Ok so "Master" what is my totally awesome Foo DOg name?!

WOOF!!! *wags tail!*

Pretty much a Foo Dog, or Temple Dog, Aria, is a REALLY big dog that can fight creatures from the Never-Never as well as Vampires and the order of the Blackened Denarius. their bite is like a knight of the cross' holy fire :) also theyre really really big, fuzzy and adorable!

^^ and whoever is my master gets to name me!

Hey this is Raventhorn's bro. I am pretty interested in this game but I don't know how to play, even more of a noob than my bro lolz, but if ur willing to take me on and teach me the basics i am interested.

So far, the three things i'd most like to be are an Ogre-blooded changeling, an emissary of power of a Dragon, or a Foo Dog :P the dog option is entirely up to you, but Mouse is my favorite character in the Dresden files, so i just thought i'd ask. anyways :) rly interested, just a serious noob. willing to learn tho

Ok so we know what isn't allowed class-wise, no problems on those so far. Are there any other restrictions, such as races or reasoning for taking an Exotic Weapon Proficiency? I've seen other dm's say that b4 or played under some that for example said "Must receive training in game to use an Exotic weapon or Prestige class".

Cool?

Is it from Ultimate combat? Just curious never heard of Master Cavalier
Sorry, bad link there:Try this.

Well Looks cool but again if its from UC I don't think Gm will allow luck though

About the favored class option, i chose the 1/4 addition to the eidolon's evolution pool from being Half-elf (Advanced Player's Guide). Also Resilient Eidolon merely allows the Eidolon to maintain corporeality in the material plane if the summoner falls unconscious or asleep for i believe either 4 rounds or equal to its Con mod

Forgot to add tratits

Rostlander (campaign trait) and Focused Mind (+2 on Concentration Checks)

Very interested in joining the online game with my older brother. Never tried it before but have experience story-boarding (trying to be a writer) so perfect for me.

Backstory:

Spoiler:
The bastard son of a Rostlander farmer and an elven maiden, Zayne was separated from his family due to family tension on both sides at a very young age. On his father's side, from who he had inherited his blue eyes and curly brown hair, humans did not see him on the same level, more as a half-breed, and on his mother's side, who 'gifted' to him her lithe form, slanted eyes and slim build, the discrimination was, if possible, even worse. Fortunately for Zayne, a wandering sorcerer took him in when the young boy ran away from the village. For years afterward, Zayne lived with Balthazar, the aged and oft cynical spell caster, in his woodland hut, far away from the hustle and bustle of city, town or elf village life.
Born with a small knack of his mother's racial magic, Balthazar tried to teach Zayne a little of his heritage, but to no real success. His skills in evocation were very poor, he could only perform the meekest of enchantments, and divination spells for Zayne resulted in nothing beyond cloudy water or smudged glass. The only strength Zayne DID possess in the magical arts was conjuration, the ability to summon creatures from different planes. This ability, while its implied complexity gave Balthazar some encouragement that his student was not a TOTAL loss, also made the old human worry. After stumbling upon a magical scroll hidden deeply in Balthazar's private 'study', and memorizing the name etched in what looked like blood, Zayne learned that earlier in the sorcerer's life, he had attempted to summon a very powerful outsider to disastrous results, and the only thing that had saved his life was to seal the beast in the scroll, never to be summoned in fear of its power and unpredictable fury.
Balthazar, being the old crotchety goat of a man that he was, was none too pleased to have his student poking through his things and sent Zayne off into the woods to 'fetch a healthy stag for supper' knowing the boy's ineptitude in hunting. Zayne was gone for hours, and would have been lost in the forest if not for his time exploring the area around Balthazar's hut in the past years and familiarizing himself with nature. Around dusk, incredibly tired and bad-tempered at the "old goat's sadism in sending a lad off alone to hunt what he could never catch" Zayne spotted smoke rising above the trees from where he knew the hut to be. Racing home, Zayne was horrified to discover bandits had found his home. Inside of the burning hut, Balthazar was already dead, and his precious scrolls, tomes and lifelong possessions were burning to ash.
In a rage, Zayne charged the bandits with a branch in hand but, due to his youth and non-too-physically built frame, he was quickly defeated. Just before the bandit stabbed him in the heart, Zayne cried out the name he had read on Balthazar's scroll. He did not care for the imprecations, all he wanted was revenge on the bandits. Time then seemed to slow as Zayne felt a great rush of energy and the blazing cabin behind the group of bandits erupted into an even greater inferno. A voice blazed inside Zayne's head, demanding the answer to a simple question, would he accept the brand of Drakor in exchange for revenge and the power of the beast imprisoned within the scroll.
Zayne agreed without question, and the next thing he saw was the fiery building growing in heat and flame even more and from the fire stepped forth a truly monstrous creature, a bipedal dragon monster with gleaming tuck-like fangs, scaled skin the color of fire and blood, and hulking taloned arms that scattered bandits, trees and stones like straw in a gale. Drakor tore the cowering, scorched bandits apart in bloody abandon, while Zayne looked on in fascinated horror, even as a fiery draconic brand burned itself across the entire right side of his face, the mark of the summoner.
After the 'battle' Drakor then turned upon Zayne, who at first feared that it would slay him too. He was surprised to instead hear Drakor address him as "Master", from that moment on sealing their entwined fates together. Since then, the two have wandered across the Rostlander plains, until Zayne, hearing of the call for adventurer's to scout the dangerous and unsettled Stolen Lands, set out to find their destinies, Zayne hoping to finally find a place for himself in the world, and Drakor ever at his side, content to serve his master as long as there would be bountiful combat. And in the bandit riddled Stolen Lands, both are sure to find what they seek.

Hello this is Raventhorn's brother thanks for the help we will upload our characters soon we only having a problem doing the show/hide thing to minimize space if someone could let us in on that trick would really help :)
