Calling all prep users. There was information that was deleted by someone that didn't realize they were deleting directly from the shared drive.
They have cleared their deleted folder and the information has been lost as it was not in the backups that were created.
I am working with a friend to create a dedicated website for this as this is the 2nd occurrence of information being lost.
The list is quite long and quite honestly would take hours to write out. Needless to say, if you can look at the details and the long list of what was removed and replace any of it, it would be much appreciated.
**If anyone knows of a free webhosting idea or would be willing to help create a dedicated website and make it functional please email me or PM me here, any and all help is appreciated.
Hrmm ... let's play the game "Guess which nights the bunny is out drinking"
Thursday 7:30 AM - 3:45 PM: Marshal

Who is the one coordinating the gameday? I would talk to them and see what you can work out ... seems like there are tons of good options, just a matter of finding the one that works for you and your Gran

Wasn't mis-applying and that's not the one I'm thinking of ... though yours did link to the one I was thinking of... so I wasn't miss-applying anything... The real thread
I think this is more of a corner case, it it kinda falls in with what Mike was saying, however, there are a couple of twists that could say other wise ...
Hrm.. Well, I'm not too worried about the core, I'm just worried about being able to handle what I need to and ready for anything. Would taking a laptop/tablet work if you had access to the PDF's? Or do you HAVE to use the physical books?
PDFS are the super easy way to go .. in my opinion
I thought there was a huge dust-up awhile back about this, and basically it was stated that if the event was posted on the Paizo website and listed as open, it had to be inclusive... I don't believe that that would hold muster to something being in someone's private home or listed as a game on another site.
I believe (if I remember right) that Mike stated that if you were holding a game in your home that you could invite anyone you wanted or not invite those you didn't. Keeping in mind that this was in reference to it being a private game at that point and not a public one.
Without knowing specific circumstances past what we were told...
Who says that you have to use the local meet-up group? the VC so that he can keep track of the games played in his area? In my opinion that is overstepping the boundaries of a VO position to insert public practices into a private home setting.
I personally would suggest making your own meet-up site, the VO can be part of it if he wants to keep tabs on it. But then you can deny people that you don't want in your home.
You'll need to make sure that you have the books that are needed for the things that your character uses.
If you have 4 books that you've pulled info from, those are the 4 books you'll need to take with you.
Alternatively, if you have the books in pdf format, you can print out just the pages you need and put those in the binder with the character.
**the rationale for this is that the onus for providing the information should the GM have a question falls to the player. If the player doesn't have the reference and the GM doesn't, there is no way to make an at the table ruling on how the character's "shiny" works.

Remember guys, qualifying for 5 stars doesn't mean you automatically get a 5th star. Mike Brock has to approve and award you the star.
I don't think anyone has been disputing that fact
Awesome list and tons of research on with getting all the information sorted. Nice to see all the dedicated volunteers
Succeeding on check is kind of going to be up to the individual GM as there is no precedence for pets aiding on skill checks, only familiars. Be sure to talk to the GM before hand, but don't be disappointed if he/she says no. Just fair warning.
Not saying that you can't use it as part of the role-play aspect :)
mmmm Gnomes like cookies
There are no spells for familiars ... There are certain classes that can have them (i.e. wizard and witch) otherwise you'd want to buy the animal from the equipment list and then you'd have a fun pet, but it wouldn't be an animal companion.
Lol ... another hook for us 5 Stars lol... *sigh* guess I'd better do some more prep work

Patrick, in all honesty ... I get where you're at. I really do. And I get what you're saying. Please allow me to interject that I think you're reacting a bit strongly over something that really honestly isn't that big of a deal.
Personally I'm going to go to lunch and forget this thread exists. My excitement over something new has been dampened.

*shrug* again GMs need to know their limitations.
but that's my opinion, not going to continuously argue my opinion with people

Lets ask Doug how many conventions he sat at with Midnight Mauler and ran it for the whole convention ... I know of a few in there lol
Burnout happens no matter the scenario ... at that point it's more a matter of the GM recognizing their limits and being able to say "no" I need a weekend off.
I get that people have concerns over various portions of this, or may be disappointed due to various portions ... however, can we please just have a day or maybe two to be grateful that we got a kick-butt boon (regardless of what you think about it) and that there is an exclusive (no matter the form).
I shudder to think of what could happen when Mike and John get tired of trying to give us things and due to all the complaints decide that we don't need anything.

Lol ... I won't be able to make Paizocon this year ... but I'll be at Gencon ... then trying for Gamicon next year ... maybe Paizocon next year ... I dunno ... vacation is a pain
Gms should be doing it either to be honest ... but what they do and then don't tell us about we can't police ... what is said on the boards is policable by the community.
cherry picking scenarios for what is on the chronicle is frown upon.. close to if not "nasty ch word here"... don't do it... or at least don't post on the boards about it ...
Hey guys ... I understand that this is the GM section of the boards, however, we all know GMs aren't the only ones that read these threads...
In that vein please remember that it has been frowned upon (and in some instances had that nasty "ch" word applied to it) to cherry pick scenarios based on items available on the chronicle .. I've also asked for spoiler tags to be added so people can avoid the spoilers if they wish
I've made a comment over the past few months that I think holds bearing in this thread...
The comment is that it is hard for me to sit down and play because as a GM I've learned to lose... I don't know how to "win" as a player anymore. I sit down at a table as a player and when we get to combat, my mental process is how can I lose this (I'm getting better at that tho I swear).
Welcome to you and your group.
The best suggestion would be to visit the products page and download the free guide. In the back of that guide is a list of all the Venture Officers. Find the one closest to you and give them an email. They should be able to help you find a GM in your area, or perhaps point you do a gameday in your area.

Basically WF2013 was a bit of a cluster for various reasons. We told the management all the concerns we had (both before and after the con) and were summarily dismissed as being wrong. So basically nobody was interested in going again this year. I'm speaking for many of the folks in Indiana, not Paizo.
I think this basically sums it up ... For me last year it was a communication issue ... This year was because I just couldn't make it, instead chose another con that had more of a PFS focus and not a DnD focus.
