History:There are bastards, cast off embarrassments of illicit infidelity made flesh, and then there are Bastards, lucky lads or lasses who while not legitimate, are at least provided for and sometimes even given a place in a heirachy of sorts.

Nedyr Orlovsky was the latter sort. His mother, Trynatha Shadowhawk, was an elven beauty and the mistress of one Nordyr Orlovsky. Theirs was a relationship of great passion and great affection, perhaps even bordering on love, but both knew and accepted that marriage was out of the question. That recognition did not stop the birth of Nedyr however. Rather than spurn his half elven bastard, however, Nordyr saw to the boy's needs. Even when Nedyr's father finally had to marry a human woman (A lovely lady name of Shaylane), he took Nedyr in as a ward to be raised by his soon to be born half siblings.

As a half elf, Nedyr may have been born first, but he aged slower than his kin, meaning he became more like an annoying younger cousin than an older half brother to them. While the legitimate offspring had duties thrust upon them, Nedyr found time to sneak about hallways nosing into things, and find all sorts of mischief. He got along surprisingly well with his father's wife, who was pragmatic enough not to hold any grudges for what transpired before her wedding, and knew that Nedyr was not the true heir to the family's fortune. Still, it was decided Nedyr needed a bit of focus. Numerous tutors came in to educate the young man, most of bored him to tears. One dueling instructor did manage to teach him at least a little discipline, though the lad remained a free spirit for the most part, and often slummed about with 'friends' his family found more than a bit shady.

Nedyr might have remained a lovable wastrel, if he had not overheard a conversation between his half brother Mikaal and his father regarding the fate of the family. Politics were growing ever more tense in Brevoy, and with risk of Civil War, perhaps it would be best to look into establishing family influence in the River Kingdoms. An opportunity to do so had just come up, but Nordyr was reluctant to risk Mikaal or his sister.

"I'd send Nedyr," Nordyr told Mikaal, unaware that his other son was nearby, "But really, while I love him, he's rather frivolous. He's never done a productive thing in his life and likely never will."

The off hand remark stung the bastard as hard as any slap in the face might have. Mikaal reluctantly agreeing made it worse.

Nedyr went off to stew quietly, pacing the ledges of the family estate and grumbling on its roof top. Finally, he resolved to prove his father wrong. To his sire's surprise, Nedyr volunteered to head south on this little mission, though he was running late to be sure.

His father seemed unsure, but eventually granted Nedyr's request.

And so it was that Nedyr went to the Stolen Lands...
and having no woodland skills what so ever, found himself hopelessly lost!

Personality: Nedyr may seem shallow to some, but the whimsical fellow has a good heart. He loves his luxuries, but can be generous to the down on their luck. He shudders at the thought of chores and duties, and yet may go out of his way and work very hard to set a wrong right. He may flatter and flirt with women, but also listens to them as equals and desists if he feels it would make them uncomfortable or might ruin a possible friendship.
