About Natalyah Melethiell
-Appearence-
Standing just short of 5"8 and weighing 105 lbs makes Natalyah look very thin, near the point of being fragile. She moves gracefully without effort, almost like she’s dancing, with confidence and purpose in her strides. Her clothes looks old and torn, patched in several places, and varies in color between brown and green. The hood of a dark green travellers cloak is usually pulled up over her head, covering her shoulder long brown hair and shadows most of her features.
She has intense and watchful dark brown eyes with a penetrating stare. Natalyah rarely smiles and an overall morose expression over shadows what else would have been perceived as a kind and attractive face.
She keeps two swords on the left side of her back and a longbow with a quiver on her right. Natalyah doesn’t appear to wear any jewellery except for a silver locket with a half moon engraved on the front.
-Personality-
Growing up in a village where she never got accepted has left its marks on Natalyah. She harbours a strong distrust in strangers, humans in particular and especially male ones. She now feels rather uncomfortable around strange people and seldom spends time in human settlements if she can help it. She prefers the wilderness and its freedom and solitude. Due to her untrusting nature people that encounter her perceive Natalayah as cold and distant, though those that gain her trust will find her to be very warm and caring.
She doesn’t have these uncomfortable feelings towards animals though. “Nature doesn’t judge”, as she puts it herself. She is a devote follower of Gozreh and as long as she can remember she has always felt at home in the wilderness, nursing a strong love and has a feeling of belonging towards it. A love only matched with the hatred she feels towards those who defile and pillage nature. She tries to avoid unnecessary death and killing but won’t hesitate to act if the situation warrants it.
Natalyah is very self confident and she perceives herself as self reliant and capable. She is usually very patient and cool headed unless she’s dealing with something she doesn’t understand, in which case she can get restless and unruly. This combined with her total lack of social skills makes her appear arrogant and at times even rude. She has no time or need (nor understanding) of social codes and diplomacy and expresses herself bluntly and to the point. A conversation with Natalyah can be an uncomfortable and unpleasant experience. She doesn’t however mean to be rude, she just don’t know how not to. She is also bad at handling defeat and failures, and will get very sulky and irritable, snapping at anyone who mentions it or brings up past mishaps. Natalyah has a habit of cursing and muttering to herself in elven when these situations occur.
Natalyah has an easy time relating to the outcast and the underdog and will always help those in need, even though she might not always seem to enthusiastic over it. She has a strong sense of fairness and will not tolerate injustice when she sees it.
She is drawn towards all things elven at an almost infantile level and her most cherished possession is a silver locket that she keeps in a chain around her neck. It belonged to her mother and has a small half moon engraved on the front. Ever since her childhood Natalyah has been very proud of her elven heritage, and it only grew stronger with her alienation from the rest of the village where she grew up as a child. It became her against the world which strengthened her and made herself reliant. This has a rather nasty downside though. She has become very judgemental against other non elven races, almost bordering on racism. She doesn’t hate the other races but she “knows what they are like” and treats them with distrust. In her eyes there are good people in the world, but they are few and far between.
Natalyah has a different reaction to fellow elves. She admires them but doesn’t know how to act among them. She get’s intimidated by their outgoing nature and their joyful manner. She feels inferior and gets very shy and usually curl up inside herself.
Otherwise Natalyah is calm and self confident. She prefers finesse over brute force, stealth over confrontation and calculated planning over hot tempered action.
