It is my distinct pleasure and honor to award the last four Campaign Service Awards of my tenure. Included are two VOs and two non-VOs. VC Chris Hays and VC Andrew Hoskins both are awarded a Campaign Service Awards for not only their awesome duties as VOs organizing and coordinating local and regional game days and conventions, but also for the tremendous talent to create memorable 3d terrain for games they run. I saw examples of both of their works at Gen Con in the last 24 hours and the added care and attention they provide to immerse players at their tables is remarkable. These dioramas and rooms and maps they build into 3d also attracts quite a bit of interest from passerbys that sometimes decide to stay and try quests and the like, thus bringing new players into the fold. If you haven't had a chance to see their amazing skills at terrain building, I encourage you to do a google search. Hopefully someone can post some links to some of these photos. The other two awards I presented tonight are for two people who are not VOs, but that have been instrumental in making 4-5 years of Gen Cons and PaizoCons run smoothly and successfully. Both Tersha Choy and Angus Maclennan work tirelessly behind the scenes and most of the time unnoticed by the player base at large. However, they have been two of my most valuable and appreciated HQ staff at both large conventions, and without them, Gen Con and PaizoCon would not have been as awesome as it has these past few years. Both of these awesome volunteers have given up every minute of their time at Gen Con and PaizoCon the last 4-5 years to devote solely to PFS HQ to make sure all attendees have the best experience possible. I am going to miss working with both tremendously. All four of the awesome volunteers above have taken steps to foster growth and community cohesion in their own ways. They make my job easier and I thank them for that from the bottom of my heart. They are pillars of the community and members of the community that people can look to as an outstanding PFS example. All four have my highest respect and most sincere thank you for all of their work. Without them, PFS would not be where it is today. Congratulations VC Chris Hays! You are now PFS number 747.
As my final official act as the Global Organized Play Coordinator, it is my honor and pleasure in congratulating the 11 newest campaign service award recipients. I was able to award nine of them at the Gen Con special tonight. Martin and Dan were not at the special and I will make sure they receive them before the end of the show. The recipients include: VC Brett Sweeney
These VOs have all served as a campaign volunteer for more than 1,000 days. Their efforts have fostered growth and community cohesion in their respective regions. They make my job easier and I thank them for that. Their PFS Work with large regional conventions and local charities places them as pillars of the community and members of the community that people can look to as an outstanding PFS example. All five have my highest respect and most sincere thank you for all of their work. Without them, PFS would not be where it is today. Congratulations VC Brett Sweeney. You are now PFS number 736!
Bob Jonquet wrote: As I sit here reading Rand's thread, it is a "quiet" moment, if such a thing exists at GenCon to peer out into the Sagamore and ponder how incredibly awesome our community is. This year we have over 300 volunteers help us with PFS from the marshals that seat the players, to the HQ staffers shuffling paperwork, reporting table results, etc to the GMs running games. It is exciting to know sooo many people are willing to give up their personal, most likely limited vacation time in order to make sure other people have a great GenCon. Thank you all for being awesome! From Tersha to Angus, Mildred, Sara, the four HQ leads Lucas, the Scarab folks, the Gipsons, Hayes, and Brummonds, the eastern WA crew, and all the new people added to HQ every year (Ali, Jenny, etc) they all make this show in particular run unbelievably smoothly and tirelessly give up their own show time so everyone else can have fun. I can't name everyone off the top of my head (we've literally had more than 100 people over the years) as I'm very tired right now and have some red ale running through me. But know, if you have now or have ever worn an orange shirt or worked HQ, you have my most heartfelt thank you. You made my job so much more easy and gave me fond memories to last a lifetime! I'm going to miss the chats and hangout times tremendously.
I was sent the list of confirmations about an hour ago. They are all on one spreadsheet. All names are placed with the Marriott. If you have a problem at check in, find me in the Sagamore Ballroom. I will have the list of all 65 confirmation numbers with me. However, all tier 1 and 2 volunteers appear on the sheet and should be set with their hotel rooms. Thanks again for all of your help and looking forward to seeing you all this weekend.

Yes, I misread. See my above post.

Sorry I misread that then. As long as they haven't played the character at all since before last Gen Con, then yes, they can change from one of the nation based factions to one of the ideal based.
Chris Mortika wrote:
The factions didn't change, they remained the same. Therefore, there was no reason to offer a free faction change,

Good thing we will have some at HQ for the player base then! Thanks for the effort Chris. We've got you covered!

Contact Gen Con customer service since you should be able to.
UndeadMitch wrote: Is there any word on the hotel situation for Tier 1/2 volunteers? Hotel is at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown, across the street from the ICC. Gen Con has all of your names. As soon as they send the confirmation numbers in emails, I will forward those to tier 1/2 volunteers straight away.
We will have copies of Chronicle sheets and tracking sheets that will be distributed to all GMs. We will also have copies of the pregenerated characters available. If you can't print your own, it would be appreciated but certainly not necessary. And you will be a super GM at Gen Con. I have every confidence in that!

Sounds good to me.
First level characters and their builds are fine since we have rebuild rules in place (BTW, good build there Nefreet). However, 4th and 7th-level versions of these cannot legally be played as official pregens and receive a chronicle sheet, either to be held and applied once your own character reaches that level, nor traded in for 500gp to a new character. A couple of points: 1) Be careful passing these as an official Paizo PDF. They should instead use a custom layout and design.
Please join me in congratulating the five newest campaign service award recipients. The recipients include: VC Karim Majeri
The first three have been VOs for more than 1,000 days. Their efforts have fostered growth and community cohesion in their respective regions. They make my job easier and I thank them for that. Their PFS Work with large regional conventions and local charities places them as pillars of the community and members of the community that people can look to as an outstanding PFS example. The latter two, I sought the advice of VCs David Harrison and Rob Silk as they know their areas better than I. The following are what they had to say about Chris and Gael: "A year ago we lost our Venture Officer, Tonya Woldridge, to Canada and we thought she would be impossible to replace. Chris Brockley-Blatt stepped up to the mark and since then she has developed the organization of events to an exquisite level. You may know that she is a Project Manager for a Space Programme and she bring that same level of perfection to her organization of Pathfinder events. Every detail is covered. It’s rare to have to ask someone to do LESS, but if we didn’t restrain her she would single handedly do the work of our entire Pathfinder Team. We hope that Pathfinder events in the UK appear smooth running, but here’s the secret. It’s only because Chris has fielded all the problems and patched them up so seamlessly that no one even knows the catastrophes have happened. Chris is an especially caring person and looks after her wonderful family as well as doing a very demanding job and running a figure painting business. It’s quite amazing that she finds time to look after our GMs and Players as though they are part of her family, too. Her cooking, baking and GM goodie bags have raised the morale of many a GM."
Without Gaël it couldn’t happen. He built the Bar and Café for the event, offers free camping and he supplies food and the organic mead he makes from local honey. He even roasts a sheep for the Feast on the Saturday Night. Gaël is born and bred Swiss and his mother tongue is French. He is a tireless GM. He puts Pathfinder Society adventures through a Google Translator, checks them, and then runs them in French. He doesn’t hesitate to run games in English and we are delighted to see him regularly GM’ing in the UK, at “Conception” and at “PaizoCon”. He has done wonders for the Entente Cordiale for European Pathfinders. He is a great guy and a very generous Pathfinder person." All five have my highest respect and most sincere thank you for all of their work. Without them, PFS would not be where it is today. Congratulations Karim Majeri. You are now PFS number 731!

It involves mythic monsters trapped in celestial prisons and why the constellations have the shapes they do. The PCs have to capture each and then figure out how to place them back in their prisons. Until they do so, births, deaths, tides, and other time related stuff is wonky and messed up. And it starts in Thuvia. Come on down. I will reserve a seat (and yes, I know Auckland is a bit far) :-)

No one is being discriminated against. As a matter of fact, my HQs at both PaizoCon and Gen Con do everything we can to accommodate physical handicaps by finding space on aisles or table ends or closer to the screen or whatever to make it easy as possible for them to participate. I have a cousin who is handicap and am very cognizant about being inclusive as possible. If someone wants to use 19 books to make a character, they always have the option of purchasing PDFs and placing them on a tablet that weighs 2-3 pounds (or subscribing and receiving free copies of PDFs). People can also choose to not use more than 2-4 books to create a character. It's always a choice and there ar options. Please stop advising that we discrimate. That is the fatherest thing from the truth.

I'm not sure the best way to do that. I still get people assign all the time "How do I join the Pathfinder Society" even though the link is in the middle of that page with white space above and below it. Something with Regional Coordinators. Even though they can be found both on the side links of every page and on the PFS page, people still ask. Do you have suggestions on how to make it more prominent?
I appreciate all of the feedback thus far as it is helpful. One reason we don't just list either everything that is legal or is not legal is that it would increase the size of the overall document, likely to 30-35 pages. So we opted for using whichever list was shorter for each book as it was added. We are working on some things to try to help make it better. Currently, the quickest way to get to Additional Respurces is two clicks. Click the PFS logo in the top let of the website. It takes you to the PFS landing page. On the top right, under Player Resources, you will see a clink for Additional Resources.

I estimate we give away somewhere in the neighborhood of 15,000-20,000 free PDFs every year to both cons and game days as small as 3 tables.
I update Additional Resources every month. I will get this added within the next month, along with the other new releases, just like I do every month. The next update may be delayed a week or two due to PaizoCon and Origins back to back, but it will get done. Most likely timeframe will be a week or two after I get back from Origins.

So it's not nothing. There are still opportunities to have an alternative for races to trickle down, correct? Did you ask the online con organizer to add an additional scenario that you could GM?
