Background:

Being born in the slums offers two things, either you adapt and survive or you end up at the end of another's blade. Bought up by his mother and an unknown number of uncle's that visited after dark, Darc learnt the art of disciple and keeping out of the way, being that exiting through a window and spending the evening on the roof, or climbing down and finding the quiet of the streets. Lter after his 'uncle' had left, Darc would climb back and live the life of a boy. He learned the harshness of life from the special uncle, the one that held sway over his mother's life, the one that would beat her, before leaving the rooms with money. It was strange he was the only man that left with money, the others would leave silver and gold and a smile on their faces.

It was this 'law', that burned into his being, the law of the underbelly of society, a law he adopted, but could never be happy living under. It was this law that led to an unfortunate accident, a deserved accident that happened some 2 years ago. The 'special uncle's' head caved in under his fist far too easily, the way the nose collapsed into the man's brain, left a nasty mess and a sobbing mother. Since then, his mother's life has got a little easier, as she has taken on the help of the other girls, all of whom have helpe Darc grow as man. Even to the extent they offered gold rewards to protect them from their 'paying friends'.

But it was the years before this that in those early days, where his fists were his first weapon, as self-protection, buiding his stregth and muscle, then taken on as a tavern's protector, his talents made the first coppers. His large knuckles, stopped many a fight by placing the protagonists laid out on the floor, sleeping off the excess of drink and lying in thier own pool of blood and sick.

A feared protector at the Red Dragon, it wasn't long before his skills were spotted and put to more profitable use. Taken into training to earn extra money as a ring fighter, not the regulated glaitorial fights, but the rough and bloody fights at the back of an inn. Any money he made, went in either paying for training or medical attention. Those who he worked for seemed to make more than Darc, somethng he still doesn't understand, but it is the life in the underbelly, the law of those who have and those who don't.

Darc, once a proud and exhulted warrior of the Grakn'each Tribe in the Hold of Belkzen, he was left to die on the battlefield of Tuin Bridge after seeking retribution on the humans. The battle had been bloody, like many others Darc had been a part of, but this victory cost him his life, or though so all thought. As he lay there, his life in the vicious yet loving half-orc community had seen him marked at an early age. Listening to the elders and shaman talk about how unusually, there was magic in him, magic from the gods themselves. Almost as if the magical healing provided by the shamans was somehow embelished by Darc himself. Of the charge on the plains of Har'thanj, his painted body and horrific visage led his men against the dwarven trade train, encroaching on the land annexed by Belzen, their deaths were assured. That day his teeth bit the flesh and his mouth tasted the blood of those most hated enemies. That day, such joy, returning back to Garknechen wit the spoils, fine weapons and armour. His name joined in the songs of joyous victory and devastation to their enemies. Such were the good days for Darc, when life consisted of food, fighting and family.

Yet it was when lying, with his own life's blood leaving his body through the gore mess of his wounds. It was the damage done to his right leg that ached, a dull cold feeling that spread from his theigh through his lower torso, its fingers like death grasping the very life from Darc. His mind slipped into the blackness of death's frozen grips, he let himself go to meet his forefathers and fight with them in the everlasting battle of the afterlife. But death did not take him, instead a creature holding a flaming greatsword and black spiked platet armour spoke to him, 'You are favoured for the service you have given me, many times have I tasted the sweet nectar of death, with the sweep of your blade or have sated my appitite with the mashed flesh from your spiked balls of destruction. Return and do me service, do not let me regret my decision to give you the fire of life, return and do homage.' Then the blackness returned.

It was later, how much he didn't know, but his eyes flickered open in strange surroundings, of stone and cold and cleanliness. His mind heard chants, of strange music fo the sounds of footsteps. He was with his enemy, with humans. And so the third chapter of Darc's life started. Which has culminated with joining this disparate group of adventurers, so his next chapter begins.
