Event organized by Paizo Game

Reapers of Reputation

Friday afternoon, 2:00–6:00 pm, 2015 • Cascade 10

Quell the loose-lipped and careless souls who may reveal too much! Worshipers of Norgorber, your next mark has been assigned. Work together with a team of other Norgorberites to quash an aristocrat who knows more than he should. Will you silence your target without question, or, perhaps, seek to gain his secrets for yourself? This adventure pits a team of shadowy operatives against a resourceful, well-prepared foe. Emphasizing teamwork and roleplay, each operative might have her own way of getting the job done, but they will need to somehow work together to accomplish their mission.

8th level PCs; 20 point buy; standard wealth by level (33k gp). Allowed source books: CRB, APG, UM, UCombat (no firearms), ACG, Champions of Corruption, Faiths of Corruption. Pre-gen characters available.

Hi, everyone! Here's a link to the event if you're getting here through the forums directly.

I'm really excited to be running this game, and I'm happy to answer questions if you have them.

Would I be correct in assuming our characters could be of an evil alignment and employ options that would not be allowed in PFS play (i.e., the assassin PrC, all the poisons, etc.)? As long as we stick to your listed source books, of course.

Also, very excited and so looking forward to this game!

That is correct. You are not restricted to PFS-legal options.

As a point of reference, the pre-gen characters will be skilled and capable but not min-maxed for any particular thing. Their emphasis will be more on a consistent theme of how they prefer to get things done as an operative. My original idea for the game was mechanical difficulty that is involved-but-not-brutal, and where a lot of the conflict comes from conflicting interests within the party itself that must be balanced with achieving the goal.

Of course, I will do my best to take cues from and accommodate each player's style of play. My goal is to make the game fun for everyone, and if you all want to talk it out and settle on a particular approach I will be happy to run with that.

I'm glad to see some excitement brewing! I'm really looking forward to it, as well. I'm happy to answer any other questions if people have them.

Hey, everyone. I realized just now that I did not include Ultimate Equipment in my list of allowed resources. Please consider that book in the list of allowed resources (minus firearms). Hopefully that does not inconvenience anyone.

If you have interest in other specific rules or options from books not listed in the event description, please do feel free to ask. No promises on their admission, though.

It sounds as if this could be more interesting if we play your pre-gens, yes?

The pre-gens will certainly be built to fit the theme of the game, and the pre-gens do give blatant opportunities to inject personality into the mission. That said, I don't think the game would be less interesting if the pre-gens aren't used. Any characters that have been given some thought about what their personal goals are and how that plays into their employment with the temple of Norgorber have the same opportunities that the pre-gens will.

As an example, here's my take on one of the pregens:

Spoiler:

He's an Urban Barbarian who, unlike the typical Norgorberite, prefers direct action over subtlety. His personal goal is to indulge his bloodlust, but he doesn't enjoy wanton murder; he has to feel there is some justification, regardless of what that reason might be. The temple of Norgorber provides him with enough justification and plenty of resources to enjoy a relatively consequence-free life.

He doesn't like to wear masks, instead relying on his skill and trusty Hat of Disguise to change his appearance after each mission. He is fond of shock-and-awe tactics, often choosing to simply burst into a place, obliterate his mark, and then retreat into a new identity. Although impatient, he's not stupid or foolish, and he'll entertain more involved battle tactics.

Even if all the characters have the same goals (maybe they are dedicated Norgorberites who truly just care about silencing those who know too much), I think there would still be ample opportunity to cause complications for the group.

In summary, I would say that if you want to make a character there won't be anything lost for doing so. If you want to take one of the pre-gens for a spin, I'll have done my best to build some interesting foundation.

That was a bit long-winded, but I hope it answered your question.

Hi,

I'm really looking forward to this event, just thought I'd check in and let you know I'll probably be bringing a Inquisitor of some sort.

One quick question: number of traits can vary by GM, do we get any for free (2 is common) or do we need the additional traits feat if we want any?

Thanks for checking in!

2 is a perfectly acceptable number of traits, and I'm also OK with taking traits from Ultimate Campaign

Looking forward to a great game tomorrow!
