Lost in the Labyrinth

Thursday, December 19, 2013

This month's volume of the Wrath of the Righteous Adventure Path comes from the mighty Wolfgang Baur! Herald of the Ivory Labyrinth pits the heroes of Kenabres against more demonic forces as they journey once again into the Abyss. This time the PCs take the fight against Baphomet's cultists to their front door as they siege the Ivory Labyrinth to rescue the herald of Iomedae. At this point in the Adventure Path, the PCs are going to the highest level that we've ever had in a volume of the Pathfinder Adventure Path, and this adventure shows it with its encounters. If you're playing in this campaign, good luck. If you're running this campaign, keep your hyena-like laughter to a minimum—that's just rubbing salt in the wound. I'll leave you with a few pieces of art to whet your appetite until you can get your hands on Pathfinder #77: Herald of the Ivory Labyrinth!

One of these days I'll pick these up.

That is a lot of swords.

3 people marked this as a favorite.

It's not hyena-like laughter.

It's dastardly villain laughter.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've maidens to tie to the train tracks while cackling.

So thats Paizos take on Mythic play? More Arms (= more attacks per round)? I had hoped for more... I hate this syndrom. Most of the time it means: whoever got to make his first full attack kills the opposition.

Even a nice DR (not that laughable tiny DR most monsters got in Mythic Adventures) would have made some enemies tougher and battle more than:Full attack - you´re dead.

The artwork of the first two pictures is not beautiful. Picture 3 is great.

*wheezy snicker*

Really? I couldn't disagree more. The twin marilith manages to have the "two creatures visibly fused together" without looking horribly deformed, and the minotaur just looks cool. The ghoul is no less awesome looking, admittedly, though it's less interesting.

Dark Archive

Is that a Marilith with 2 heads and 12 arms? For when 6 attacks a round just won't cut it?

I think the marilith is Inaliningo (Demons Revisited).

EDIT: oops, I forgot to read the picture's name. It seems to be another double-marilith

The pictures look awesome.

The minotaur's artwork may have a little bit of a rough look to it but oh wow I want to fight that thing.

My group just finished the World Wound Incursion and are proceeding to Sword of Valor, and I'm greatly pleased. The campaign definitely taxes player and DM creativity, though, since you have to keep track of multiple highly-intricate NPCs and their interpersonal dynamics. But if you can, it definitely is satisfying on a level that RotRL isn't.

I have to say that anyone that complains about it being nothing but a dungeon crawl doesn't know how to roleplay.

Has there been anyone doing that? Not that I've noticed, and I've read every thread on this AP so far (since I'm GM'ing it). Could of course be that I tuned out at a particular topic...

Anyway, the roleplaying aspect so far is excellent for module one and two, but I think module three falls a bit down. Although it introduces Arueshalae and that has some excellent potential. No idea about module four yet, since the shipping is going horribly slow for the third month in a row.

Here I was, believing finally a demon from mythology entered the bestiary... but no its not the cool disease demon Aerico, its another ghoul... So close! :-p

The other pictures/creatures are awesome! Demontaur Diablo?

The Ghoul-thing pictures is also cool, you can use it as Aerico.

"I'm going to stab you"
"With what sword? Oh... S$+@"

PS - And I didn't mean to imply that I didn't like the minotaur artwork, I think it looks great. It just doesn't have the "polished" look of most things we see from Paizo. I still very much look forward to going toe-to-toe with it with my Bloodrager!

Can't wait to see what kind of things Baphomet can pull off.
