Register Now for Pathfinder Society Events at Gen Con Indy!

Monday, May 20, 2013

Event registration for Gen Con Indy is open to the public! That means that the over 100 unique Pathfinder Society events Paizo will be offering throughout the convention are already starting to sell out, so don't hesitate to get your tickets now. We expect this to be the largest Pathfinder Society showing at Gen Con to date, and you won't want to miss out on the action!

Gen Con will see the launch of Season 5 of Pathfinder Society Organized Play—the Year of the Demon! Three new scenarios will run throughout the show, pitting Pathfinders against the faithful of Razmir, the demons of the Worldwound, and the political machinations of Absalom's ruling council. We'll also be offering the first two levels of Lead Designer Jason Bulmahn's Ruins of Bonekeep megadungeon, which are specifically designed to challenge even the most ambitious Pathfinder characters with truly deadly combats, traps, and puzzles. As if that weren't enough, on Friday night, over 1,000 Pathfinder Society members will participate in a massive, multi-table event called Siege of the Diamond City, which will place the noble heroes on the front lines of an Abyssal invasion of the crusader capital of Nerosyan, and fill the Indiana Convention Center's cavernous Sagamore Ballroom.

We'll also be offering non-Pathfinder Society events throughout the convention, including:

  • Seminars with Paizo's creative staff and management about forthcoming products, the future of the company, and some in-depth looks at the workings of the Pathfinder RPG.
  • Demos of the new Pathfinder Adventure Card Game.
  • Pathfinder RPG Beginner Box demos to introduce new players to the world of roleplaying (including new adventures never before offered for Beginner Box characters of 3rd level!).
  • A robust kids' track, allowing parents to play the Pathfinder RPG alongside their children in a safe and educational environment.
  • A silent auction running throughout the convention, the proceeds of which will benefit the Gen Con Indy 2013 charity, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana, offering both in- and out-of-character prizes.

Check back here every Monday for more on the Pathfinder Society Organized Play campaign, including revelations about the end of Season 4, the Year of the Risen Rune, and the start of Season 5. But before you set your reminder for next week, reserve your spot in the Gen Con 2013 event(s) of your choice and prepare for the Best Four Days in Pathfinder Society Gaming of the year!

Are there plans to eventual publish the Ruins of Bonekeep megadungeon and the "new adventures never before offered for Beginner Box characters of 3rd level"?

Siege of the Diamond City only has 115 seats still available - get 'em while you still can! :)

I registered for a total of 6 PFS events, including the Friday special and both parts of Ruins of Bonekeep (will drop out of part 2 if we advance in the special).

Really looking forward to RoB, I hear it can be extremely challenging!

Unlike last year the special this year will not have a second part that only certain tables will qualify for.

Ok, thanks.

For some reason I had just assumed it would be the case. Although from what I recall, the special from 2011 didn’t have a second night, either.

We do not have any plans to announce at this time. Until such time as we do, Gen Con and other large conventions will be the only places you can play Ruins of Bonekeep.

Playing in your free slots? Craziness!

Hmm, what is being offered on Saturday...

Tier 1 gm'ing and getting in to finally play the special. Awesome. Now next question when you add a ticket to your cart where do you go to check out and pay for the damn thing? It says I've managed to add it but so far it hasn't actually taken me to a place to well pay for it.

Great news on the best 4 days in gaming.
Any idea when the best 3 days of gaming, aka PaizoCon might go online, lottery wise etc?
The best 2 days in gaming, aka PaizoCon UK seems to be ticking along quite nicely ;)

PS that logo would make a great T shirt.
Just saying...,

Keep bringing the awesome! :)

I keep trying to buy a ticket but for some reason my card keeps getting denied! So Frustrating!

Wait, so will we be able to complete the Pathfinder mission in Bone Keep, which I assume is to kill the villain revealed in Day of the Demon? Or will we only be able to get part of the way to said villain? The only reason I want to play Bonekeep is because of the PFS story line in it, if I can't complete it, I probably won't risk my character's life.

If tickets for the special sell out, will Paizo seat any more tables, or are we just out of luck?

There is always risk to die in any of the scenarios (I’ve died twice), but especially more so in Ruins of Bonekeep. I have not seen specific info on the scenario, but from what I read it is not uncommon for 1 or 2 characters dying.

So if you want to be more careful with your character and have more assurance of not dying, you may not want Ruins of Bonekeep.

But that being said, I don’t want to discourage anyone from trying it because it sounds like a lot of fun! There is an option to back out anytime during the scenario (except in combat) if things are becoming too hairy for you.

Is it already sold out? I know in previous years Paizo has added tables, especially for the large special events, so you may be ok. But if you want to try RoB, I would buy tickets now if they are still available. You can always change your mind later and get your money back/credit.

One last thing, please spoiler from now on in regards to story related issues for scenarios, I did not know that

Spoiler:
Day of the Demon
was linked with Ruins of Bonekeep.

Once tickets sell out, every seat in the Sagamore is filled, and we won't be able to seat anymore tables.

With that said, as of right now, there are 58 tickets remaining for the Special, 308 tickets remaining for RoB part 1, and 219 tickets remaining for RoB part 2.

I don't see how that spoiled anything for you. Did knowing that Quest for Perfection Part One was linked with Quest for Perfection Part Three make the adventures less fun for you?

I originally was going to skip bonekeep, but story information my character learned means he basically has to go and take care of the Bonekeep stuff. But if that's not actually a possibility, because there are 48 more levels that have to be released before that can occur, I would like to know upfront.

There are currently four levels planned for Bonekeep.

Is your character locked into bonekeep once they start it, or can they play other scenarios in between?

No worries, not upset at all.

villain first experienced in Day of the Demon will carry over to Ruins of Bonekeep

Like I said though, not upset, just please watch spoilers like that from now on. :)

Actually, you read more into my post than was actually there. Also formating for spoilers, or just about anything on these boards confuses me.

I'd wait for the answer to your questions before buying tickets. There are still lots of tickets for Bonekeep 1 + 2 (220 and 308 respectively), so there's no rush.

I'm not sure if Bonekeep is related to Day of the Demon. I'd like to find out!

You could be right. Either way, it’s past now and getting off topic.

And for future reference, if you ever find the need to spoiler something, you type: [spoiler] your spoiler message [/ spoiler] Although there is no space between / and s.

As for Bonekeep, really looking forward to it, just hope my character doesn’t die before I make it. Will be going to PaizoCon as well and would like to be in 3-4 PFS events. Trying to catch up to a friend of mine!

Bonekeep is tenuously related to Day of the Demon.

For Jason:
The offscreen villain in Day of the Demon mentions Bonekeep in a player handout. He failed to enter the dungeon, then he left for a wedding. I am going out on a limb and saying he will not be featured in Bonekeep because he specifically said he was headed somewhere else. There may be evidence of his visit in Part 2 of Bonekeep. My group didn't make it all the way through Part 1. I think Victor is mistaken.

This may be too far into the future, but are they all planned to be 3-7? If I wished to play all of them with the same character, should I shelf him if he is close to 8th?

Ruins of Bonekeep levels 3 and 4 are planned to be Tier 5–9, as they're lower in the dungeon and therefor more dangerous.

The Exchange 5/5

Great! I need to have a few levels to save up gold for the Raise Dead and Restorations. Part 1 tapped me out of gold and Prestige. Maybe I'll get a cupcake GM instead of Bulmahn next time around.
