Here we have a balor taking out a silver dragon in this awesome cover illustration from Wayne Reynolds. This chaotic scene greets the PCs as they begin the Wrath of the Righteous Adventure Path, which launches this August with Pathfinder Adventure Path #73: The Worldwound Incursion. This Adventure Path uses rules from Pathfinder RPG: Mythic Adventures to make this a truly mythic campaign. As the release of this Adventure Path nears, I'd like to highlight some of the other things we're working on that can help support your PCs' venture into the Worldwound.

At the same time that Pathfinder Adventure Path #73 releases, a number of other products that help support the Adventure Path will be available, such as Pathfinder Cards: Wrath of the Righteous Item Cards, which allow you to hand players cards depicting the treasures they unearth during the campaign. Learn more about the horrible rift in reality that gives the region its name in Pathfinder Campaign Setting: The Worldwound. Need more information on demons to use in the Adventure Path to stop those pesky heroes? Look no further than Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Demons Revisited! Are there now too many demons around? Then check out Pathfinder Player Companion: Demon Hunter's Handbook for tips and tools that come in handy during a fight against the Abyss.

If all of that's not enough to get you packing your bags for Mendev, then stay tuned for the adventures of your favorite count and his trusty bodyguard as Radovan and Jeggare head into the Worldwound in Dave Gross' upcoming novel Pathfinder Tales: King of Chaos. Also, this year at GenCon the Pathfinder Society begins a new season with Year of the Demon. Mike Brock and John Compton will provide more information about that sometime soon.

So the AP begins with a balor taking down a silver dragon? I'm starting to understand why mythic rules are needed for this :)

Nice cover!

If this begins with a balor vs silver dragon I guess ... it ends with pugwampis vs goblins.

Can we have a button for "LOVE" on these entries? Listing or favoriting just doesn't do enough justice.

Wait, no, it ends with little demons falling over a cliff while the PCs are crit-tackling a Balor!

So our Iconics for Wrath of the Righteous will be Alain, Seoni, Seelah, and... Merisiel. James, we get it, she's your favorite Iconic, but honestly, she's starting to feel overused, heavily overused. Can we actually have two APs in a row without her, please? I was hoping for Damiel or even Imrijka to fill the skill monkey slot of the Iconics this go around, though admittedly that would mean two APs in a row for Imrijka.

Oh, and if it's not too much to ask, can we finally somehow get Balazar in the next AP? Maybe even give the poor guy a blog entry in addition to some AP time?

Silver Crusade

:O

@Kvantum: Or the dwarf. Rangers have plenty of skill points and are decent at detecting traps. Heck, you could have replaced Alain with the dwarf and brought in the cleric. You'd still have two combat-capable characters, a spellslinger, and a healer.

But Alain is fabulous. Also, he's better than you.

SO MUCH BETTER THAN YOU.

Nothing personal, he's just a ... superior life form. No hard feelings there, just facts. And please, no opinions. Alain > you is like Wizards > Monks, duh. Really, if you will try to argue it only underscores your inferiority.

Actually, Merisiel hasn't been a featured iconic since Skull & Shackles, so there's your two in a row without her. :)

Let's be honest.

Alain's there to have horrible horrible things happen to him. Every issue.

we can only hope

Spoiler:
Merisiel: Guess what's butt? Alain. That's what's butt.

Seelah: Wow, I really miss Seltyiel.

Seoni: Every time he talks I feel my brain cells committing suicide one by one.

Merisiel: Every time he talks is like sticking knives in your earballs.

Seelah: Yea...wait, what?

Merisiel: It's something that really hurts. That's why I don't clean my ears out with my knives. Anymore.

Seelah: 0_o

Seoni: Oh dammit. I just got it. No wonder Kyra skipped out on us this time. It's the Runelords arrangement. Three women and one man. Oh my goddess, this guy is such a...ugh. And it's Val he's ripping off?

Merisiel: Runelords party?! But if Kyra's not here that means I have to hit on See-

Seelah: Don't you dare.

Merisiel: -eeeooo...?

Seoni: No, shut up. This isn't anyone hitting on anyone. This is about being reduced to some blowhard's...retinue.

Seelah: I highly doubt there's any danger of that.

Seoni: But you just know that's how he's going to sell it at every settlement we come across.

Seelah: I think you're losing sight of why we're here. This isn't about who gets what share of glory, it's...

Alain: Ah, ladies. Dear Seelah, before we set out you might want to take the time to cover some of the shine on that armor. You probably don't want to be drawing so much attention to yourself out on the field. Oh, and please do it before we pass through the gates! You never know what one might encounter just outside the city in this region. continues polishing armor

Seoni: See?

Seelah: I'm sending for Seltyiel, right now.

Seoni: On a hopeful note, I've heard the terrain before us is hard on horses...

Merisiel: Hey, it turns out knives aren't good for plugging ears either. Seelah, could you maybe use your healing tou-

Seelah/Seoni: NO!

I really like that cover. Not only on its artistic merits, but also because I have an admittedly bizarre disdain for dragons and seeing one get punked is provoking the following reaction in me: "Oh-hohohoho, this is DELICIOUS! ...Don't be so hasty (in deleting those video tapes), not until I've seen those Street Dragons pummeled to dust; which should be any minute now! ...Yes! YESSSS!"

(Yes, this is a semi-obscure pop culture reference butchered for my own purposes.)

Awesome piece of artwork! Good start!

And lol, the Balor is suppose to be LARGE, the Glabrezu is suppose to be HUGE, but on artwork its always the OTHER way around, the Glabrezu is large on art and the Balor is HUGE on artwork, maybe its the way its suppose to be? ;-)

Assuming those are still in there. Haven't really been keeping up with the Mythic stuff.

But if that's the way the AP BEGINS...

Too late now for Merisiel; she's in the Wrath of the Righteous Art. And as Adam pointed out, it's been since Skull & Shackles since she was one of the iconics, so your wish is already granted.

Balazar is tricky, because he's not only short (which is something some artists have trouble with) but also he's two characters, not just one, so he and his eidolon tend to crowd things. Same thing happens with Lini, but she's been a round a lot more than Balazar.

Artistic license.

But who knows? That balor is a very specific one, and if ANY balor is gonna be Huge, it's the Storm King of the Worldwound.

Where is Mythic Harsk? *Three* humans and an *elf*... James Jacobs, this is speciesism!

Paizo Employee Creative Director

It's not speciesism. It's favoritisim.

Also, Seelah and Alain are more or less obvious choices for an AP that features crusaders. Seoni's in there because it's been forever since we've had her in an AP (I think the last of her appearances was in Carrion Crown), and because of the perception among gamers that a group without an arcane spellcaster is doomed from the start. ;-P Merisiel is in there partially because she's my favorite and the last time I've been able to develop an AP with her featured in the art is, believe it or not, Rise of the Runelords.

Silver Crusade

We got Imrijka and Valeros in the same AP with the current Reign of Wunter, so I can't really complain about what iconics are or aren't showing up. :)

Nepotism. They're obviously children of your muse, who is much akin to a sister to you. ;)

Who was the main developer for Legacy of Fire?

I remember in one of the forewords to Serpent's Skull you explained that Rob McCreary had taken the role of Development Lead for that AP, but up to that point I thought you were the main developer for each AP. If that wasn't the case, and just out of curiosity, can you let us know who was the lead on each AP?

The only iconic I care about is Seoni... for obvious reasons - though I'm kind of fond of the witch as well. Must have something to do with that white hair.

Looking at that image the thing that struck me is - how dumb do mortals have to be to get involved in something like this?

Did I say mortals? I meant martials.

Those are some excellent reasons to make the iconic 4 in the dwarf AP be Harsk, Lini, Balazar, and Lem. Which needs to happen.

Wiggz wrote:

Wiggz you shouldn't joke about that. As we all know, caster/martial disparity is a myth propagated by those with agendas. Stop spreading it!

I'm sorry I just can't let that one go.

Well, since we're complaining about Iconics, can we get Lirianne and Reiko on the next one? I don't think they've got any AP appearances other than Lirianne's guest shot at the end of Skull & Shackles.

That aside, I'm still looking forward to this one. Hopefully, I will be able to afford it by the time it comes around.

That was me.

I've developed:

Rise of the Runelords (twice)
Curse of the Crimson Throne
Second Darkness
Legacy of Fire
Council of Thieves
Kingmaker
Shattered Star
Wrath of the Righteous

Rob did the other ones, mostly, although I developed a few of them here and there—I did parts 2 and 3 of Serpent's Skull with Rob helping, then handed the reigns of developer over to him in full with #4. I also developed part 1 of Carrion Crown and part 5 of Skull & Shackles.
