King Markadian - post is up in thread now and no other questions.

Time to go back to the cell methinks... and begin the negotiations ;)

King of Talingarde

Should be home and have the next post up in the next 60-120 minutes (or 1 to 2 hours).

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Cool map, KMV. I like it.

King of Talingarde

Ty ty, just a copy/paste from maptools thus far. I'm still working out other methods on how to make them. This seems best so far.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Looks cool to me. Maptools is cool. Like bowties. ;)

I wish I had some form of tech knowledge to know how to work it. I absolutely don't. Sadly, I have a better chance of understanding Ancient Egyptian. :P

Not in use

Maptools is indeed cool - but I shared the same degree of Grognard-ity as Javell; so ended up just making maps in Powerpoint.

Sovereign Court

About half an hour on rptoolstutorials + a few hours building up your image library is all you really need to get started with Maptools fairly competently, it just takes that first step :).

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

My posting is gonna be scarce from this coming Saturday to Monday. It's possible I might be able to post something, but if not, you know why. Should be good to go back on Tuesday.

Scarab Sages RPG Superstar 2013

All-

For whatever reason m computer consistently refuses to load Paizo or send posts. I am posting two and three times every time I want something up. Posting from my phone is slow. So I'l try to tough it out and diagnose the problem when I'm not working. Please be patient with me. I dig the character and everyone's roleplay.

Just a note in case it wasn't clear- i've assumed the thieves tools are non-masterwork. If they are in fact masterwork, add +2 to all results.

King of Talingarde

Just a quick note, I'll be in a class for most of the day and won't be able to post for about 8-10 hours (and I thought I was done with school). Just as a quick reminder, the guard are not in the cellblock.

Sovereign Court

It does seem a bit strange to me that everyones acting as though we know that Haruk's charm person spell has worked, even though no one has actually identified the spell as he cast it.

Without some clarity from Haruk (to be fair, Alazandaru warned him about this earlier in IC) my next action is likely to be to incapacitate the Dwarf.

Remember also he won't do anything he wouldn't normally do without opposed charisma checks. Considering that his 'friend' is a prisoner, thats going to be a lot of opposed charisma checks.

Charm Person's actually pretty weak but its one of those spells that differs from DM to DM.

Not in use

Not everyone - I'm sitting still and waiting to see what transpires :)

But I'm with AK on the Charm Person account - especially since Alazandaru just bled out his fellow guard....

Note this line in the Charm Person spell - Any act by you or your apparent allies that threatens the charmed person breaks the spell. - interpretation abounds... but one needs to tread carefully...

King of Talingarde

These are good points on the Charm Person spell. At times it can be difficult to adjucate it as a GM, when and when it doesn't work, under what circumstances, what defines 'threatened'. It could quite easily be said I should not have allowed the spell to go off. The guards were threatened at the time, the PCs attacked his friend, etc.

I could also argue that at the time fo the spell, the dwarf was not threatened, it was two on one against Morthos and Haruk was still supposedly manacled. It could have become broken now though, but at the time of casting it was fine.

Either way, I do believe I was a tad overzealous in allowing it to work, true. I am human. I want everyone to be able to enjoy the campaign, and in doing so allowed my judgement to be blurred, since it's not always fun when your spells don't work. Either way, I did say he was charmed, and I'm sticking to my guns from up to that post. Afterwards, it's based on your all's actions.

Either way, I'll go ahead and throw up a continuation post.

Sovereign Court

I wasn't really being critical of allowing it to work DM, and I get it :). Just trying to give Haruk a heads up before we slice up his charmed friend, because I already tried in-character.

Its more of a meta-issue for me right now. Alazandaru doesn't know what Haruk cast, nor if it succeeded. he can make assumptions, but in the heat of battle hes not going to take the risk that hes wrong; especially after he explicitly told Haruk to let us know if his charm worked.

It seems to Alazandaru that other prisoners have innate knowledge that the spell was indeed a Charm Person and that it worked.

Edit: Heh. Should get in the habit of checking the IC before the OOC. Its all moot now anyway :)

Female Human Fighter (Two-Handed) 1

I believe I acted as though she didn't know the dwarf was charmed. He was simply outnumbered and his friend was already defeated so intimidating him into submission seemed fitting.

male human witch 1

Two more posts eaten. I don't actually mean to go so long without posts. Looking into clearing out my cache for Paizo tomorrow - this is the only site that does this.

So, erm.....were we really that averse to taking a few minutes to form a plan? I only get two first level spells, ya know. : }

King of Talingarde

Sorry about my bad posting schedule this weekend. Worked the weekend plus prepping for an audit next week, been hectic. Been trying to post as able but not much luck. Tonight (probably 3-4 hours from this post) I'll get a post up.

Also learned more about google docs and should have better utility with the maps now. I didn't think to upload them as a drawing instead, but that way we can move the tokens around. I tested it and it seemed to work fine.

I suggest that, with the exception of coins, we don't worry about splitting treasure during this section, just take whatever fits your character's needs.

Once we've broken out, we'll start monitoring it and decide on a system we all agree with.

Bostarg seconds the proposal.

I agree with this as well.

Male Human Sorcerer(Infneral) 5/Infernal Disciple 3

Why is does the rogue keep making spellcraft checks? and why does the rogue even have spellcraft? seems slightly suspect...

I mean, if there was a reason in his backstory, no problem...but I can't seem to find that...

Not in use

He's making Spellcraft checks to know what you are casting and avoid any metagaming on that fact.

The skill itself comes from the Cosmopolitan feat, and it is indeed part of his backstory.

Male Human Sorcerer(Infneral) 5/Infernal Disciple 3

I'm cool with that, but I can't find his backstory, which makes me feel dumb...am I missing it somehow?

Thanks for answering Mark.

A fighter or any non-caster can take spellcraft too, just the bonus is usually pants as its not a class skill.

I believe the skill is even specifically called out in Alazandaru's backstory.

Would you find it helpful if I put my backstory into a spoiler on my profile? I need to add a few details to it anyway after speaking to DM.

Not in use

Aye - I should have said the skill is a class skill through Cosmopolitan ;)

Male Human Sorcerer(Infneral) 5/Infernal Disciple 3

Yea, I guess I'm slightly paranoid as we are all evil characters here and your makin spellcraft checks every time one of us casts...

I just wish I'd rolled on my d10s as well. :b

Okay. I'll bite. My curiosity has gotten the better of me. Curious to know what you're talking about. Maybe you meant d20's? Or am I just missing something?(That happens a lot, so, fair warning to you all)

As long as its not IC paranoia, considering that what hes doing is purely mental.

But i'm not interested in party conflict. I've played in an Evil campaign before and with LE, it can work.

Pace seems to have flagged, everything ok DM?

King of Talingarde

Honestly I thought you guys were still in the planning phase, but now that I go back through, I misunderstood. I'll have a post up in just a few.

Scarab Sages RPG Superstar 2013

Be able to ramp up my posting soon. Easter plus this foster care thing makes it hard, but this week things should open up.

Our rogue has something like a 60 point ability score buy. So he obviously rolled really well using the feast/famine system. Just wishing I'd done as well.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

A little under 60. I got 3 10's with the focus/foible system.

However, Alazandarus always going to have a brutal achilles heel; will saves. Will try and shore it up with Iron Will but its never going to be spectacular.

The high int I managed to get is making me consider the Assassin prc.

But anyway... rogue's currently considered one of the weakest classes.

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

Only by people who are utter morons and have no head for tactics.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

By people who do DPR comparisons actually, even assuming the Rogue always has flanking.

But DPR is not everything, people obsess about it far too much.

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

Hence the moron comment. DPR is well and fine, but much like in World of Warcraft, if you can't fight a boss battle intelligently, and follow directions, it doesn't matter if you constantly top the DPS chart.

Scarab Sages RPG Superstar 2013

I think rogues are spectacularly useful and fun to play. And you sefinitely have the scores to play a pimp assassin.

King of Talingarde

Sorry if it seems like I"m a little flakey at present. At work our audit was moved up 3 months (it's tomorrow!) and since this is the first one for my new boss with our company, it's a tad nerve wrecking (I almost got called in on Easter, while the place was closed, narrowly avoided it). I've been trying to post in my games when able, but it seems like this one has taken the brunt of my current failings. I promise things will pick up after it's over (the next 3 days).

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

There was less than a 24 hr delay in posting over a holiday weekend. What's the big deal? Most games halt a bit over any normal weekend, let alone one involving a holiday. Had you failed to post over the span of 3 or 4 days, I would have been a bit worried.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

No big deal, KMV. Take care of what you need to, buddy. I think it's safe to say that, we'll all still be ready to go when you are. ;)

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Its my gf's birthday today and I expect the celebrations will continue until tomorrow. Don't be alarmed if I am a little scarce for a couple of days. Bot me as necessary.

Not in use

Probably an appropriate juncture to do a cross-post to all my more active PbPs about an interruption to my posting schedule that is imminent.

My wife is about 37 weeks pregnant, which basically means that the bun is fully cooked and ready to pop at any time. This means that at some point in the next 1 day to 4 weeks I will suddenly and without notice disappear completely from the interwebs. I can't say when or for how long, but it will probably knock me out for up to a week or so before my wife and I get back on our feet and I'm of somewhat sound and untired enough mind to jump back online.

So if I do vanish, please don't fret as I shall return :) I would just ask for some leeway on posting frequency for a while as we adjust to the new baby floating around.

Liberty's Edge

Having 4 kids myself, I completely understand. Best of luck with the new baby!

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Congrats Sweetman! That's awesome! Hope all goes well for your wife and your soon-to-be new little person, buddy.

Thanks for the well wishes :)

My Hell Week is over now, and as such I can keep this moving now. Just a reminder, Haruk, Alazandaru and Beatrix are up.
