Finally, after such a long string of bad decisions something I do is finally right.
Professor, I loved your character this game. You win both the creative and interesting awards this game.
Doctor, The Banner would have been a valuable asset to the remaining villagers. Your death hurts the most among those with special roles.

Worst part about it? Up until 5 minutes before voting closed he was protecting himself and would have survived the night. I almost yelled when I got his message.

Yeah, sorry about that....

I'm glad you guys had as much fun playing with her as I did writing her :)
In the last forum I played werewolf games on, PMs weren't allowed and all interaction had to be IC. It's interesting to see how the secret communications can change things. I think the villagers have a good chance in this one, 2 wolves to 14 villagers is quite the challenge. This was my first time playing a wolf, and trying to second-guess the baner definitely kept things interesting.
I wish I'd had a chance to respond to Simon and Thoen in-character, but I really had to get some sleep. I guess I'll just settle into lurking with the rest of the ghosts and see how this plays out...

I have to say that the behind the scenes game was considerably more fun than the actual game. I sent over 150 PM's since round 2 when things really started picking up. Many of which were apology messages for those I had lynched by accident. I was the last Scrye BTW, not Simon.

I would like to take this opportunity to apologize for my newbieness and Nakedness requests, it wasn't until around post 325 that I found out no investigative techniques were allowed and in that moment I realized all my earlier posts about being naked to expose bite marks must have appeared strange to everyone else. As Homer would say, DOH!
Professor Alessandra Devries |
@Simon: No worries about the nudity. I figured you were just having some fun in-character. There's no reason you can't conduct all sorts of investigations in games like this... they'll never lead to anything conclusive but they make great excuses for accusing someone. For instance, if you'd wanted to accuse Alessandra after seeing her you could "remember" that she had cut her arm deeply a few years ago and taken the absence of a scar to mean that she must have the regenerative powers of a werewolf. I wasn't sure about you being the scryer, but I figured I should make my opinion known IC before my death so the other wolf could use the information as he saw fit.
I was fairly sure that the other wolf was Bruce or the Duke... I was going to target Bruce in the first round because he was so quiet but I switched to Wowbagger after he outed himself as having a non-villager role. I'm surprised this game lasted as long as it did; I fully expected to by lynched on the second round, but I kept slipping by. This was my first time playing a wolf in one of these games and it definitely kept me on my toes!
It would have been great if you'd taken the professor up on her offer though ;)

Interesting, Jedi Vs Sith, I would have never have thought of that (which is why you are a great gm). A futuristic game could be fun, and a change of pace.
Then again a traditional Mafia game would be interesting too. Although would probably be a change of style from the nice village of nice people.

Although I was killed quickly I loved lurking.
Whitey did a great job, I enjoyed him talking his way out of the erroneous decision to lynch Vorian.
Alessandra did an amazing job talking her way out of a lynching AFTER being revealed by a single scrying AFTER killing the scryer. That was awesome!!!!
The 75% accuracy on the scryer is genius--just enough doubt to make it interesting.
Finally, the courage of the scryers was key. They paid for it with a few claw marks :-)
Dan Haworth |
I think it was essential that the 75% failed Whitey's first couple of scry's, else it would have been over alot quicker. It probably needed 3 wolves for the number of players although it was really close due to the uncertainty.
Werewolf, should be available in your FLGS.
Ryuko |
That reminds me.
Ryuko, what is your method for determining the % accuracy for a scrye attempt? Those 2 false visions in a row really threw a wrench into the machinery.
I just roll a D4, poor Whitey and Eldon actually got really unlucky a couple of times (Whitey got 2 wrong and I think Eldon got 2 as well).
I was gonna ask Ryuko, in a more broad term how you came up with the overall concept for this type of game. This was really fun and it adds a lot more energy than sitting around waiting for your turn to roll the dice. Very cool.
As for this... swiped it. Wholeheartedly. I've played Werewolf on occasion on the Giant In The Playground (The guys who write Order of The Stick) forums for a long time and a friend created the Aristocrat variant. I simply jacked it from there, I'm not quote so clever lol.

Recruitment for far-future game is up!
A shame I couldn't do Jedi/Sith, but I could not in any way justify the Jedi lynching off their peers in a witch-hunt. Though now my brain just realized that maybe I could do the opposite.... damnit. Maybe next time.

Great, will come up with an idea soon. Pity I have a couple of Star Wars alias, but this one sounds great.
My friend told me about another interesting role that he used in his French Werewolf games: The Lovers: Two players know each others roles, and if one is killed the other suicides. They win if they survive, they can have other roles as well as this. Thus a Werewolf can be in love with a scryer!
